I live in Mozambique and acquired some land in the bush, 7 kms from the road. It took me nearly three years as well, borehole for water, tank for water, hole for septic tank, build a bathroom, pipes, pipes, pipes then buy a toilet and get it installed. Long project, but the joy of a flushing toilet in the bush! Congratulations….
How you've both managed to make the installation of a toilet become a video which contains drama, sinking hearts, soaring souls and a breath holder (in the best dramatic sense) is a testament to your skill both as videographers and property rehab experts! LOVE watching your progress on this house and garden. Good work, both of you!
As someone who had their bathroom redone and didn’t have a toilet for 4 days almost, first, don’t know how you managed 3 years. Hats off!second, enjoy!😂
From a very old plumber here, a sink is in the kitchen/laundry/utility room, and a basin is in the bathroom, shower room and cloakroom, a wash hand basin, a pedestal basin, vanity unit has a basin, from an old git 👍
I am continuously amazed by your patience and sense of dry wit. you both work soooo well together! Thank you for making this difficult installation entertaining. You're going to have so many stories to tell...
I never expected I would jump for joy to see a toilet working in a video thumbnail, lol. Congratulations - you worked hard for that. May you have many comfortable moments there :)
I’ve been a heating engineer for over 50 year and you guys fitting that loo had me in bit 😅thanks for a fantastic video I’ve been waiting you guys from the start,I love the way you work together, well done ✔️ the next one will easier 🥰🥰🥰💕👍🇬🇧👍
I definitely feel your joy on the installation of the toilet. I have used a 5gal bucket and a bag many times when we were building our dream home. Having a usable toilet feels like royalty 😊
@@rclose23 love this thinking! I (Kylie) have done a lot of travelling and volunteering in developing countries, it definitely has made me aware of just how lucky I am to have what I have (luxuries and other things)
If I had to pay you by the hour I’d be broke! Lol. I remember outhouse days from my childhood and I’m so grateful for indoor plumbing and proper sanitation every time I flush. We tend to take so much for granted. Enjoy the moment! 👏
Hats off to your jewel in the crown. A flushing loo. I thought you could have finished the video off with you sat on the loo, reading a newspaper. Well done you two!.
Congratulations , one observation the toilet is mechanically fastened to the floor. The two holes at the bottom of the toilet is for screws the go thru the base to fasteners in the inside the toilets .
Congratulations. Toilets are not easy! I laughed out loud at the phrase, "That's the rest of our day sorted" - oh the pleasure of just repeatedly flushing a toilet!
congratulations It's one of those moments where you're happy about things that used to be taken for granted We only had one bucket available for 5 months greetings from madeira PS another idea I don't have a toilet on the floor, but I have tiles on the wall I saw this tip over 15 years ago and do it again and again I lay the basin on its side or upside down and put a layer of silicone on the surface, then smooth it out with my finger and let it dry Does not cause any scratches during assembly and is a perfect decoupling
The headline flashed up on my iPad as I was checking emails. I made an internal scream .. quite involuntarily.. it just happened. Congratulations to you both.. you know it will be your favourite, even though you may have more, there is nothing like the joy of the first😂😂👏👏🐨🐨 PS… celebrate with lots of wine.. you have a new loo now😂😂 (Australian humour😂)
I am SO disappointed that you didn't make best use of undoubted opportunities for innuendo! No flange jokes? Guy "Is it in?" Kylie "I don't know, you tell me: is it in"
Nothing better then the sound of a toilet flushing and the toilet tank refilling with water... noisy or not enjoy while you can. Keep well. Love your videos.
It's all in the toilet. The little things in life are sometimes the heaviest. Cheers to the flush and the soft-landing lid. Thank you for sharing your milestone. :)
A massive milestone indeed!! We installed our flush toilet (on my birthday!) in the summer of 2022 after about 15 years... And on our other house it was more like 20 years 🙄 Okay, both of these places we only lived in for up to half of each year, but still. The last straw was when our three children, plus two significant others (who we had not met before) came for Christmas and severely overloaded the composting toilet. Guess who cleaned it out. 🤢 I can certainly identify with your jubilation!!
I have to say, after 42 years on the planet using drinking water to flush the toilets I used it has been a truly rewarding experience to move off grid and not have a flushing toilet. We could probably have a “normal “ toilet, either using the existing pipe that goes to god knows where, or with a clever worm composting and soak away system. But frankly where we live (SE Bulgaria) is a dry climate, our water goes off all the time, and it is unlikely to get better, so I prefer to use any available water (we have 15000 litres of rainwater storage) to keep our food plants going not sending my 💩 a few metres away from the dunny 😂
As one who has installed American toilets, I weighed the pros and cons of each in my mind as I watched your instal. It is interesting to observe the different design philosophies, and I would welcome a professional's opinion who has experience with each.
Oh the joy at a flushing toilet. I think there should be brackets that fix to the floor and the toilet is fixed to them through the holes on either side of the base.
hi just a little note the pan connector should fit into the straight 4.5inch pipe with a bit of lube, don't use female ends and washing up liquid is a good lubricant and cheaper than that of the pipe manufactures, hope this helps
Your plumbling of the toilet brought back memories. My husband put in a new toilet and cistern in our downstairs cloakroom the room was nearly half the size or yours and he had no room for manoeuvring - the air was blue with his cussing!!
*YAY finally a Bog that works... enjoy having some quiet time... reading the paper in peace... when a waffle of a smell or two when someone does a smelly one when all will get to smell that not so sweet aroma waffling thru out.... which will make you get a door put on quick smart lol 🙂.*
This is why I have come to become such a big fan of wall hung toilets. Yes, you would need to prep differently, including furring out from a masonry wall, and aligning the drain to match the furring.
Think this is the first time I have EVER said, how pleased I am to see a flushing toilet installation. But ‘tiz true, I was on the edge of my seat (not the toilet seat). Oh dear, I could keep going with the joking, but jokes apart, this is such a great addition back into your home and CONGRATULATIONS. I did think at one point the instructions were Ikea-esk, and loved seeing how you worked together in solving the situation. For two people doing all this work yourselves, you are now able to move on to another room, very happy for you. 👏👏👏
I’m very impressed..! That toilet fit ‘flush’ (no pun intended) against that wall..! You should be very proud of yourselves, indeed..! Never mind that it might not have been on the other side… it fits properly on the side you can see..! Good final result..! ❤❤❤❤❤👍🏻 x
This one is small because it’s a compact toilet …. normally they’re much bigger. But the small version works really well for this tiny room (holds 5 litres which is plenty for a flush)
Yay 🎉 Congratulations as a relatively new subscriber I am about 3/4 through binge watching (would have been finished but had a hell of a week) and am so loving getting to know you two 😊 I am a disabled mum (wheelchair user) to 3 kids with Autism, 2 severely with a hefty dose of ADHD and other issues in the mix. My life is never boring 😂
Wow , you two finally returned to the civilization !😂 Flashing toilet , thats a big milestone, congratulations to both , long hours , days weeks and years , but all that hardworking is paying off Wel done
🎉 congratulations! Oh how I empathise with your excitement about a flushing loo. Here I was thinking that I had it bad for having to wait 2 and a half years for my flushing loo! And yes, I celebrated that milestone as well. There's quite a few things in life you can go without.... a flushing loo is not one of them!
So pleased for you! The King & Queen of patience deserve a flushing throne! (How were u toileting before this? Using the old one upstairs with a bucket to flush it?)
I am glad you included footage of the flushing toilet prior to the footage of the install, because I can't watch psychological thrillers unless I know the outcome (no pun intended) ahead of time. 😅
We know the feeling of joy at a flushing toilet 😂 but 3 years is nothing, we were 6 years. The thing is we actually got used to it. Admire your patience & humour, love from Spain ❤
I worked at a summer camp for a couple summers and they had only latrines. First thing I'd do when I got home was to flush the commode. So satisfying! Its become common NOT to silicone around the toilet base-that way you can see if there are any leaks. However, our commodes bolt into a ring that is secured to the flooor.
Such a surgical operation to go through, to have an operational toilet system. My God, the one liners were having my hubby and I in stitches, intentional or not😉💋😂❣️
Finally, a well-deserved throne for all your hard work. And may your future be flushed with continued success. 😃🌻🐈💞🇬🇧
Very punny! Lol
Regardless, you are very right! They've achieved a real milestone. I hope that future projects will be as successful.
It nearly drove them round the bend though! Glad they have a lid on it now. 😉

