    Face it…we haven’t got a clue…largely because we’re looking at a single cell on the tip of the elephant’s trunk, trying to imagine the entire animal.

      We don’t know how or if the universe started. We don’t know how or why life started. We don’t know how large the elephant is or why it’s an elephant. We don’t know what time is, or if it even exists. We don’t understand the quantum ‘world’ other than as a vaguely imagined consequence of some mathematical variables. We don’t know how many ‘dimensions’ there are, or whether there are dimensions at all, other than narrowly defined by a random life form on the third rock from the sun in a distant galaxy (distant from who knows where or what) with no experience of any other galaxy. We don’t know much about dark matter or if there’s such a thing as it, or if it’s simply an non-computable variable remainder of a mathematical sequence. We don’t know if mathematics explains the universe or is a consequence of the universe. We don’t know what reality is, even though every one of us apparently experiences one. We have no idea about consciousness other than a few untestable suppositions posited by ‘thinkers’. We don’t know if consciousness constructs the brain or the brain constructs consciousness. We don’t know if there is life beyond our tiny rock. We don’t know how many habitable ‘earths’ there are, other than guessing there must be many, given what we prioritise as a Goldilocks zone (which suits our narrow needs but fails to account for life that might (there’s another supposition) exist outside that zone. We can’t explain entanglement or the idea that something such as ‘spooky action’ might occur at faster than light speed, all the whole postulating that nothing travels faster than light. I could go on but I’m guessing you can address all the above in your own time…if you have any time at all?

      @@friedi_fx surely everything is a human construct, one that enables us to make sense of what’s around us? Surely language gives no meaning to thought. Meaning can arise only when a second speaker of the same language as code has in common two characteristics: one is the same language-as-code, making the linguistic sign potentially intelligible. The other is a similar sociocultural memory from which to draw in-formed meaning. From the linguistic point of view, bot moct looks like it’s made of similar sound-shapes to those used in English. It’s a perfectly formed string of sound-shapes in its own language-as-code…Russian. If you don’t have in common the Russian language-as-code, you are unlikely by means other than outstanding luck to make any sense of the expression. If it is translated into your language-as-code (this is a bridge) then suddenly that string of sound-shapes invokes in your sociocultural memory images full of meaning to you. It’s not the language that means anything. It’s what in your head that carries meaning.

Had the dinosaurs not died out humans would never have gotten to this stage. Species will die & others will take their place, for some strange reason there’s a lot of people on this planet that thinks we need to keep our current state stagnant, never changing.
      You see this with climate change too, from what I can see many people seem to think that our climate should never change, it should remain exactly like it is now, forever, when in reality it’s completely changed many many times over the ages, with ice ages, times of warming up, cooling down.

    I have imagined for some while that black holes will grow larger and larger as they gobble up more energy, close by stars and their solar systems, until they are so large they start merging into one, humongous black hole, leaving nothing behind. Singularity. But as the final black hole gets pulled in, it break the camel's back, causing a big bang.
    Think of water droplets on a flat surface, how they absorb smaller droplets nearby to form a bigger one, until it gets too big and the surface tension fails to hold it together.

    If the big bang was a point of minimal entropy then the arrow of time on ANY time line leads to a "future" by definition.
    Thus any alleged "before the big bang" can in reality only be an alternative future, and not the past.
    The big bang itself consequently must be the origin of all time on any alternative time lines that depart from there.

    Reminds me of this Futurama episode "The Late Philip J. Fry" S6 E7. In this episode, Fry, Professor Farnsworth, and Bender use a forward-only time machine that can only move forward in time. They overshoot their intended destination and keep going further into the future, hoping to loop back around to the past by reaching a point where the universe resets itself.
    Eventually, they witness the end of the universe and then its rebirth, allowing them to return to their original time by advancing forward again.
    Basically, if you could camp out just outside a black hole, maybe you could do this haha

    So we're returning to cyclic aka cycloidal model of the universe. Good! I never liked that big bang theory.

    • @RobertCampsall
      @RobertCampsall 18 днів тому

      A cyclical theory doesn't invalidate a Big Bang, it just means there are an endless cycle of Big Bang - inflation - expansion, rinse & repeat. The only question that arises from this idea is that we still are not sure if we will have a Big Crunch, i.e. the Universe at some point in the future reverses expansion or whether it's the Big Rip, where the Universe expands to a point where every single object is pulled apart - even atoms - by the infinitely accelerating expansion until space time "rips" causing a new space time to be "born" due to the expansion forces being so inconceivably great at that point (trillions of years into the future). At the moment, the Space-time curvature appears to be -0.8 which seems to imply a Big Crunch eventually, but we still lack enough knowledge/understanding to know.

    Nothing can commence anything as a first into nothing. Something already had to be there before the big bang happened as also the bang went as fast away from us as "we" move away from the centre of the big bang.

    • @RobertCampsall
      @RobertCampsall 18 днів тому

      And your comment makes it clear you don't understand anything about cosmology. There is no "center". No matter where you are in the Universe, if you are looking out at our "equivalent time", i.e. approximately 13.6 billion years after the initial inflation event, in every direction you look out you would see a visible Universe that extends in all directions out to approximately 13.6 billion light years. It's a consequence of the fact that it's not a case of objects moving apart from each other into an empty expanse of space but that every point in space is moving apart from every other point in space - there is no "space" that things are expanding out into. It is a bit counter-intuitive.

    How can anything exist at all? How can there ever have been a time when nothing existed? How can everything that now exists ever cease to exist? How can everthing always have existed? How can there ever have been a beginning, when things began to exist, out from an absolute lack of existence? How can something come out of nothing and how can something become nothing? We exist and can only speculate scientifically about existence. Religion is pure meaningless speculation.

      i took math. i took astronomy. The best minds are still trying to figure out how we exist. All fail. Genesis provides the answer, but the best science can do is theorize about dark matter instead of the power of an eternal god that holds the universe together, and brought it into existence. You do know that a priest came up with the "Big Bang" theory based on mathematical calculations that fail for the first few moments? That theory fits with Genesis. So, let the minds of all work together. Who knows. A child might come up with the answer.
