Fantastic and beautiful fuzzy 60's psychedelia :) The Brian Jonestown Massacre remake "Sailor" is amazing in it's own way too. Love this music! If this music doesn't touch you in some way or form, there's something wrong with you..
Listened to it once, and it all came flying through my head! Damn great tune! You DO NOT have to play a million gnat-notes in every bar to have a great tune! You just don't.. You also don't need a pedal-board so complex you need a graduate engineer to sound great. Again. YOU JUST DON"T! I remember playing this in my Junior High garage band. We were from Chicago, and just had no choice. Just a great fuckin' tune!
Showed up in my recommendation expected another basic psych song but this one holy crap. The bag pipes make the song feels like a slowed down The Who mixed with Pink Floyd
Trickydicky: Now part of my musical nautical journey from Blondie Chaplin's 'Sail on Sailor' with the Beach Boys............from a former professional sailor! BJM also do an excellent cover! Sail on Anton!
Pretty unique to hear bagpipes in psychedelic garage rock. That's far out. You're absolutely right. They were from Hinsdale, but widely known as being from Chicago.
The Rime of the Ancient Mariner', put to music....Samuel T. Coleridge.....1798......with Odysseus, of 'The Odyssey'...Dedicated to all European countries, that ruled the seas......from Ancient Greeks to British Empire....
I owned this album since the early 80's but when I first listened to it back then my 80's sensibilities (I preferred wild & raw garage stuff) couldn't get into it much (loved the 1st album though!). But I played it last year for some reason and was very impressed. It's like that old adage "When the student is ready, the teacher will appear", except with records!
'Conceive him now in a man-of-war; with his letters of mart, well armed, victualed, and appointed, and see how he acquits himself'...-----Fuller's 'Good Sea-Captain'....'White Jacket' Herman Melville 1850....
I don't get it why they had to change the name of the song? its like they were trying to let people thing they wrote that song? isn't that stealing? Anton, a thief?

One of the best psych tracks of all time bar none

Amazing sound. Anton Newcombe and his clan did this song justice, paying great homage to a great song!
