      Dimash performed The Diva Dance for a special Spring Festival show while part of The Singer 2017. He sings a duet with Li Yugang (male star of the Peking Opera, specializing in the female - "nandan" - roles). This duet will blow your mind!

    First of all...thank you so much for your humility in discussing your thoughts regarding this overwhelmingly talented man. You consistently remain in awe of his talent yet you NEVER pretend NOT to be shocked by the beauty that such a gifted man & such a gifted voice can produce. Secondly...thank you so much for NOT talking down to those of us who wish to learn but do not have the amount of education/understanding that you obviously have (no doubt) due to years of study & sacrifice for the benefit of education. @@TheWordSmith365you might do some research on the premise of the Drunken Concubine song. I don’t have the whole story, but I know Li Yugang tends to play female roles in Chinese theater. So he is the concubine and Dimash is the emperor. The two songs are quite short, so it makes sense to put them together. It’s a pretty cool collab. Looking forward to your reaction❣️

He was the youngest ever competitor and the first foreigner to be invited to take part. As a complete unknown in China he wasn’t expected to go far but he astonished everyone by winning the very first episode with his performance of SOS and finished runner up to Sandy Lam, famous Hong Kong singer/actress, an overnight sensation in China and global phenomenon. Here are all his Singer performances with highlights for you watch at your leisure. IMO some of his best performances are from this show:

    Thank you so much for explaining all this. It's very interesting. You explain it so well❤
    What fascinates me the most is, that he sang this song in his concert where he had already been on stage for almost 2 hours. Just unbelievabel🤯.
    And there is another awesome version of Diva Dance. It’s called Drunken Concubine and it is from the Shanghai Spring Festival Gala in China. He sings with Li Yugang, a great Chinese Opera singer who usually plays a female in classic Peking opera. He is a very famous singer in China. The two harmonize so well together. It’s really fantastic. I love it and I’m sure you will like it, too🥰.
    You can react this two songs together because the Bastau version is really short (1.42 minutes). Some other reactors do. There are also more little vocal-surprises in this second video.

    Thank you, Carl. Most reactors would just be completely dumb founded, or the other extreme would be to be overly critical or in complete disbelieve of the talent that is Dimash. You give educational and insightful analysis and that is much appreciated. The thing with Dimash is that one can only expect the unexpected. Yes, many has tried to sing the "unsingable by human" Diva Dance, but most don't come as close as Dimash, and Dimash is a man. Actually, in the movie, they took the female opera singer's voice and computer enhanced it to be so "Alien like" that no human can even try to sing it. Yet here we are listnenign to Dimash singing it. Many others had said that Dimash isn't human or that he is an alien. Dimash actually added that last high note that was not in the movie soundtrack of the Diva Dance. He threw it in there just because he could. Thanks.

    I really appreciate your analysis! I have heard other opera singers analyze Dimash's performances and voice. I absolutely love watching your reactions to Dimash. Thank you for the way you explained the dynamics of every layer of Dimash's voice. It is easy to understand and follow and helps us understand his techniques. Plus, you are so soft-spoken that it makes me want to listen to what you are saying. Not only was the "alien" on The Fith Element not real, but the voice was also computer generated and not that of any human. I do not understand where Dimash finds the energy when performing these concerts. He may have been talking with someone from his crew and just went right into the song, like "Okay, why not do this"?, which is in between performances. Dimash never ceases to amaze. Your analysis of Dimash's vocal techniques and abilities, makes me appreciate all the more the intense work and studying he has put into his music. He stated once that if you were to cut open his heart, you would see music. I believe him. Thank you again for another informative video. Can hardly wait for more.

    Thank you for another great reaction. I like the way you explain technical terms in easy to understand language. For those people, like me, who do not have musical training, it is very helpful and gives us a greater appreciation of just how incredibly proficient and well trained Dimash is. There are two other versions of Dimash singing the Diva Dance: Confessa +Diva Dance during the Singer 2017 competition and with Li Yugang ( Drunken Concubine +Diva Dance). Dimash is exceptionally gifted when working with other singers, be it male or female.
    He always complements them and never overpowers them (which he very easily could). I’ve heard that he even changes the speed of his vibrato to match his partner. Some duet examples include Swan Goose (with Tengri), Jasmine (with Wu Tong), Ti Amo Cosi (trio with Lara Fabian and Aidia Gatifullina) and his latest duet, Join Hands, with Wei Wei. I would love to hear your reactions to these songs.

