What is there to dislike about this video? The fella has taken the time and effort to make and upload an informative and helpful piece of gardening knowledge. I have liked and subscribed. Many thanks. 👍
Pre-sprouting garlic like this is absolutely counter productive. That’s what to dislike. Garlic is planted in fall. The roots grow slowly over the winter with minimal top growth….. if you do this in the north you’re going to have too much tender top growth that will die back. Fall planted garlic takes a whole lot more than four months I don’t know what this guy‘s even on about.
@@dispmonk you can plant garlic in spring as well. I’ve never done that and your garlic will be small but hey, if you have old dry garlic, this is at least one use for it. Waste not, want not. 🤷♀️ His video was made in March - therefore spring. Small bulbs with such a shallow container and a spring planting, I’m sure, but it was a use for the garlic that would not have produced well over winter anyway. I plant my garlic in autumn but last year we had such a deluge of rain, our gardens were flooded and I lost 70 percent of my garlic. This would have been a reasonable spring option.
Someone put two whole garlic cloves in my compost bin without me knowing. I went to go turn it today and found one of the cloves with lots of roots and a huge stem coming up from it. Didn't expect to be growing garlic anytime soon, but now I have it in a cup and am excited to watch it grow!
Love your videos. Clear instructions, straight to the point. You don't waste my time and I can see what your doing step by step. I will recommend your channel to everyone I know. Thanks ;)
I Live in California and am really new to gardening but I have been learning so much about organic gardening from your channel and I just wanted to say thank-you for all of your great advice! I am really thankful for all of your tutorials all the way out here in California!
You are most welcome! You get some amazing growing weather over there. It's such a beautiful part of the world to live. Not good for growing Garlic though. They like English weather better :)
I’m excited to know this can be done in containers! I live behind a golf course and all their pesticide laden water flows onto our property, so it’s all container gardening for me!
I developed interest in gardening a couple of years back and watch a lots of videos, tutorials on youTube and internet. This clip is perhaps the best of all for growing garlic at home that I have been watching. Welll done Sir!!
Just found your Channel randomly a couple hours ago and WOW , I love the way you do these and the information answers pretty much every question I would want to ask... Fantastic Material and I’ll probably be watching them all night ...
Hi, I was at the grocery store and found a soft-neck garlic bulb that had some green growing on it. Planted the cloves with the growth at soil level and most of them are starting to grow. Never soaked them or anything, expecting to have a small harvest by the end of summer.. Its been several years since I grew garlic because the seed companies charge too much compared to buying garlic from the store.
I love the watering device!! Using an old milk container!!! What a great idea!!! I shall be doing this as well now!! Am also going to be trying to grow my own garlic. Am a total NEWBIE to gardening so an keen to learn!
I will do, so excited because mine have now got to the sprouted stage so am ready to plant in my container!!! Is there a follow up video for this one?? I dont seem to be able to find it. xxx
Thanks. I'm trying to grow my own garlic and am unsure about when to pull it and if can dig it out to check and then repot it again in a larger pot without ruining the growth so far. A good tip for sieving soil is to use an old fan cover (keep one when you throw out a fan) and shake it over a washing bowl. I always do a lot at once and bag it to add to top soil. Can save the chunky bits too in another bag for drainage at the bottom of the containers.
I've just started growing garlic in my garden, I put them straight in the ground and they are already sprouting and that just after a week or so. Love the vids
I got a fresh organic bulb, planted 4 segments in a trough, and put the rest in a glass with rain water. I'm excited to see what happens! Thanks. This is a brilliant channel!
