In my opinion I think this song & the lyrics have to do with him dealing with the loss of his wife and if anyone else has lost anyone important in their own lives either friends or family including me, honestly ☺.
I think that was the purpose of this whole album. Just about every song is touching and very powerful, and this one is my favorite of them all.
I love Danny Gokey's voice; so beautiful. :D

This song meant alot to me cuz I lost the love of my life in 2011. Then before 2000 lost my mom. Already had lost Dad in 1984. I hadn't been able to mourn until now in 2022. Thank you Danny for sharing your pain.Love you. God Bless
I lost my grandma in 2018 and a very good friend in 2021, he was only 17 years old and one of the kindest souls I know. Every time I listen to this song, I think of them and I guess that was the artists intention. They moved mountains in my life as your deceased loved ones might have done for you. I might be a lot younger than you, I have much less life experience, but if I imagine one thing that never changes, is that in our memories there will always be a light and a shadow side. We mourn that they are past and gone and we cannot rewrite any of them, but still we are thankful that we have those memories. Cause in the end it is all we got in decades on this earth. So, we gonna hold on to them.
