@@Lord_Buckles marvel is just as bad that thay spoil suprise character's as well think Dr strange multi verse of madness with Patrick Stewart as professor X right in the trailer.
I like the continuity of 13 first encountering the cybermen and being affected by their previous encounter where she lost her previous companion and doesn't want the current companions to go anywhere near the lone cyberman.
I love how the Doctor _immediately_ treats the Cyberman in World Enough and Time as threatening, but _not_ hostile. It shows that he’s able to recognise that they’re so early in development that they don’t know him and are still relatively civil.
Love a Mondasian Cyberman....they look so harmless which is their appeal I guess. Would love to see more of them in future, same with the new Dakek paradigm let's see them used more often rather than the bronze ones...or as it's time travel the original type Daleks for a story or two.
I really hope we get to see more of the Mondasians, too. It's the blankness of their faces, combined with how those faces also suggest the contours of a human face, the way they move, and especially the human hands coming out of the suit that make them more viscerally frightening to me. They propose an element of body horror that I don't really get from the stompies.
@@lunalass7767 Yeah the Mondasian cyberman are easily the most frightening of all the cybermen. The season 10 finale was filled with that sort of visceral horror. It is the best approach to cyberman the show will probably ever see.
@@lunalass7767 I feel what nearly happen to Amy Pond the scariest cyber man clip. I remember watching the episode. seeing that metal head opening up was really frightening. do you think the cyberman expected Amy to put her head inside it.
I have been a big fan of the Daleks, and Cybermen for years. That last Cyberman scene was really freaky, and disturbing. I thought the Cybermen needed the organic side of them to function at all but I guess that wasn't the case. Terrifying to imagine a dead Cyberman's metal frame lurching about looking for a new host to 'upgrade'.
If there is any Cyberman scene that creeps me out, it will always be when the Cyber Controller emerges from his tomb in Tomb of the Cybermen. When him and his Cybermen stand there, they look so lifeless yet alive. Especially in the close ups of the Controller's face when Kleig tries to talk to him, as he just sits there silent and imposing, giving no indication of his next move. Then, when he finally talks, his lines "You belong to us. You shall be like us." in the monotone voice those Cybermen had was amazing.
and that god damned little mouth flap with nothingness behind it. people meme about daleks being scary but nah, i loved daleks the second i saw them, those early cybermen though were the shit hiding behind my bedroom door at 2am
I don’t know why it took so long for someone to go, “Hey! What if we turn one of the Doctor’s companions into a Cyberman? Wouldn’t that be devastating?”
Unless I’m wrong aren’t the cybermen that the master created still a threat? Like I recall the doctor escaping but that ship or planet they were on was massive
Following the evacuation, Nardole defended the evacuees of Floor 0507 from the remaining Cybermen on Floor 1056 on a near-daily basis, (WC: The Best of Days) until their conflict was "sorted", although they were still attacked by the Cybermats, (PROSE: Twice Upon a Time) whose failsafe systems had been deactivated again, (PROSE: Alit in Underland) on an annual basis in the spring for at least several centuries, even when Nardole eventually died. what will ALWAYS make bills reveal as the FIRST mondasian cyberman ever made (According to moffat at least). isnt just the tragedy. But also how they chose to cinematically reveal it, the Mondasian cyberman is more terrifying more ominous and more grim then any other cyberman out of there. for several reasons: A. The Individuality. Each Mondasian Cyberman is slightly unique because each person is slightly unique in their imperfections. one person may find their blood replaced, their kidney and skin in certain stitches missing. While another may find that their bones have been replaced with titanium supports cause they were too small to be perfect, and their muscles grafted in several places. B. Their Seemingly harmless nature, is attributed to the fact they dont WANT to kill, they dont NEED to kill and they shouldnt HAVE to kill. Their simple purpose is to be superior to regular humans, and to make sure others are converted. The Fate that they lead you too is slow, it is conducted by living, thinking humans. and will be entirely personalised towards you, so you dont have to be unique anymore, it is irony at its finest. C. The Psychology of bill Potts herself, though reinforced by her time under the monks's oppression. Found the fate to be so terrifying that she had to BLOCK it out, she perceived herself as mortal, she saw herself with hair, a voice of her own, freedom at its most. but the more she saw past the inconsistencies, the more she saw the Doctor was inevitably right. The only inconsistency. D. The body language of the cyberman is perfect for something like a technologically advanced human, the mouthing and tension of the jaw that subtly happens when the cyberman speaks, the slow limp when they walk so autonomously, and the slow mimicking of tragedy it does when it extends its hand out so slowly, it is perfect. E. Finally, the face structure of it is the perfect thing. Even when the Cyberman SEEMS to convey emotion, there is no soul in that face. It watches and stares and as all of the previous qualities come into your head, you are reminded about how THEY were once human, they are not human anymore. And even when you give them that part of themselves back, its all for nothing. They Feel Cold, they can only think about what they are now, and that they can NEVER EVER return to who they once were, no matter how much you put back. All of it for me is why In my Opinion, The Mondasian Cyberman is the saddest, most terrifying, and most impactful way ANY person, Young or old, Man or Woman, White or Black, Could ever die. Truly no worse way to die. No worse way at all
World Enough and Time + The Doctor Falls are very well written and directed. They're not perfect but they are both really good. The music choices are excellent too. Capaldi is absolutely out of his mind in these two, his acting is stunning. If I could change a couple of things, I would never reveal the Cybermen or John Simm at all leading up to this serial. Show us the patients but that's it. Save those reveals for when Missy finds out the ship is from Mondas and that Bill has been made into a cyberman. What makes this part even more frustrating is that the Razor identity reveal would totally have worked. To this day after several rewatches, it still would be convincing. I'd also like to have seen the Mondasian cybermen getting upgraded over time. Not a whole progression through all their different forms, but watching Mondasian parts be replaced with Cybusmen parts and then the weapons grade versions later on. It's kinda ridiculous that the clunky Mondasian designs stuck around with no upgrades and they could also fly. I love the small touches with Pearl's acting after Bill gets converted. She noticeably stomps the ground when walking, she's much more stiff. There's so much thats so good.
