  • In this episode of the Canadian Immigration Podcast, host Mark Holthe is joined by immigration lawyers Alicia Backman-Beharry and special guest Pantea Jafari to delve into the recent significant changes to Canada's immigration landscape. We explore the sudden closure of the Self-Employed Persons program and the stringent new caps imposed on the Start-Up Visa program. We discuss the implications of these changes, which have raised concerns about the future pathways for artists, athletes, and entrepreneurs aiming to contribute to Canada's cultural and economic vibrancy.
Pantea Jafari provides an in-depth analysis of how these changes impact Iranian applicants and the broader implications for immigration policy integrity. The discussion also covers the government's rationale behind these drastic measures, the potential long-term effects on Canada's ability to attract international talent, and the strategic shifts in immigration policy.
This episode is essential for anyone involved in or interested in Canadian business and cultural immigration programs, offering expert insights into navigating the evolving immigration policies and understanding their profound impacts.

I have one question - Whether remote work for a Canadian employer done outside Canada (from one of their office locations in India) can be counted as Foreign work experience, while still being paid in CADs to a Canadian bank account and paying Canadian taxes?
