    That’s the busiest day in EMS supervisor history. Most only leave their office to grab a bite to eat and maybe catch one canceled call in 24 hours. The easiest supervisor job in the history of supervision is an EMS supervisor. Very little expectations or responsibilities.

      I hope you got a good set of knee pads because brown noising is the only way to become an EMS supervisor.

    Great video but honestly in my opinion, the EMS Supervisor should not be showing up at almost every call. If the EMT's you got out there can't handle themselves independently, thats an issue.

      Well here it looked like he was just going to working codes. Not only is he a supervisor, he is a colleague and friend that can help the crew out if need be. He can't possibly swing by 19 different crews in a single shift.

      He’s only going to high priority calls most likely. We are dispatched to all codes, vehicle vs pedestrian, structure fire stand by, etc.

      I work for one of the biggest companies in my state at every suspected cardio call and every high priority call we send two trucks out to go. We run on the mindset would rather have to many people than not enough. We also work out of a major city so sometimes we cant afford to relocate another ambulance to the same scene. On those calls id love for a supervisor to come along cause at the end of the day they are another set of hands and if theres any questions you have someone who can answer them or take the fall better if something goes wrong.

      I was a volunteer for Cypress Creek EMS in the early 90's before moving to Ohio. The same reason we had them then, are the same reasons they have them now. There was always at least one Paramedic on the unit supported by at least another EMT, Intermediate, or Paramedic. So with that said they could assist in providing care on some high priority runs (codes, shootings, stabbing, major accidents, industrial accidents etc...). They are not focused on behavior or the monitoring of the ability of the crews, they are just extra hands and had the leadership position of adding other resources to the scenes as needed.

      An EMT can’t call a time of death. It has to be a paramedic. It’s not so much the EMT’s can’t do the job, they just can’t call stoppage on a code.

    so my community in central tx also dispatches a fire truck to a cardiac arrest call, why?

    • @iacentralfishing5610
      @iacentralfishing5610 4 роки тому +11

      We do it too, usually for manpower and having guys available to switch off preforming CPR.

    • @erikjohnson7221
      @erikjohnson7221 4 роки тому +9

      Yes, it’s all for manpower reasons. Where I live, EMS is provided but the fire department. On cardiac arrest calls they send close to 10 people to the call. The more people they have on scene to provide care the better the outcome.

      Exodus Twelve Nope. All career. For a typical BLS call, they will send a 3 person Engine/Aid Crew (3 FF/EMTs). For most ALS calls, they will add on an additional Paramedic unit staffed with 2 medics. For cardiac arrest calls, they send 2 BLS Engine/Aid Unit crews, 1 paramedic ambulance, a medical supervisor and a battalion chief. That’s 7 firefighters who are EMTs and 3 who are paramedics. Lots of people yes, but it can really help a patients outcome.

    • @erikjohnson7221
      @erikjohnson7221 4 роки тому +5

      Exodus Twelve Forgot to mention this.... they used to respond with 7 people to cardiac arrest calls (1 Engine/Aid crew, 1 paramedic ambulance, a medical supervisor and the battalion chief) until recently. They added an additional 3 person crew because patient outcomes improved by adding more responders to the call. Our city police department also has an AED in all of their vehicles. It’s a very good response system none the less.
