I carry the exact same way. Been stopped 3 times over the years and all 3 officers were very professional because I did what I should. they were much more comfortable with the stop because I was up front and kept my hands up the whole time
This is a great video, I dont think a lot of people realize the amount of energy an auto accident has. The more heavy junk you have in your vehicle the greater the possibility they will become missiles during an accident, especially a roll over. During my 16 years of law enforcement I have seen some weird things happen. The important thing to remember, if you rear end somebody at high speeds, all that stuff if coming to the windshield at the same speed you were just driving. Another thing I have seen that I dont think people realize will be extremely painful, having a small dog in your lap when you hit somebody and the airbag goes off. Those airbags move at a few hundred MPH and now feefee just smashed your face. Or the other thing, mostly women, putting their feet on the dashboard while driving highway speeds. You better hope you are flexible, because those knees will be heading towards your face at a few hundred MPH, not to mention the amount of force a vehicle has when the accident occurs. The part about the carry of the gun, I like to carry mine on the, I am right handed and have practiced drawing from that position in a vehicle due to no other options while on duty. Keep up the good work.
I personally have a Condition Zero handgun mount located by my right knee. Additionally I have a lockable storage compartment under each front seat of my Jeep JKU. Those storage compartments are too small for my FNX Tactical 45. But my Xds fits pretty well. They both sit just fine in that knee pocket. I've noticed 2 things, Christmas is here in 2 days and you've coincidentally ramped up your video output; no doubt to buy me something special. And I'm sure of this because of all the ads. No biggie, I wish I had enough of any stat to monetize. But they interrupt you every minute or two. Thank you for your service by the way. I'm sure you hear it a lot, but it matters because while we're sleeping and going about our business; you guys are doing the 'scary' work. As to who might see these items. Not just anyone would as my Jeep is lifted a bit, and sitting on 35's. An officer might see it as you said. I think I've been pulled over exactly 3 times since obtaining my CCL. 1st time, I wasn't even carrying and the officer actually asked me why not. Other two times, never was even asked. Instantly hand both, license and CCL out the window when the officer walks up. They looked at the CCL and handed it back. Not a word. One of your brothers, Chris Sajnog, has a pretty informative video about why officers have to make instantaneous decisions about when to shoot that should I ever be arrested and put on trial, I'll have my attorney bring that video to court. Anyway, thanks for your videos.
Good info. Thanks. I'm considering transitioning to appendix from 3-4 o'clock. Regarding the vehicle mount, a possible con that I've heard before is, what if you were surprise carjacked and were removed from the vehicle? Then you'd be left without pew. I suppose the answer is.....don't get surprised?
Though I don’t drive nearly as much, a 4-9 hr vehicle trip is common. With that, my EDC holster is one from Werkz for my M18. I have a pad GOON taped to the holster. With a size bigger pant and a ratchet style belt, this allows amazing versatility in adjustments throughout a given day to include donning and doffing the rig. I hardly notice the AIWB rig. While in the vehicle, I wear the seatbelt appropriately and simply move the cover garment over the belt as you show in the video.
Thanks for all the great information and videos! Also, thank you for your service! Question… how do you deal with not going on combat missions any more? Former 19D Calvary Scout here…
It’s hard. Part of me craves war, but I chose to be a family man, therefore I have an obligation to be home being a husband and father first. Takes time to switch mindsets. 🙏
Remember if you are in an accident that seatbelt is not going to reel back if the pre tensioners have gone off. It will be locked in place so its good to train by using a large bulldog clip to hold the belt in place to simulate this as its much more awkward to clear the belt like this and its how it will be in real life. Also always have a seat belt cutter / glass hammer in arms reach thats going to be in the same place after an accident.

Excellent video with a lot of good advice to think about and implement in how you carry and also how to interact with LEO. Keep em coming ! Happy New Year !!!
