No subs: I understood some words and vaguely picked up the topics as the conversation went on. The general meaning of questions were surprisingly easy to undestand. Longer sentences were the most difficult because I couldn't keep up with the speed at all :D With Kor. subs: Still couldn't make out a lot of it but recognized more words that I didn't pick up at the first listen. With a decent bit of grammar knowledge at least the structure of the sentences were clear most of the time and I could puzzle the meaning together for myself more easily. Kor. and Eng. subs: Of course it was all understandable then but comparing it with the translation I put together in my head I realized I'm still missing a lot. Vocabulary is always topic-dependant so I wasn't too bothered by that but sentence patterns are important to know so I wrote that down. Hopefully next time I can recognize more (there is definitely more coming, right? ;) )
Read the description for more info on this new format and let me know what you think! Part 1 (no subs) is at 1:00 Part 2 (Korean subs only) is at 3:24 Part 3 (Korean + English subs) is at 5:46 I promise I'll have better quality conversations next time! Thanks for watching. :)
After rewatching the parts with eng subs, I realised I understand 50% of the words used. So my vocabulary is still weak. I understood the sentences structure because I did a lot of writing exercises. Still, I haven’t done listening practice before so this is a good start. I now know I’m weak at listening. If I continuously do this I think I can converse naturally soon!
This is a really great video idea please do more of them. This is really helpful for learning natural conversation instead of taking everything straight from a book and ultimately sounding strange to natives.Thank you !
This is one of the best things I have found so far in my Korean studies! I was able to understand almost everything the first time through, but was confused when I heard 고구마 haha I forgot sweet potato lattes existed. Anyways, this is super helpful for Korean listening practice because it is more realistic than both dramas or textbook audios! Thank you so much! I am looking forward to listening to all of your Real Life Korean Listening series! I hope you keep doing this :D
다행이에요 ㅠㅠ I speak fluent korean , but havent really been practicing over the pandemic...that's a while. I came here a little terrified to make sure I wasnt back to the basics but lo and behold I could understand almost all the conversation. Maybe I'm rusty but I feel so much better
Omg I’m so so happy. I missed so few words in the middle, but I understood pretty much everything even before Korean subs... best practice I had in a long time. Thank you so much for making this video! It makes me proud of myself and motivates me A LOT. Guess I’m going to get back to my Korean studies :) time to make this happen right? Topik here we go
This was helpful. I understood about 10%. With Korean subtitles I understood about 30%. Even with the English/Korean subtitles I only understood about 75% becuase it was hard trying to read, listen, and translate at the same time. But, I will watch it again. I like this method. Very natural.
Korean is very hard. There is no way around it. But keep listening to conversations. It will adjust your ears to the language better. Thanks so much for doing this video. It helped so much. Learners depend too much on subtitles and reading because its easier and comfortable. But listening and speaking is where the real task begins.

I was just looking at videos because I felt like I was in a bit of a slump, stuck between being too comfortable for beginner but not quite comfortable enough for intermediate. However, this video felt SO self gratifying. I'm not too hard on myself about the long sentences that kind of sent me for a loop because I didn't really expect to get them 100% but I was ridiculously surprised how much I was able to decipher before the video progressed to English subtitles. If I had to rate the grasp I had throughout this video, I'd give myself 80% - the other 20% accounting for vocabulary I didn't recognize and the aforementioned longer sentences whose grammar caught me slipping. I understood the context and the progression of the conversation almost completely and I feel so proud of myself right now
I understood roughly 40% of what you guys were talking about without english subtitles. Which makes me feel great because I know that i understood the grammar, just not all the vocabulary used lol
I get a hard time understanding the conversation without subs altho I get the flow of the conversation but it takes time for me to grasp the its context. Hangul subs helped me a lot and I'm super relieved since I'm already able to understand the whole convo and when Eng subs popped out, I was able to confirm that my understanding prior to that was right :) This is super helpful! Thanks a lot.