how the two of you do not go insane is beyond me. You are two of the most patient people I know!

I could sell you that secret knowledge for the reasonable price.
Now I completely understand why most plumbers hate installing toilettes! It's a very complicate endeavor!😮💨🤪😤😡
I never congratulated someone before on getting a toilet but WHOOHOO CONGRATS! Patience is a virtue.
From a very old plumber here, a sink is in the kitchen/laundry/utility room, and a basin is in the bathroom, shower room and cloakroom, a wash hand basin, a pedestal basin, vanity unit has a basin, from an old git 👍
Must be my Aussie roots coming through … we call it a bathroom sink and bathroom cabinet. I’ve never got the hang of calling it a vanity
@@MAKEDOGROW Maybe you have to be “Vain” to call it that?
English language has loads of differences in what different countries call things. This might just be an example.
Vanity is a very American term. I've never heard it called that in the UK.
What a beautiful, beautiful thing BEHOLD! 🎉🎉🎉
I have never been as enthralled (or should that be Enthroned) at witnessing excitement at the fitting of a Bog, brilliant.
I came here for the comments and I’m not disappointed! 🏆
That was a shit load of work 😂 but something you can enjoy for the rest of your life

I was so excited to get rid of our ‘pee bucket’. The walk to the house (from the tent) is longer, but so worth it 😃
How can I replicate this sort of experience for my children to infuse a real sense of gratitude for all the little “luxuries” of Modern life.