      Also, not sure if you look at other reactors but there is this one guy who clearly does not like Dimash (that's suspicious in and of itself). Thanks for the reaction. I enjoy your concise definitions of the musical terms. Most of these I have learned over the past almost 2 years since discovering Dimash, but I think it's useful to include them as not all reactors do. There is a fun little clip of Dimash singing "Queen of the Night" in a dark stairwell while another guy pretends to do the singing! The reactor from "The Charismatic Voice" did an interesting video on various versions of "Diva Dance'. I think she only included those who sang in the original key so Dimash was not included. She agreed with you that he was a semitone lower and that this didn't really matter since he is a guy singing a woman's song! If you would like to learn more about Dimash, I highly recommend a series by LiLaSi called "The Ultimate Guide to Dimash". It is a series of 10-12 videos. Each is between 5 and 10 minutes in length and deals with one or two aspects of Dimash. They use clips from interviews and concerts and are very accurate and extremely well done and informative. I think you would enjoy them and if you decided to react to a few I'm sure we would all enjoy hearing your thoughts on them. As for songs to react to next, I'd like to see what you think of "El Amor en Ti". It's from a recent concert and it will give you more of Dimash than you have had before! 🇨🇦

    Great reaction as usual, man! Voice classifications are mostly self-imposed limitations and are counterproductive in my opinion, they keep singers from experimenting and pushing their own limits vocally. Thankfully we have Dimash, who doesn't let himself to be restricted by these silly labels of voice classifications!

    Oh! I always get excited when you have a new Dimash video! Your knowledge of bel canto will be invaluable in understanding a lot of what Dimash is able to do that leaves many reactors/analysts confused. Dimash mastered the bel canto style so perfectly that it gave him freedom to break its rules. We see one of his best examples of the bel canto "silent breathing" technique in "Ave Maria". His mastery of silent breathing is what allows him to use very anti bel canto audible breathing in "Ikanaide" for an incredible effect. A lot of reactors note both the seeming lack of breathing in the former, and the conspicuous use of breath in the latter, and ask of both..."How??". The answer is bel canto, of which Dimash is arguably the best living example of how it can be used both formally and rebelliously.

      Thank you so much for your kind and insightful comment! I am deeply grateful for your appreciation of Dimash's unique talent and your recognition of the intricate nuances of bel canto that he incorporates into his performances. Dimash's ability to master the bel canto style with such finesse truly sets him apart as an exceptional artist. Your understanding of the silent breathing technique in "Ave Maria" and its contrast with the deliberate use of breath in "Ikanaide" showcases a keen observation of his versatility and artistic expression. It's truly remarkable how Dimash not only adheres to the traditional rules of bel canto but also fearlessly pushes its boundaries, creating a captivating and powerful musical experience. Thank you once again for your thoughtful insight!

    Everything that Dimash does is impressive! My favourite version of this is the one he did, back to back with 'Confessa". { Have a look at that / react to this too. I think it's still from the 2017 Chinese Singer show.} It's a dramatic juxtaposition of styles also, and his 'Drama' too in these pieces is enormous fun!!! { Would look completely over the top for anyone else but him! }
    * Everyone wonders how on earth Dimash { anyone! } can have almost 8 octaves!?! His early vocal teachers were also curious, so they had a proper look down his throat and found that he just naturally has longer vocal chords that the average { well ANY! } male.
    * Genetics and strong musical influences during foetal development and early infancy are also part of this picture. He comes from a culture - and family - where playing instruments and singing is large part of family life. Both parents are professional singers, and his mother in particular has a particularly clear and bright soprano voice. So, clearly, his neuro-development was tuning his 'voice' to perfect pitch even whilst still in the womb!
    * Then, he was up on stage with his parents, taking bows from the audience before he could walk or talk, so the stage IS genuinely his 2nd home!
    * Also, Dimash has said that as a child - and throughout puberty - his music teachers regularly required him to sing both male and female parts. Whether these were specialised techniques they used to help him maintain and strengthen his upper register while the lower was developing I don't know. Highly likely. Whatever they did together - it worked!
    {# And I've pondered since learning this... If such techniques were available in the days of say; Farinelli, is it possible that the Castrati didn't need to be ?! }
    When you put this entire package together, including; that he's had the best vocal training in the land since the age of 5, has maintained a strict {Olympian style} DAILY training schedule which includes swimming to expand lung capacity, and martial arts for core body strength ] AND that he's all about continuous vocal and creative development >>> there isn't a snowflake's chance in hell! that anyone else on the planet can ever catch up - nor keep up!
    So... other singers can either lower their heads to their laptops and sob gently - or wildly! { not recommended 🤣} Or just accept that there's only one Dimash, and be inspired! And then get on with being the best that YOU can be with whatever talents You have to hand!

    You give the right balance of explaining without over explaining and I appreciate learning since I have no musical background at all. I watch all your videos. I also like the duet of him singing with Li Yugang, "He specializes in "nándàn" roles, which is male who plays female role in Peking opera and is also known for his ability to sing in both male and female voices." So hearing him might be interesting for you to hear.

    Thank you for your lovely reactions. I have watched many people react to Dimash, including many vocal coaches and music professionals. Your reactions are some of my very favorites. I love your explanations, you provide just enough information in a very understandable way. I also love your reactions and subtle sense of humor. I don't think I've seen you react to Love is Like a Dream yet. It's one of my all time favorite Dimash/Igor performamces (make sure it's the performance where Dimash is wearing the wine colored velvet suit, I think it's on Igor's channel).
