Here is a fight song that gives some homage to Larry bird as he almost got the Sycamores to the national championship-they met their match when they faced Magic Johnson and his Michigan State team in 1979. Now if you ever go to Terre Haute, you will see that their mascot is a fox named Sam, but he is a Sycamore! (His full name is Sycamore Sam.) The reason why the school's mascot is basically based on the TREE is because of a weird vote-that the name would not catch on, but it did-it was named after the many trees that are present in the Wabash River Valley. The mascot used to be the Teachers, then Indians, but it was due to this vote that Sycamores is the nickname-it is unlike the heavily parodied tree mascot of Stanford.
The fight song is a darling one when you listen to the fourth stanza in the word "victory"- there is some sort of chord that makes it distinctive, possibly if you have taken music theory, chord V7/V. When the band sings, do not the subtle change in pronoun and definite article. Do note also the cadence at the end, it is common to have this ending in fight songs.
Comment appropriately-as if you are talking to children.
