The Namahage are demon-like spirits in Japanese folklore. Basically they are harsh and terrifying, but they're trying to scare people straight. They walk around asking things like "Is there a loafer here? Is there a crybaby here?" and threaten to take people away if they are. The idea is that the people get scared shitless and start toughening up. So they're good spirits in the end, or at least have good intentions. The song is basically just repeating the folklore and trying to communicate how scary they are. And yeah, the festival is just to scare kids. lol Like a reminder. "If you're lazy, the namahage will take you away."
At first I'll admit i misunderstood them. While they are new to me, and my previous jokes about them aside, they definitely deserve the most honorable of bows to their perseverance through over 3 decades
Think the band is the namahage, from wiki: "The frightfully dressed men, armed with deba knives (albeit wooden fakes[3] or made of papier-mâché) and toting a teoke (手桶, "hand pail" made of wood),[2] march in pairs or threes going door-to-door making rounds of people's homes, admonishing children who may be guilty of laziness or bad behavior,[2] yelling phrases like "Are there any crybabies around?" (泣く子はいねがぁ, Nakuko wa inee gā?)[5] or "Are naughty kids around?" (悪い子はいねえか, Waruiko wa inee ka?) in the pronunciation and accent of the local dialect. "
Thanks! to another song of Ningen Isu. Again, ninGen isu. But there’s far more important thing right now than correction of the letter of title screen for the band. As Masked Demons Namahage tell to you all… Don’t cry or complain about circumstances or instructions comes from local government. Don’t go out and around the town without any particular important reason. Keep staying home as possible, but don’t be a loafer and do something good and possible indoors… wait.
Check out their song "Life for Sale" and "Heartless Scat" The musicvideos.. and don't forget subtitles. Ningen Isu is like the Grandfthers of J-rock. The Grandmothers actually started before Ningen Isu: Show-Ya. They are a couple years older than Ningen Isu. ua-cam.com/video/0RLc_HwaNbE/v-deo.html

Glad you like them. I'm a big fan. I knew you'd give props to their dedication. That guitar solo showed 30 years of chops right there.

#NingenIsu adds #Minyo , folk genre from Japan, to Heavy Metal - very original!!!!

That's an interesting that they wrote that then from the namahahe point of view.
@@ShadowRyu Wait till you get to the BABYMETAL song 'Catch Me If You Can'.
Those lyrics are from the opposite point of view. : )
Correct👍
Try to find a live version of this song. What you hear is a theremin - the guitarrist plays it on many songs, to add an eerie sound.

30 years .... *30 YEARS* ... wow! That's a long long time to be in the shadows.
😒 yeah they weren’t in the shadows in Japan.
