Jalopin' Javelin Introduction! | Not Rod Ep. 18
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- In this episode we pick up a new car! A 1969 AMC Javelin which is such a piece crap we've named it the Jalopin'. Not only that but you, the audience bought this garbage in what is now a self-perpetuating cycle of automotive lunacy. In this video we spend way too much time trying to get the piece of junk Ford 390 FE running that's been sitting in this car's engine bay for years.

Awesome to see you guys back again. I’ve missed this channel
Really here for the Nova. Wish you the best with the AMC, but and update on other project status would be nice. Its been a while. Glad you are back.
Glad to see u guys back on the old you tube
good to see you back I actually like the longer episodes
Ryan and Brandon...just wanted to let you guys know you run a great channel here..I started watching your Nova project and then on to the Studebaker......Great content...now cant wait to see your progress with the Javelin......you have a new subscriber...
I got a big smile on my face when you got it running. The satisfaction you get when you struggle but finally get something running is priceless. BTW I really enjoy episodes at the dragstrip and being able to see you make progress with each pass. Thanks for the effort you put into your videos.
Great episode, and even better explanation.
Glad to see you're going back to AMC power!!! Can't wait to see the progression!!!
Excited to watch some new episodes! Thanks for the content!
Welcome back boys, we’ve missed you keep it up your gaining members
I was so glad to see you guys we’re back. I missed your videos
Welcome back!! Great to see new videos again. Looking forward to the new season.
The resistor makes sense. I had a 64 chevy and when I changed from points to HEI, I had to run a 12v wire to replace the resistor circuit to get it to run right.
You should build the crappiest little cobbled together T bucket for that ford .
I have about 'pretty' much the same issue with my 360. Can't get it to start properly. I'll have a check at electronics too. Glad you are back! :)
Your tenacity pays off! Looking forward to what comes of the green hunk of junk :)
Junk?? Mike Finnegan would refer to it as "a fine automobile" 😄😄
Thats interesting on the ballast. Starter, not so much anymore. Glad you’re back guys.
Nice to see you guys are back, been waiting for a new episode! The first gen Javelin is a nice car, hope you can get it back on the road. Looking forward to the next episode!
Btw. in the beginning of the episode, the Nova was sitting outside, I wonder what's under the tarp in the garage... 🙂
Excited to see this. My dad had an old javelin when I was a kid.
glad to see you guys back whit a new project
2 days ago I was searching to see if you guys have posted anything and I was still subscribed and now a new post! Great to see it good job and we all know that a FE Ford is like a Vette engine... Lots of Corvettes sitting around without engines back in the day.
When it finally popped off, I let out a hell yeah! Looking forward to this project, and also an update on the Nova :D
Dude! You're practically in my back yard. Crazy. I just picked up a crusty 73 nova. Great content!
No your theory makes sense, I have seen the same issue with mopars when their ballast units go bad, also with Chevys when people remove the resisted wire in the stock harness.
You guys are grassroots and badass. You’ll get subscribers galor and be going places soon
Hello From Tacoma!
THIS SUCKS!! Ive been waiting for you guys to post more videos for a few years now and it looks like youtube didnt notify me... Keep it up you guys!
Can't wait to see a new upload. Love the content
Check into getting vehicle registered in Vermont then registration can be used to title in Washington. I have used this process and it works.
Good to know, thanks!
Man that AMC is rough..... LOL Still a good save. WHY would someone put a FE in an AMC? BIG engine for that engine bay.
There's suppose to be a one-way retainer clip that keeps the oil pump drive rod from exiting the pump and block. Unfortunately the drive rod sometimes gets seized in the distributor and thus when prying the distributor out, as some do, it breaks the retainer clip. Then whole thing, rod and all, comes out. (just like on SBFs and BBFs too) Those FEs are hard to kill, takes a lot. Drove one back from Long Beach to Vancouver with 10psi and rod slapping away.... and still made it! Put a crank kit in it, and it's still going today.
Yours sounds pretty damn good for having been full of water and partially seized! I think your pretty much right on track of why it wouldn't start. They do gotta crank faster then the 1st starter was allowing, and of course the points issue. Points nowadays are not at all like the more quality ones of yesteryear. Might be another reason why you experienced spark jump...? Started quite a few without a ballast resistor, so i dunno. But prolonged use will cause damage, just as you said. Great Video Fellas! So where's the FE going since you have an AMC engine on the way??
Great video!
Fords want 9v at the coil sometimes the resister regulates the voltage similar to a Mopar.
Morton Thiakol had a conference call regarding the Challenger booster seal before the launch and basically pressured the contractor to OK the launch, Has a committee called you guys yet?
Nice car 😊
AMC, was a big underdog back in the day, considering that they used the big three's leftovers for their powertrains.
Javelins, and Kremlins were definitely different from the others, and they had another car that was definitely a sleeper, because it was more of a sudan for commuters.
Unless you happen to have a amc hornet sc with it's 360, and starsky and hutch torino stripe down the side, not forgetting the scoop glued to the hood.
Glad to see you biys survived the cheap beer virus, and those bleary winters that stretch out for most of the year up in the NW corner of the country.
Nothing like stuffing a wide block in a body with shock towers, but not quite as bad as a old mustang or cougar I'm betting.
Haven't seen you guys in a while, what's up with the Studi?
Almost pulls wheelies. New episode coming soon.
@@NotRodShop f - ing Cool, will enjoy seeing that.
Good theory
my favorite scene 24:38
Check the coil with a multimeter, then you’ll know for sure if it’s good
Missed you guys. Sell the FE motor to someone building a cobra replica for $3500 and laugh 😂
The Javelin is probably AMC's best looking car. Find a 360 for it. Is that an original big bad green car?
The ‘69 Javelin is definitely one of the best looking cars from the muscle car era. And he says that it is an original big bad green car at the beginning of the video.
Def your electrical issue
how did you two meet?
where'd you guys disappear to?
Why did you not put an electric fuel pump to the carb???
Without a cooling system filling the carb bowls up helps prevent the temptation to keep running the motor. And if that's not good enough of an explanation there's always laziness. 😁
I don’t know shit about FE motors, but isn’t there a “352” stamped in the front of the block at about 4:58 on the drivers side?
All FE's are stamped 352.
@@NotRodShop well that's just dumb. now i know. thanks!
Does it got the Vin plates and where dash at
Yall ok I'm missing your content
About 1 more week. 😁
Go to the court house n get a banned title
AMC. put a Mopar engine in it AMC V8 half terrible oil systems ,it's already got a torqeflight
If we paid for it, then can I get it :- )
Javelins aren’t the prettiest car but in multi coloured paint and primer it’s cool. Better than the ring brothers abomination.
@Jim jibroni you got me.
So when are we going to see more of this car?
So that's a good question, because I can't answer it... 😅 But... You will!
@@NotRodShop okay, I'm patient.