I'm so glad to have seen this! I bought some garlic on clearance last winter, but didn't plant it. I'm going to try your trick of putting them in a cup with water. This way, if they don't produce any green tops or roots, I'll know not to waste the planting space on them. You're a genius!!
I have some old garlic that I was just trying to rehydrate, and to my amazement, it started sprouting, so I am just going to toss it into an old container, and see what happens. Thank you for your straight, to-the-point video!
Love this idea. I struggled to get the cloves to stand in water so added a bit of compost, then water and just stuck them in. Worked just as good without the fiddling. Great tip Lee.
Thanks for this easy way to follow how to grow, I've always put straight into soil and never had any results good or otherwise, keep doing what your doing, great to follow and no fluff or waffle cheers
Hi fantastic to see you on this morning- really chuffed for you- I hope it opens some doors for you- you deserve it- all the best- love from scotland- uk x
I did this but with a fresh garlic in a tall top cut off bottle. Filled with tap water (rain is best) and I poked three tooth picks between cloves and suspended it in the water. 1 week later it had 2inches of root and cloves were separating. I waited another week and roots were approximately 4 inches and stems approximately 6 inches. Planted in a pot, watered in and nature can do the rest. Many thanks for your videos, I’m learning a lot.
Wacheah from Canada! That means greetings in Cree. I have just discovered your channel and am so delighted. They are easy to follow and understand and you have a nice personality 😊
This garlic thing will come in handy in the quarantine. I just set my onion to get chives and it occurred to me I should be able to do the same with garlic. Thanks bro, sterling work
I just take the small cloves left after using the large pieces of my garlic head and poke them in the ground of my garden... They grow fantastically and I always have garlic even if they have been covered with snow. You have made yours very pretty, while mine are growing everywhere. Clark
The Garlic I've grown lately have all depended on the size of Clover and many other Gardeners I know have experienced the same results. I do wanna try Elephant Garlic this year though. It's always good to pass things down by generation :)
i made a seive out of an old disposable bbq grill and cardboard tubing from shrink wrap from te warehouse i worked in. nice to see somone doing that kind of stuff.
Great garlic video, so simple !! Just goes to show you don't need to spend a fortune to feed yourself and cut back on expenses by buying everything @ B&Q etc. Thank you for your efforts.
I like your videos. This was another cool video. Growing garlic and look at your watering can. Simple yet great idea that works well and doesn't cost 5-10 £.
Me and my daughter are watching this, while watching my daughter said can we us garlic powder Ha Ha ha ha ha. I did laugh out loud. Thank dude for all the help you gave. You know your stuff. Hope you're all better too dude .
I've watched this video twice now to make sure I am doing everything correctly! Technically out of season to plant garlic where I am but I'm just going to try it out and see what happens. I'll be ready when growing season comes around. Thank you for sharing!!
Very nice! I've meant to buy some organic garlic from the grocery store and grow my own at home for ages, but I never did! Now I have worst flu of my life and wish I had homegrown garlic to munch on. Thanks for the inspiration! This is my next project. :)
New to your videos, Tampa Florida and I love it! Thanks for the garlic growing info. Been thinking about that and will start today. My avocado seeds will be started too. ✌️ 😎🇺🇸
Haha phew OK so I planted some garlic the other day and then it occurred to me that I wasn't sure if I did it correctly. I brought garlic bulbs from Wilko and wasn't sure whether you had to plant the whole thing or just the cloves, and if you plant the cloves whether you peel them etc. Thankfully, I did it all correctly as you showed in this video! I'll be so proud if I manage to harvest something out of it!
Wow you really rooted that garlic. Never thought to leave it in the water that long. Normally I wait for some roots and plant it. Will try this next time. Gosh just planted my second lot this morning. Thanks for your video. Darlene Nova Scotia