I'm trying to focus on the subtitles and learn, but I am too busy focusing on her wholesomeness! THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS, I CAN KIND OF UNDERSTAND!!! I have been learning 한국 and now I am moving onto grammar and sentence forming. I am going to watch more content like this to my learning. XD
I feel so proud for understanding 90% with the korean sub only 🥺 the thing is, I usually understand most casual conversations but it’s hard for me to form a sentence on my own 😥
I just started studying Korean a week ago, and I don't understand 99% of the conversation. Right now I'm working on my reading. I will back again to this video several months later, and let's see if I can understand a little bit more. For now, I'll just put this in comment section to mark my starting point in Korean learning
Surprisingly I can understand the basic conversation but i can und more w korean subtitles n confirms the meaning w the eng subs :) This is such a helpful practice good job !
I got to understand about 70% of the conversation! The longer sentences I couldn't catch up and I do have some gaps in my vocabulary but overall I'm glad I could understand the overall context and the flow on the conversation. Now I know where my weak spots are! Thank you for making these videos!
I'm really happy that i found a channel recording real conversation. Thank you. Please make sure next time to record without noise in the background so that we can catch all the conversation and pronunciation ❤️ We appreciate your efforts
Fair to say that years ago I wouldnot have understood nothing lol. I shouldnt even be excited cause I am a Korean department graduate but I thought I forgot about Korean lol. I understood everything. For those of you leading, going out of your comfort zone is the best thing you can do while learning. Please don't make my mistakes where I didn't challenge myself, also, slow continues progress is your best friend. Don't go studying hours then stop days. Tell yourself I am gonna do this just for 10 mins and watch the magic over time. I am proud of those using their time to learn anything new. Thank you so much for your content I will gladly watch more of those to refresh my Korean .
your video is a much better way to learn compared to learning from textbooks... btw my Korean teacher only says the word I understand. I found that I understand 99% conversation with her but understand 1% conversation with other Korean teachers... the conversation is constructed in a way too kind to me which I lack the real conversation. Thank you 선생님!
more videos like this please🥺🥰 even everywhere you go like supermarket, cinema, malls, restaurant, parks and even at work these actual conversation will help us a lot to practice our listening and speaking skills thank you very much❤🥰~
Omg!! I just found your channel today and I wish I had last year when I first started learning Korean!! I love this video, format and the concept. This is nothing short of amazing!!
I couldn’t understand everything but the first time I kinda knew what you were talking about, with the subtitles I understood a bit more and with the English subtitles I was amazed how much I can actually understand, just by context ☺️ gonna write down some words I didn’t know before! Thank you, this is an interesting way of learning!
Ya'll need to learn new language like a baby : They listen and try to mimic the voice while understanding and asking for the particular thing . This really works for me I hav learnt English hindi Arabic tamil and now korean by listening and trying to mimic their sounds and ofcourse having conversation daily with someone who is learning the same language or a native person.
The first time I listened to this was a month ago and I couldn’t understand a single word but now I understand around 20% of it so that’s good of a process

This conversation is really helpful especially with the Korean & English subtitles at the end. Strangely, I can identify the Korean words much easily with the English subtitle hahaha
The pride I felt at recognizing 커피, which I just learned today, and 고구마. And I also learned that you can just say 아니 (with friends, I'm guessing?). I'm almost fluent! XD
Very nice video....very helpful with the subtitle and English....i must say whatever you were having, espresso or latte or Earl Grey or a combination of these must have tasted incredible...and you have a cute dimple 😊
Thanks for the subtitles at the end! I was able to see what I understood and what I translated completely wrong. I thought you were asking if coffee is good for your complexion because I kept hearing 얼굴
Thank you so much, it's making me understand better some things, also the intonations... but there are also some structures that made my brain goes BOOM! hahahaha but I'm getting better, even though I almost understood nothing on the first one without subtitles :( on the second one I got some phrases and words... I loved it, you're helping me a lot!
