    As a beginner (been studying for a month), I understood 70% in the 3rd dialogue only and heard familiar phrases and words in other dialogues. I think this exercise were meant for beginners who are getting near in the intermediate level.
    I recommend people who are studying korean to listen to this audio frequently. Watch korean contents (if you can) everyday to enhance comprehending skills. 가자 여러분!

    I'm a beginner and this video is great! You guys that think it's too hard need to stop limiting yourself. Btw, It's ok not to understand at first. watch and listen over and over again, looking up words you don't know, until you do understand. Do that and this will be great for learning even for beginners! If you could get it relatively easily the first time you watch there would be no reason to watch it.

    As a frame of reference: I have been studying for four months quite intensively, level 7-8 in TTMIK, lesson 55 of Howtostudykorean and listening is my weakest area - i can understand like 40-50% of this but I can't piece them all together most of the time until I see the korean captions. This is nowhere near beginner level at all, this is intermediate to upper intermediate for most of us normal folk. Of course it does take years to become better at a new language so don't feel discouraged, keep learning grammar, vocabulary, try to build sentences. Slow and steady wins the race!

    • @baum-jd6zj
      @baum-jd6zj 3 роки тому

      What?? Do you mean that you reached level 7-8 in TTMIK in 4 month? Or did I get anything wrong? Did you know 한글 before?

    • @zzoa.
      @zzoa. 3 роки тому +2

      @@baum-jd6zj I studied between 6 and 8 hours per day for about 2 to 3 months so that strengthened my grammar, for vocabulary I use the Anki app to do daily vocabulary with example sentences and conjugations, right now I have around 2,500 words. I didn't know 한글, I learned it the first week by writing pages full of small sentences and words.

      @@zzoa. Wow amazing, thats actually impressive.. what is your mother touge? I used memrise for vocabulary since memrise has audio files too and I think that improved my pronouciation a lot. At what point are you now? Did you already made a test about which level (1-6 I think) you are?

    Seeing the results of me neglecting listening comprehension for all these months is quite frustrating. For some of the later dialogues of this video, I could understand the general topic of the convos (for example, someone is borrowing dvds) but I couldn't understand every word. Then, when the subs came on, I understood every word. I will listen to this video every day! I'm studying intermediate grammar nowadays, I need to focus on listening comprehension more, or the gap between listening and reading skills will only grow.
    I know this video is 5 years old 그래도 감사합니다! I really like the format of these :)

      @@wooshi2915 if this is too hard, you're not listening enough. The vocabulary and grammar is all beginner. Either you overestimated your level, or you underestimate the importance of hundreds of hours of listening practice while learning korean.

      @@ClowdyHowdy no this is intermediate level, literally everyone in the comment section agrees to that.

    • @ClowdyHowdy
      @ClowdyHowdy 4 роки тому

      @@samihaaraisa that's because too many people base their ability on which level they are on in simplistic learning materials which are designed to make a learner feel like they are better than they are. If you expose yourself to real korean language, this is almost as basic as if gets. Even beyond that, this is all made from the most common grammar, and words that are all in the top 500 most common words. Not only that these actors are reading painfully slow. Someone who barely understands this is still a beginner

    • @samihaaraisa
      @samihaaraisa 4 роки тому +1

      @@ClowdyHowdy but Yk the title says beginner and beginner kind of means that you want to know how to introduce your self and very simple stuff and say "that is this" etc. This was way too hard for a beginner, but just right for elementary learners like me. So It's for people who have some experience learning the language (1-2 months) and not like the first beginner video they'll watch if they think one day "oh I'll learn korean from today". Anyways, good resource with comprehensible input :)

    Something to note as I watch so far... "문 옆에 있는 책장 위에" was paired with the incorrect English sentence, it may confuse some viewers. I think if the English sentence order was the same as the Korean it would still make sense, so I'm not sure why it was paired that way. Otherwise, this is very informative and helpful 👍

    This is beginner level conversations but a lot of you guys aren't understanding anything because you are restricting yourself. Being a beginner isn' t just knowing how to read and understand basic phrases. When you are a beginner, you understand the basics and can understand a decent amount of the conversations. You also have a vocabulary, which means you know a variety of words.

    At 10:32 the woman had asked where the nearest bus stop was and then the guy proceeded to tell her the bus stop directions that was far away. When there was a bus stop near them. That's the only thing i found confusing. It might have been to make the learners confuse a little bit and make the audio longer, I guess. 😐
    But aside from that, the video was great. I will have to listen to it a lot of times and check the dictionary a lot too I'm sure to get used to it.

    At 18:27 why is it"............알았어요"? Shouldn't the sentence end with" 것 같아요"?
    I'm just confused here because in the English translation it's "I thought".
    And it just sounds a bit weird to me to use 알았어요 here. I might be wrong, of course. Can someone explain it to me?

    • @mypseudosucks
      @mypseudosucks 4 роки тому +1

      On its own the verb 알다 indeed means ''to know'' but in this sentence ''줄'' is placed in front of it. Verb+은 줄 알다 is used when the person speaking was sure about something but realized that he was wrong, in this situation the man thought that the restaurant was already closed because it's late but he realized that it's not the case. Hope I was helpful :)

    It would be better if the English translations were more accurate. For example, at 14.55 예정입니다 means "expected" or "scheduled" but nowhere in the translation does this word appear. The translation should be " It is scheduled that I will be there for 3 days."

      I'm confused with "joh-ah" & "joh-ah-yo". What does the "yo" really mean?? not talking about being formal, but the more accurate meaning if you put "yo" at the end. Also how would you translate in English with "yo" at the end.