You do know you can take and cut like 3/4 of the top of the garlic and it will still grow! I recommend just putting in a damp plastic bag in a bright window they germinate in like 2 days and I got 3/4 of garlic every clove to eat for myself. Just make sure you cut off the top end you need the end, that is the part that it connects with the clove.
I watched your other video first and now my one clove has roots, but it’s May in Florida, not going to snow anytime soon. I guess I’ll try and throw it in some soil and put it in the freezer. 😅
good clear and concise video. just what i needed. cheers friend. I'm surprised at how long they take to grow to be honest. better get started. happy growing!

You really don't need to use toothpicks for Garlic. Way too much effort and you will cause damage to the clove. Good luck though :)
Wacheah from Canada! That means greetings in Cree. I have just discovered your channel and am so delighted. They are easy to follow and understand and you have a nice personality 😊
A wet papertowel in the cup accomplishes the same, and you can stand the garlic up better on the paper towel.
My son will be starting to grow today based on what we just learned. :)
First time growing garlic. Couldn't believe how easy and fast they sprouted doing this technique. Easy peasy.

I found that smaller Clovers give smaller Garlic. Have you found the same?
No, They grow as large as the large white heads of cloves.

That's interesting. I will try the same experiment with other varieties
I learned this from my Grandmother and I'm 73 years old, so we've been doing this a long time

Sea weed juice organic they love it, soak in juice hour before planting soak up loads of nutrients.

New Sub thank you for sharing. With the first part of putting the garlic in the water - Do you leave in the shade or sunlight?
Good method is buy 11 litre square pots and put 4 or 5 in each pot about early Nov. Keep them in a glasshouse until the weather picks up end of March ( keep moist and weed free ) When outdoors make sure you never leave the pots go bone dry in hot weather or softnecks bolt and make a scape ( don't bother growing hardnecks in the UK unless its elephant type ) Use garlic fertiliser a couple of times because they are heavy feeders. I planted 300 like that and about 285 worked and bulbed up properly. Ready early June for thermidrome and rust did not have time to take hold properly.
Nice, now I can grow my own garlic in a pot.kudos👏🏻
Short, sweet, simple and most importantly, informative. I enjoyed your video. When are you uploading the follow up video?
I have filmed the harvest footage but I still have over 50 Videos to edit and upload. As soon as I get time I will...
Thanks guy :*
Thank you I’m gonna try to grow my garlic this way tomorrow I planted bulbs last month and there’s nothing growing but weeds
Great video, easy to follow and keeping it simple and short. Your not bad to look at either 😉
Thank you for video, very helpful! Happy Gardening!👍🏽😊
Simple and easy procedure. Well filmed. Kudos to you and your compost !
Thank you! Love your confidence, and now I am going to try to grow garlic. Also, I love your sprinking jug, and pland to duplicate it for my indoor plants, as the spout on most watering cans for indoor seem to over-water in one place, leaving the rest a little too dry...
That's great to hear. Here is my video to make some other useful tools if you haven't seen it already :) ua-cam.com/video/JLPMV3-Ij_o/v-deo.html

It's good to plant them close to another plants, cause bugs stay away from it and don't come around it as well. I love your videos. Subscribed !
Indeed! Garlic does make a really good companion Plant :)
Project Diaries In Brasil we use them as protection for plants, such as roses . It works and it's delicious 😉
Ifound this channel recently and subscribed. I am just learning about growing my own veg etc. I find your advice helpful and very easy to follow.👍
fantastic and easy way to grow garlic
Indeed it is! Very tasty to :)
I'm trying to grow some garlic now from cloves. Great video! Also great voice, very soothing to listen to (:
Have just followed your method it’s great well done
I use sherry glasses for growing garlics. They hold cloves well.
You really make the best tutorials. I really hope that you’re doing well.
You'll get a small Garlic at 4 months with loads of flavour but it takes around 9 months to get a full bulb
I'm going to try this simple method. Thank you. ❤🙏
Lee, as always bloooooomin MARVELLOUS. thanks you fabulous dude.
What a Star you are. Brilliant and very inspiring; you waste nothing. :-)
Mine took 2 days to sprout which is just as fast as micro cress 🙂 thanks a lot for the instructions informatove and clear 👍
Great information. I'll try this when summer comes. Keep sharing.

I can't confirm or deny this fact as I try to grow local and organic varieties
MerAngel12121 lawl I used cheap ol China garlic and it started sprouting on my countertop😜
I can't wait to grow some garlic indoors this winter! My patio is not covered so it will get too waterlogged if I left the container outside!
It's best to grow Garlic outside as they like to cold winter months. Try to make sure your container has really good drainage before sowing the cloves
if only my husband was into gardening like you...oh the possibility that would be...lol
haha! Show him my videos. You never know... ;)
