I saw in you an image of myself years ago, working the small dairy. Only difference, I lacked much of the facilities you have. God speed, world needs people as you.
Seeing you working on the Heuboden(E: Haylooft) makes me really desperate for summer! Hearing the farmer in the morning mowing the grass field watching him while breakfast. Knowing it's gonna be a beautiful day... When the grass is dry grabbing a box or two full for our rabbits storing it in the garage, knowing its gonna smell amazing. Watching the farmer baling the hay with the big machinery build for performance. Kniwing thats all part of what our civilization is build on. I hope you and your family are having a good weekend!
Farming must pay better with you than over in England nice kit you have over there credit to you our small farms have to make do and mend old kit, your government must think more of you farmers than ours, all the best 👍
Yeah he's got some newer tractors and machines but I don't think they'd cost anything like the modern tech ones. I see a smart farmer here, new enough machines to work but still cheap, the buildings seem basic or old fashioned which would also be cheaper. Being smart with your money is the way to farming
Yeah, there are a lot of small farms in Slovenia which work some tough land, so we get some help from goverment and EU but I would think its simmilar in all European countries because of the low sell prices. 🤔 As Kieran said, you gotta be smart with expenses on small farms. I would imagine though, that UK farmers are held on the line as well 🙄
@@cumbriafarmer6258 yeah its the same here. On our farm I'm the only one full time working on a farm, my dad also had a second job when he was a farm manager. There are many farmers that have to have a second job to keep their farms running... 🙄
Wow, great video! Some of your duties are quite labour intensive. You must sleep well at night after moving the hay from the back of the loft to the front of the feed area. I'm pleased you had some help with the milking, otherwise you would have had to keep leaving your jobs to change the cups over
Hey that is the same mixer we have, tho ours is a lot, a lot more beat up, and isn't nearly as new. I actuly made a wirelses remore for ours that allowed you to move around while you were taking in silage, that was a nice edition. And we also do out bunks the same as you gras on the bottom at corn on the top, it relly helps with mold and saves on time.

Sell the diet feeder, buy and install feeding bowls/troughs for the milking parlour in front of where the cow stands to be milked and feed concentrates there and then just silage in the cow shed. It Seems to be very labour intensive but fair play to you. :)
nice movie but i have a few questions. Why do you make silage in such a system? How do you know how much of a given ingredient is in this pile? Why do you give the cows dry hay after milking? Sorry for my english but i used the translator. Greetings from Poland 😀
Thanks 🙂 It works best for us that way. We first cut one slice of just corn silage and weight it and then the same slice of just grass silage and weight it. Then, with percentage, we estimate the amount of individual type of silage 😉 We give them that hay on top so they stay a little longer at the feeding area. It was also advised by a nutritionist 😉 Your english is okay, greetings from Slovenia 😀
