I drive for RFTA and didn't know how this looked and what the fuss was all about, as I do not ski or board...Very nice footage and thank you for just jumping straight into the video, Much appreciation!!
I know the feeling. I had to miss the 20/21 ski season due to the pandemic, and the emergency situation at work I had to stick around and deal with the whole time. Hopefully I can hit the slopes for the 21/22 ski season!
We just skied there today, had to stop like every 30 seconds to one minute. It was exhausting. I think I’ll try to go straight down like you just did next time. Great video
@thesteveterryproject9611 is correct. I start at almost the very top of Silver Bell, to skiers right of the Silver Queen Gondola. Then after a bit, cross under the gondola, followed by the Ajax Express. Then go down Pussyfoot. And finally, at 1:33 you see Bonnie's restaurant come into view, right above where Spar Gulch starts. Admittedly I had to take out a map to figure out the details. I'd have started filming a couple dozen yards up, at the very top, but an absolutely massive crowd was about to depart, so I hurried off to not get stuck behind them. Thanks for watching!
Does the old Bell Mountain lift still run? Before the gondola came, that was the only way to the top. It took 3 hours to get from Little Nell to the Sundeck. Now it takes only 20 minutes.
I'd never skied Aspen Mountain before, and I'm not seeing it on the trail map. So unless they moved it elsewhere, and stuck a new name on it, I'd say no.
@@Vinny.X On an average crowded sunny Sunday, the line to get on took an hour to get through. At times there were over 500 people in that lift line, then another line of 500 people on "lift 3". You spent more time in lift lines than skiing. The gondola and high speed quads changed everything.
According to Wikipedia the longest run at Aspen Mountain is 3 miles. So looking at the trail map, and doing some rough napkin math...I might of skied for about 2.5 to 2.75 miles in the video.
Aspen Mountain and Aspen Highlands lack any beginner runs. I'd avoid them for now if I were you. Aspen Buttermilk is nearby and has plenty of beginner runs; and even the harder runs are not that bad at all. And Aspen Snowmass is a bit further out, has a few beginner runs available, but lots of crazy hard runs to be sure to avoid. I'd advise hiring a ski instructor for either, even if only for an hour, as they can help you find the right terrain for your ability level.
Have fun! I highly suggest booking ski lessons, especially if you haven't or don't do much skiing. Aspen and Vail are very advanced ski resorts and as well, if you aren't used to the altitude that'll effect your effort if not careful.
Also, three other ski areas owed by the same company are nearby. Aspen Highlands, Aspen Buttermilk, and Aspen Snowmass. Makes for some great variety if you're ever in that area.
I was looking to do a long and smooth video. So I did my video run on their longest blue slope. They have plenty of steeps tucked away all over the place though. I've got myself skiing the steeps at various other ski resorts though. Though rarely anywhere near this fast. Thanks for watching!
gar nicht schlecht, aber du solltest noch mehr snowtouch carving machen, schneeler und steiler in die kurven..more speed. more Zentrifugal und petal kräfte
No, but Aspen Mountain is owned by the same company that owns Aspen Snowmass, Aspen Highlands, and Aspen Buttermilk. All fairly close together off the same main road. Here's a direct link to Aspen Mountain: www.aspensnowmass.com/four-mountains/aspen-mountain Thanks for watching!
I'm doing a long, blue run so I can keep the POV nice and smooth, for a good while. Aspen has plenty of steeps scattered about all over. They'd involve me slowing down, and making lots of turns though. I have videos of me skiing steep runs at other ski resorts, like Jackson Hole. Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for posting this, I’ve always wondered what it would be like to ski down this mountain. Pretty awesome.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks! Lived in Colorado for 3 yrs, wife is from GJ and I’d never been to Aspen, looks great!
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for putting that together, good memories of when I was there five or so years ago. Awesome.
Great run
I drive for RFTA and didn't know how this looked and what the fuss was all about, as I do not ski or board...Very nice footage and thank you for just jumping straight into the video, Much appreciation!!
You're welcome! And you should totally get out on the slopes someday. Though the other mountains nearby are much better for learning.
Thanks. James in these lockdown days it's always good to see a nice run on a sunny day.😎
I know the feeling. I had to miss the 20/21 ski season due to the pandemic, and the emergency situation at work I had to stick around and deal with the whole time. Hopefully I can hit the slopes for the 21/22 ski season!
Looks so beautiful!
It's a great video. Thanks for posting it!
Glad you enjoyed it! ⛷

Very awesome, Im not ready for this yet!

Amazing
“top of galaxy”
I loved skiing on Ajax! Very hard though.
Very cool!
This is really amazing
Thanks! I do love a good cruise down a mountain. 🙂
Smooth!
nice run, nonstop, top to bottom.
Thanks!
Excellent 👌👍
That was cool!
I grew up in Aspen- The footage starts from Spar Gulch, which is about half way down. Otherwise, nice day for skiing
Looks to me like he starts at Silver Bell at the top and doesn’t end up in Spar Gulch until about 1:50

Good eye! That is correct. Thanks for watching, and expect more ski adventures to come!
I really hope to go there some day! Great video! Bye from Italy
Love it! Thank you!
You are very welcome! ⛷

They are running it more this year because of covid-19. Why would it take 3 hours by chair?

@@kevinswales7003 Wow, that is crazy!
Amazing trail and speed. The camera is mounted on the chest??👏👏How long is this trail..Aspen rocks!!!
Heck Yes !!!!!!
wow, very beautiful and picturesque !) How long is this descent?
as you can see vide is 6min and 44 sec!

Ajax is so beautiful 😍
Puts all my "local" mountains in the mid-Atlantic region to shame. 😋
I am going to aspen in a few weeks. this video is awesome! I am terrified! lol do they have places for beginners to ski there?
Ajax is a advanced mountain, but around the area theirs snow mass, and buttermilk. These mountains are more for beginners.
Aspen Mountain and Aspen Highlands lack any beginner runs. I'd avoid them for now if I were you.

Heading back out in early March. If you are staying in Snowmass, ski at Snowmass. If you are staying in Aspen take the few mile shuttle to Buttermilk.
Yohooooo!!
Yeheeeeee!
Eeeeehaaaaaaa!
Cowabunga! 🐢😁🍕
It's soooo long!
Assuming this is in the US, which state is Aspen Mountain in?
Colorado.
Also, three other ski areas owed by the same company are nearby. Aspen Highlands, Aspen Buttermilk, and Aspen Snowmass. Makes for some great variety if you're ever in that area.
Ok, thank you!
This is the "best" ski resort in the US? Compared to switzerland tis is like skiing off a driveway slope. Still a cool area to be in and live tough!

Is this snowmass?
No, but Aspen Mountain is owned by the same company that owns Aspen Snowmass, Aspen Highlands, and Aspen Buttermilk. All fairly close together off the same main road.

great post // thanks so much // now that's what i call "hauling ASSpen"
Is this ajax or buttermilk.... or snowmass??
Ajax. Many people also refer to it as "Aspen Mountain".
just fun
That is my line!
Absolutely amazing for cruising!
sounds icy
Not at all by my east coast standards. It was hard enough to ski fast, but soft enough to easily dig in an edge when needed. I thought it was great!
Not bad. It's quite empty.
bro i go here a lot and you did a not fun run try diffrent ones that are very fun
Steeper than it looks. You got some strong legs.
great slope bad skiing.
Noo ): I thought it was hard so I not go their I go their next time
真棒
的確
Nah europe Alps are better
Not very steep I would have thought Aspen would be tougher, but really long like Cupp Run at Snowshoe WV 👍
Cupp is a lot steeper than that.
