Thanks for getting together! Ben, don't feel bad about no keybed- the keybed on half of the original Pro One's is utter rubbish. A testament to how quickly can membrane contacts die... This is a well rounded demo of how Behringer is cloning, re-imagining and creating from the ground up. The MS is a clone, with the popular FM mod built in. The P1 is re-imagining the Pro One, no keybed and extra patch points. The Crave is it's own thing- of no particular lineage, with a price point that puts it within reach of a huge audience. Good job all. Thanks again #TSR19
Just a note about the Crave...the blogs were pricing it at $200. When I ordered it from sweetwater it was $248. Not $249.99 or $250. I think this is a little odd. Are we a victim of those Tariffs by the "man in the red hat"?

If there's any argument against the existence of these knock-off synths (and yes, that's what they are; let's not beat around that bush), I really feel like it should be silenced by the fact that THEY SOUND GOOD. They make good synth noises, they're analog, they can hang. I was a Behringer hater for years myself, but these do their jobs well, so I say welcome. I've been playing with my MS-101 since January and I can tell you right now, you will have to prise it from my cold, dead hands. It's a lot of fun and I fully concur with Robin's sentiments about it being ideal from an educational perspective. I had an SH-101 on loan here for a while and I was in no way sad to give it back as the MS-101 does everything it can do, and more. Behringer are going to sell the proverbial f**kton of these :-)
I've bought the Boog Model D & Neutron already and I've already pencilled in the UB-Xa, VC340 and Odyssey. I'd discounted the Pro-1 and MS101 because I own the originals (plus an MC202). But in view of the age of the originals and their long term life span, it may well be worth considering the Deadringer replacements. If I were gigging I'd be more inclined to leave the originals at home in the studio and take the Deadringers to the gig as they'd be both cheaper and easier to replace should any mishaps occur. Finally, at £199 for the Crave it would be rude not to buy it.
Or you could sell your original Pro-1 now and use the funds to buy a bunch of the new Behringer synths. Just a thought! But I do think it's cool to have the original.
All synth reviews should have 3 experts like this who all have something else to bring to the table. And I really appreciated the comparison of 3 synths that on paper give you the idea they might sound quite similar. About the whole Behringer controversy... As long as Roland refuses to make a 101, I don't see why Behringer couldn't do it. I don't think it's very ethical that they used to make cheap FX pedals and other equipment that mimicked the aesthetic of a different brand in an attempt to confuse customers. And I do wonder if the prices they set are realistic for small companies. When they say this Crave will be 149 euro's do they force companies to set a very low profit margin? Sure Thomann and Bax (biggest stores in the EU) can set 25% profit margins and be fine, but a lot of small local stores have gone under in recent years because they can't compete with those stores' prices. But that's just me thinking out loud, I don't know the margins on the Crave. And on the other hand... I just bought a Neutron this month. Just because I can't afford an SV-1 or a Mother 32. They do make music making quite accessible to the masses. And I'll probably buy a Crave or Odyssey at some point.
@@LukezyM It's awesome. Bang for the buck wise it can't be beat. It sounds mássive and if you add some drive it sounds so warm and rich it's amazing. And with the patch bay there are hundreds of interesting options to explore sound. The Delay is slightly dirty, but not too much. It makes it sound a little old school, but not too bad. It does add Noise when you turn up the Mix knob. I think it will be hard to fit it in to a mix as it sounds so huge, but some EQ should do. The Tone knob in the Drive section should also help. Some things to note though, the Sync is not Hard Sync but Soft Sync. Hard to explain the difference, I rarely see Soft Sync on synths and is quite interesting, but makes less extreme sounds then hard Sync. I would have prefered hard Sync maybe. Luckily my other synth does that. It also doesn't do Ring Mod like some other affordable synths. The Filter is amazing, with some Resonance you can create some beautiful harmonics. Honestly.... at some point yo the highest level, aren't all these mono synths capable of the same things? Only difference is the box they come in and how you achieve the sound. Is my thinking wrong?
Yes, your thinking is wrong. We asked the exact same question in the video and were able to talk about how different they sound. And then you've got the physicality and the workflow and what inspires you. But there must be a reason why you're looking at synth videos right? If you've decided they are all the same then perhaps it's time for new hobby :)
@@MoltenMusicTech nothing to get offended over. I have several synths already and that's why I said at a certain point they can pretty much do the same things. I'd like a version of the 101 that has a metal case rather than the traditional plastic with higher quality caps. It's just so plastic looking. I never liked that about the original. Then add an FX section or maybe some CV jacks... no pistol grip to save on costs and because of the added weight.
guys, BehrinGHer like GHerkin and please not BehrinJer like Jelly!!!! Anyway, nice to see the three of you together! Bit with all the Behringer clone range, you could easily have invited Gaz, Claudio-DrMix, Synthmania-Paolo and LookMumNoComputer-Sam too :-)🤘
I find this whole Roland /Behringer clone war very odd. How does Behringer get away with this?? How are they not sued into the stone age?... or is there a deal worked out behind the scenes? 🤷♂️
This sounds sh*t... Haha! Obviously joking. I love the Pro1/MS101, but for me the star is the Crave. The price point/sound is incredible. Alas, I'm bankrupt from my modular habit. Great video guys (and maybe girls in the background).
Got the model D, which sounds great, got the KARP mini, so I don't need Behringers ARP, got the SH01A, so I don't need the MS101, got the JU-06, so I don't need the Deepmind, I can't see the significance of the Crave (besides being as cheap as toilet paper). The only one I will be going for is the Pro-1. Sounds ultra deep and über fat. It'll be my next baby.
sad to say but the pro one remake sounds absolutely terrible as soon as you open the filter or route stronger modulations. and this is the main thing that made the proone so flexible and unique. only for proone snappy basses u can use many other monosynths with fast envs. sad, but im working for too long already with mine to hear this.
The ending comments gave me pause. If something sounds overly simple for what it claims to be and, worse, the designs and packaging and nomenclature are lifted from going concerns (with an arguable exception here or there) and there is a trail of bad stories from employees of a company, why should anyone feel conflicted about dismissing out of hand products from this company? The company has traded for decades on benefiting from the hard work of other people and sold their products at low prices (which anyone should admit is the primary appeal of this stuff) on the backs of their own people - and their lack of expenditure on developing their own designs. I see no problem with simply opting out, and I have no worries that anyone is done a disservice by encouraging others to avoid them on these kinds of grounds.
I see no problem with that either. My point is that in terms of building a product I believe Behringer has done a good job and so shouldn’t be dismissed out of hand as somehow crap - whereas dismissing them for well thought out reasons like you’ve done here is completely valid.
Nice, great line up, synths are good as well.

