Recently decided to grab a pixel 7 after years on the newest Samsung. Hardware and basic functions the pixel is great like the S22, but I really am missing One UI everywhere. One UI takes what Google offers as a base and just improves it all around.
I felt the same way. That's why I'm back at Samsung. I was so bothered by Pixel that you can't remove the search bar. And you can customize Samsung so much easier without any other launcher.
Switched to P7 pro after using flagship Samsungs since S4. One UI is like 10 times easier using one handed.. The only thing I like more about Pixel are still photos
I grabbed the Nothing Phone (1) because it has an almost similar android stock experience but I have to tell you that OneUI is way better in terms of customization. One thing I've loved the OneUI is the bixby routines, it was so nice having that on the system and when I did something the system would completely change in terms of notifications, open apps and more. So here I think OneUI takes the win for me
So true.!! Routines is the most underrated feature. I have it setup for everything, when battery turns below 15, switch to 60hz, turn AOD when connected to charge. Have Grey scale turned on when I open pdf app or kindle, turn on gps when I open Uber and close it when I exit.
For me, samsung has the best Android UI out there, it's simple, more customizable than the stock android (in my opinion) and I really like the way that Samsung is going, so that's it 😅😊
I use the lock screen widgets a lot and love how they are out of the way until i need them. I actually have rountines i need in it for quick automation at home. Samsung has now playing too, and i love how you can make it transparent so it matches with background. It can show you controls for different players because i use 3 spotify, Samsung music, and Amazon music. You can change to any player without unlocking your screen. Also, with Samsung music, you get full music art like you showed for pixel. You can access the playlist and change songs on the locked screen. I like that you can make the lock screen simple or complex. Transparent samsung widgets are amazing.
Thanks for the video! It reminded me of how OneUI is too much for me. I find so many options to be overwhelming, because I would constantly be worried of accidentally enabling/changing an option, being time-consuming to change it back, thus everything becoming a mess over time. Especially since I've noticed that new features get enabled by default after Samsung's software updates. The OneUI 3 update automatically enabled the side panel thing, and some lockscreen wallpaper features which I've never asked for, and that was very annoying to me. I don't always have the time to disable all these countless settings and features, sometimes I need my phone to just work. Definitely going with Pixel/Stock Android here.
Love this video! I have always been a die-hard Samsung user, however, after giving the Pixel 7 a go, I'm finding that I lean more towards Googles Material You over Samsungs One UI. There are some lock screen features I miss that Samsung offers (Flashlight shortcut for sure!) But I have come to prefer that cleaner/ more polished experience from the Pixel. And I agree that the Music widget is nice!
@Bzake Oh okay! I don't think I've seen that on my lock screen. I'm able to clear out notifications on my lock screen on my Pixel the same way I can on my Galaxy phone. But also, I was just leaving my opinion/preference. I know everyone will not agree. And I really love the clock on the lock screen, which I also know is not everyone's favorite. It can be a bit intrusive for sure...I just find it to be so aesthetic. Nonetheless, I still love both phones ! :)
I also have what if you tap the back of the phone. The flashlight turns off and on as well. And if you open the camera app and you twist your wrist it'll switch it to the front facing camera. The pixel has a lot of features and a lot of them are hidden. I like the features of one UI. There is too much going on. When it comes to looks pixel UI is much cleaner and much simpler. Which is why I love it more than one UI. I love that edge bar that Samsung has. That's cool.
You can have the flashlight as a shortcut on the lock screen. I know it because it's like that on my Pixel 7 Pro. I have the flashlight shortcut on the left and the camera shortcut on the right. And that's on my lock screen.
This video definitely hits the nail on the head. I loved my Samsung and I even had all the flagships since the S9+. But I recently just got the iPhone 14 pro max. I realized that all the “cool features” on my Samsung were starting to feel like they are directing towards a completely different audience. Sure the Samsung can do it, but it’s becoming way too much.😅I had to get an iPhone just to get a break and catch my breath! 😂 I definitely want a pixel next! Apple and google are definitely doing some cool new stuff I think.
Thanks for your meaning about the lock screens on Pixel and Galaxy phones. If you ask me, I think that Samsung got the best customised Lock Screen configurations, but I'm happy to know, that you tell about your own feelings about the lock screens on a Pixel device 😊
I've been using Pixel 6 for an year above and I'll tell you a very basic thing. In lockscreen, the Wifi, Mobile data, Bluetooth, location can be toggled on/off! So if a thief gets my phone, he turns on the airplane mode and my phone's gone.. such a high end secure device has a very easy security flaw. Samsung, OnePlus and some other brands never lets that happen. There are options to restrict in lockscreen
I have had them both and Pixel 7 broke so I am thinking of getting the S23 ultra but yeah I will miss the Pixel approach. Samsung does offer a lot of customization but material you does a good job of making your pixel look new with ease. Also cute baby and happy to see you both do good
So you went back to Samsung? I've been using Samsung phones for the past 5 years and lately have been thinking about the Pixel 8 but I am afraid to regret afterwards if I switch. 😅
Hi Thao! Great video as always! I'm loving s22 Ultra but I have to say that I love the music widget on the lockscreen of the Pixel 😍 Where can we find your beautiful wallpaper please?
Pixel phone is not officially available in my country. I have used many brands, including Samsung. But my experience with all off them would be less than a year before I installed a custom rom that behave as close as pixel phone. My last phone was Asus and it died, I'm using a Samsung phone rn, I might install a custom rom soon just because of that random galaxy branding notification sound that I cannot change even though I have set the default notification to something else
One UI is incredible, is basically what the Pixel has to offer with extra things. I've been using a Samsung phone ever since the S5 came out, but later in year I think I'm upgrading to an iPhone when the new one comes out.
Don't !! I passed form sansung to Iphone and i'll be back to samsung.the iOS is missing many useful things that samsung offers (e.g.1. you cant put the volume of the alarm one by one, all your alarms volumes are linked to the ringtone volume..., e.g.2. if you copy past a phone number in the dialing keypad, you cant modify it, your forced to modify it in a text note or sms, copy it and past it again in the dialing keypad...) many stupid things that makes a lot of difference from my point of view.
I swear I love your vids. You bring a value that not many creators give, thank you. And I definitely would enjoy a full comparison between these 2 devices. Keep making great content.

