Surprise ending? Love it!
Logan I have two Burke machines, great for a home hobbiest. I have a number 4 horizontal mill with a vertical attachment. And a powermatic version of the knee mill you are describing. Powermatic only made that machine for a few years. It's a poor mans Bridgeport. But for me they are perfect because I took them apart and got them in my basement shop. The powermatic knee mill isn't ridiculous as far as height goes so it works. I use them to make wood working tools, like carbide insert chisels, etc. You'll dig that machine as it's not a huge investment. Now tooling is another story.
thanks
Ok, now you need to add a safety advisory to the show. I was eating a bowl of ice cream when you guys worked thru the shrinking/expanding materials bit (hint suppository)!
P.S. Rocky road/black walnut
Can anybody tell me if it’s safe to run a green log over my jointer in between bandsaw cuts as I mill a log into lumber. I’m not sure if the green wood would gum up the cutters. Thanks.