Play'em damnit - arppeggios with random knob twitling gets me down
Awww don’t feel bad, I’ll play them another time if I have them
“Audio rate human interface” 😂
I'd like a version of the 101 that has a metal case rather than the traditional plastic with higher quality caps. It's just so plastic looking. I never liked that about the original. Then add an FX section or maybe some CV jacks... no pistol grip to save on costs and because of the added weight.
guys, BehrinGHer like GHerkin and please not BehrinJer like Jelly!!!! Anyway, nice to see the three of you together! Bit with all the Behringer clone range, you could easily have invited Gaz, Claudio-DrMix, Synthmania-Paolo and LookMumNoComputer-Sam too :-)🤘
good looking synths, and guys..
No keyboard version of Pro-1 is a BIG mistake.
isn't that confusing. the one actually should have!
putting random sequence is NOT where pro-1 excels, just sayin
I love them so badly but hoping Behringer will make some of those instruments having preset memory too :P
Behringer cloned the prophet!?!?!
YYYYYEEEESSSSSSSS!!!
Behringer giving us the synth spice cabinet!
I find this whole Roland /Behringer clone war very odd. How does Behringer get away with this?? How are they not sued into the stone age?... or is there a deal worked out behind the scenes? 🤷♂️
Probably be best to contact Rolands legal team because its likely they really fucked up in the past ;)
look at the moog clone roland do its by analog solutions...but sold by roland and moog havent sued them either
Many Moog patents have expired and have not been claimed , so it’s fair game.
joe Briscoe Patents are expired.

This sounds sh*t... Haha! Obviously joking. I love the Pro1/MS101, but for me the star is the Crave. The price point/sound is incredible. Alas, I'm bankrupt from my modular habit. Great video guys (and maybe girls in the background).
LOL - the crave is $200 - less than a modular filter.
Phranque Peasant Ju-06 and the Deepmind are quite different babys. I have both and like the Ju-06 better even it‘s a lot simpler
@@verstaerker Might be. But you agree then that I don't need the Deep mind. It looks like a nice cockpit though.
@@phranquepeasant5688 well it still makes a pretty good Midikeykeyboard
My god so much talking. Where’s the playing?
We're talking about synths - that's what we do :)
sad to say but the pro one remake sounds absolutely terrible as soon as you open the filter or route stronger modulations. and this is the main thing that made the proone so flexible and unique. only for proone snappy basses u can use many other monosynths with fast envs. sad, but im working for too long already with mine to hear this.
DivKid has recently uploaded a larger sound demo on his website - maybe that'll let you hear it a bit better. Thanks for the comparison though.
I didn’t like the crave. I imagine I’m gonna love the MS1. I get mine in the mail Friday.
can you tell me why you didnt like the crave? and beer are you "slenterend"?
#unavailable
Man I know I crave something...
Nice vibe but bad demos.
Oh cheers!
I contest that. Excellent demo and amazing vibes thank you for posting and making the effort to keep us informed!
too much blablabla, sorry...

I'm purchasing
Seriously, you talked 90 % of this video...
Yes, it was a chat about these three synths
What a waste of time. Btw, the Crave looks like some recent Moog.
Feels forced. And no I'm not trolling.
Ffs less talking more playing! And by playing I mean actual musical pieces not bleep bloop fart noises.
Ah ok ok, right away sir!.... i think perhaps you might have missed the context and point of this video :)