Bloody google still hasn't fixed the lock screen quick settings anyone can turn off data, location, wifi, Bluetooth and put the device in aeroplane mode or turn off but in One UI you can't select any option in quick settings without knowing password or finger print.
I kinda miss the old iOS without any customisation lol maybe that's weird but not being able to customise results in me feeling content with what I have. I now have an oppo which is in that regard a bit similar to Samsung and I honestly just hate it. It's a great phone but I just always have the urge to change something. I am never content with the way it is. 😅
1:14 new to Android and new subscriber! What calendar widget are you using here? Been having a hard time finding a nice looking calendar widget with similar style to iOS calendar widget…🙏🏽
I'm actually on Microsoft's Launcher and find it quite customizable. However I'm very minimalist on my lock screen. I just have the weather/calendar widget, and all my notifications are condensed into top 3 little bubble that you can tap to expand. I'd probably use One UI, as I love it on my Tab S7+, but I'm still rocking a Note 9 and it only has One UI 2.5 which IMO isn't great. ONE UI 3.0 and later is when it got really good IMO. Thankfully I have Good Lock and much of the support I need to customize my phone well enough for my needs.

same here. Gonna trade my phones to S23...
I've had the Note 10+ since it launched and I had no clue tapping the clock on the lock screen was a thing.
It does not work only available on android 13
Me neither 😂
@iringyellow4327 not true, I'm sure it's a thing from android 12 at least, probably even before
how do you not know this? don't you use always on display?
😂
I use the use the lock screen widgets all the time. I love how Samsung hides them since it doesn't ruin my wallpaper and it's not in my face.
That's true
I think a swipe from the left would have been a more natural interaction.

I use the voice recorder lockscreen widget all the time. It's also there deliberately so you it doesn't cover the wallpaper

Thao you can see the wheatear on Samsung by clicking the clock on the lockscreen.
Exactly. And it is actually the better way of doing it. Showing it all the time does not make any sense.
Wonder if the extra taps on OneUI is to prevent accidental touches or the lock screen which would drain the battery?

There’s literally a toggle to do this
Samsung is the best when it comes to lock screens or home launcher customization, having to much info on lock screen ruins user experience
