Thanks for the informative video. It's much easier watching you step by step than looking through the Haynes manual. I had a heck of time removing the seal. Mine did not come off very easy. I damaged a small part of the lip that you warned about. A little epoxy should fix it.

Nice job! This also applies to 2000-2002 SL1 cars. The outer door skin panel tabs might break too. Very annoying.

Rich just bought my wife a 02 L200 and the removal on those is very similar as well.

@MrRaiders6769 Yes in your case if there is nothing left to repair replacing the panel seems like the only way out.
@MrRaiders6769 Very common for the little mounting ears to break if i recall i repaired them with sheet metal and rivets.
Is it the panel at the rear of the door.

I did not know they had a outer door panel do you mean inner door panel.
thank you even though this is not the kind of car i have. it gave me some hope. is there any way you can help me with a honda accord 98..the same problem! i've searched every where and came up with nothing.

@ugweewus I have not removed a 2000 but i think 96-02 are the same.
On the 2003 Saturn Ion door. The outside key hole. The plastic that attaches to the rod on the key cylinder broke. So, I read on other computer sites, this is the way to get to the key cylinder, is to take off the outside panel as you did. Do you know if you have worked on a problem like this. I was going to use J B Weld fast setting metal glue on the plastic. I know J B Weld hold a mirror that was broken to pieces on a Saturn SL outside mirror housing. It is still holding 10 yr. now.
I was looking at this video to see if it may help me remove a power window motor on the drivers door. I removed the inner panel but the motor won't budge after loosening it's three slot bolts....Do you have a video about that somewhere??
What works best to re-attach the weatherproofing plastic behind both the inner and outer door panels? I have seen plenty of different spray adhesives at Autozone, but I am afraid the plastic will rip if or when I have to remove the plastic again in the future.
They can be tricky sometimes.
Hey Rich, do you have an idea on how to do this on a 2000 ford windstar the right rear sliding door if you could do this on a minivan.

This is great! The only problem is, I can't open my back door, and since you decided to skip the step in your inner door panel removal vid on how to fix a lock from the inside, this doesn't help.😞
Also, my Saturn is a 2002, which has a slightly different panel with tabs at the top. I don't know how to get the door out of the rear tab because the window/door frame interfere with pulling it up and out.
I do have a videos on the removing the front outer door panel.
is it that much different for a 2000 sl2?

@dulcelake I do think J B Weld is not a good fix for this job i would go to the junk yard and get one for free.

I just bought a '98 S series yesterday (my second Saturn, other a '99 SW1) and one of the back doors will not open from the inside nor the outside. Any suggestions on how to tackle this problem?
All i can suggest is penetrating oil and time.

The panel that you removed on the rear door, is that also held on by two t-15 torx screws on a 98 SC2? And what is that pillar called?
No because the 98 SC is a two door model and has no rear doors.