I am a maniac regarding driving safety (maybe because driving here is more like trying to get from A to B and not die) and you are correct, all the garbage that we carry behind might kill us. Just to visualize - if you drive 30mph and hit a static non-deformable obstacle like a tree, the 1L water bottle will instantly change into 67lb projectile. If someone did not had a car rollover it is a good idea to get into a simulator, they put some plastic balls in it. Civilian version of helicopter underwater training. -------------- Now regarding the seat belt. Being buckled up correctly has some other benefits like being able to feel when wheels start to skid before you loose control. And of course minimize the chances to get injured during the rollover. Having a belt over the holster is almost guaranteed injury - upper part of the belt can cause damage to ribs, and guts has no protection at all. Remember the bottle? If your weight is 168lb, during the crash it's now 5000lb. And we don't want to forget that modern cars does have pyrotechnic seat belt tensioners. What I do, is put the lower part of the seat belt a bit lower. On your example the belt is set perpendicularly against thighs. If you take a closer look on how the lap belt goes (including the buckling point angle) you will notice that more "natural" would be like 45 degrees. And I'm trying to put it even flatter. It is easy to done with one hand (at least for right handed like me lol) once you use to it but might be worth to break it down for the first time (more typing than doing in fact). 1. Grab the buckle with hand that will lead the belt, other hand should be next to it on the lap belt. 2. Put the leading hand where the hip starts. 2. Leading hand leads the buckle over your thighs (stick to them, don't do that in air), other open hand goes after on the belt to make sure that it goes flat. 3. Fasten the seat belt and eliminate extra clearance by pulling the upper part of the belt (tighter = better), it will move a bit, but not as high as tissues gets squeezed a little. First pic is something what we want to achieve. owners-manual.mazda.com/gen/en/cx-9/cx-9_8hb5ee18g/contents/img/03020201-tcusa02-001.png Other pic shows the results and has a description (sorry, did not found better). www.insureinfoblog.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/07/prognancy-and-seatbelts.jpg You may want to take another look at the side view of the 2nd image. Shoulder belt saves you from getting hit by airbags while the lap belt keeps you in right position. It literally tries you to wedge you between the seating and back allowing you to feel more and stay in right place when the world is spinning. Extra feature - if one of your relatives gets pregnant (or you with burgers) now you know how to fasten the seat belt reducing the risk to baby (or the burger ;) )
Great video; thanks for the content! I noticed your off-body carry method for the vehicle works really well for concealment when the door is closed. However, that’s really only helpful if you’re a left-handed pistol shooter. I realize training strong/weak side is essential, but if we’re honest, we’re likely going to default to strong hand when things go down. Any recommendations for a setup similar to yours for right-handed pistol shooters looking to set up an off-body carry in the vehicle?
OK, here's the follow up we need. Do an entire "day in the life" of carrying concealed around people you don't care to know you carry. I mean, how long does it take before you accidentally get discovered at your work place? Then what happens? All the transitions through the day - from car to office to cafeteria/restaurant, to lunch meetings, in the office/cubicle??? No YT'er goes over this - you would be the first.
You appendix carry on the left, release the seat belt with your right hand while drawing your gun with your left. Efficient if you are left handed. Most of us are not. If I appendix carried on the right so that I could draw with the right then it would be awkward to release the seat belt with my left (wrong side) or release the belt with my right and then draw- taking more time.
In many states having a loaded firearm off body and not hidden in a glove box or center console is a violation of the LTC. It's not considered in your care and control nor concealed if it's in one of those interior dash or center console mounted holsters.
@@frogmantactical For sure. Love your channel by the way and thank you for your service to our country. I've never served so I just humbly thank those who have. Weird thing is in Texas where I and I believe you also live they just passed legislation to allow this type of off body open carrying in an in vehicle holster mount called House Bill 1407. Unfortunately its application doesn't go into affect until January 1st 2022 even though the effective date of the law is September 1st 2021. Section 2 of HB 1407 and the very first part before you scroll down lays it all out but it's the closing of a loophole with a space of time between now and the first of next year before it's not considered an offense. That's loony tunes to me to still have that gap but it is what it is. Least it's going away. Here's the link to the bill if you're interested in looking at it. First, thank you for the informed content. It helps everyday citizens more than we can tell. But second, could you comment or make a video on "truck guns" or storing a primary weapon system in your vehicle for active-shooter situations or multiple attackers. Obviously, there will be variables such as state laws, vehicle type (truck, SUV, sedan, etc.), as well as window tinting and the likelihood of a robber varying on location. However, some general wisdom from Frogman Tactical on the idea, position in car, and deployment would be appreciated. Keep up the good work.
If you carrying a Glock I think that completely mitigates the drop issue, something like a stick would have to get into the trigger guard and depress the trigger perfectly before it goes off.
That’s pretty to close to the “plain view” law here in Texas. Not sure that’ll fly! But I have holster a firearm directly under the steering column which does keep it out of “plain view”. So make sure you’re following your state law on how to keep a gun in your vehicle legally! Great video though….
I just don't wear a seat belt! Seriously, thanks for covering this issue. I toggle the seat belt placement often and glad my questions weren't just mine.
