I think the bridges at epitoc… (what ever that city name is) is super good to (better?). There’s like 5 bridges there. All good chokes… won many battles 1v4 with the use of a party consisting of mostly fians, and then some infantry and cav to help clog the bridge though. The coastal cliff chokes are good but doesn’t offer all that great of angels for archers. You really got to have better skilled fighting infantry(shock troops) to hold off mass enemy infantry in those chokes. In this video, the ratio is pretty even

I use the follow me command a lot when navigating the cavalry. You can have them follow you and run back and forth through their archer line and then charge aswell. But directly after the charge I have them follow me again to group them up for another charge
Yes, unfortunately melee cav needs a lot of babysitting to be useful. Follow and move command are the only thing preventing them from getting stuck inside enemy formations and being slaughtered by peasants and recruits. There should be different commands for "charge and engage" (like infantry AI), "charge through" (like cav AI) and "charge through and regroup" (like real life heavy cav).
@@iamdanieloliveira game I used to play kingdon under fire you could shift-queue commands and with cavalry you could attack-move to a point after the archer group and then shift-queue the same command to a point on the other side so the cavalry ends up moving either side and charging through the group like they should.

Your channel has become one of my favorites I've come across in years. How you play BL really shows how much replay value this game has. Keep up the great work.
Little trick I've found (might not still work, been awhile since I've played I know they've changed some AI), have 2-3 companions with long slashing polearms following you, glaives work well and rhompaia, and then run through the horse archers slashing away. Doesn't really matter how much you hit, if there are 3 of you attacking their horses in melee, they will almost always try to skirmish away. You can keep 50+ horse archers from your front line for a solid 30 seconds or so with just a charge with a few companions. Gotta make sure they are well armored, of course. It works really well to push them from one flank or another back towards their own wings while you chop horses out from under them.
What I like to do is to give the cav shield wall command, so they form up tighter and then have them follow me as I ride through their archer line from their flank. We usually take out a quarter to a third of them with each pass. The trample damage alone adds up with the third pass and it completely disrupts their shooting, which is a great relief for the Infantry. I have well protected heavy knights on good horses with me though, so this might not work so well with bandit troops.

I tell my calvary to follow me. After I set orders for the rest of my army, my calvary follows me to the enemy flank or archers. Then I move in and give them the charge command. Once they collide and rout the enemy, I tell them to follow again and they peel off the enemy. It's devastating.

Sweet, thank you! Yeah it's a lot of fun, especially once you start adding mods to make it more realistic :) The biggest difference between this and TW is that each unit is individually controlled by AI. So each unit has it's own physics, will react differently to what's going on, etc. In TW, groups are 200+ units, but as far as the game goes, it's just one "thing".

Stats are jacked but the Scaled Warlord Armor is really weak so it maintains Battanian "glass canon" vibes. Wanted to give them longbows, but didn't see any way to make mounted troops use longbows (requires a perk)

Always used cavalry as a mean to slow and disperse enemies. So my shield wall+crossbow combo could deal with more like a stream, a torrent of enemies rather than a wave.
Cav gets tunnel visioned into a melee fight if you leave them alone it's so annoying but if you constantly tell them to hit and run using 'advance' and 'follow me' you can take on an army 3 times your size at least. A great start I've found is to let the infantry chase you to the point where their ranks start to break due to different movement speeds, that way you can catch out the stragglers who are out of formation. The archers are also often not ready to fight back while charging so you can run through them with horse charge damage for free.
I've learned to divide my cavalry and infantry. Infantry shield wall to 1) stop enemy cavalry and 2) protect archers. Right before their Cavalry crashes into my line I loose mine from the flank. The goal is to slow their momentum and create a safe zone behind the Infantry for the archers to whittle down horses. This technique shatters Infantry heavy (enemy) formations too P.s. @@AFKSINCE4EVER You can rotate the formation to face whatever way you want, and horse archers especially will do that on their own when they're stationary.
Horse archers are better on the right because they can’t shoot on their right very well. Archers on foot go on the left, horse archers on the right to flank and shoot on the move. That’s my set up and my horse archers get 50+ kills per skirmish.
@@interabits Archers on foot are better on the left. Horse archers are better on the right because they can’t shoot on their right side. I've only watched two of your videos but I noticed you place your archers on your enemies left side which is obviously silly since all units hold their shield on their left as far as I know. You can massively improve your efficiency by repositioning. Also if you want to mess with archers run your cavalry in a narrow formation along their line not through it.
I'm doing a custom troop run using RBM is there a certain armor wt threshold to not overcome like a Dark Souls Fat roll threshold and also RBM as u know has a mechanic for shields to hang on your non dominant arm so for my archers should I let them carry a backup melee weapon to stop themselves from getting fucked by melee troops or let them carry a pavise shield to hang on their non dominant arm so they dont get counter sniped as easily
Tfw you're in the final round of a tournament, against a noble. Hack n slash quickly turns into a chamber block battle...ending in a single head strike, ending the tournament. Win or lose, it's fuckin amazing gameplay.
Can you do a video on Alexander the Great tactics that would be awesome. Or maybe a Alexander play through with the companion Calvary ❤ that would be awesome to watch
I recently made a video covering the False Gap tactic that Alexander the Great used! ua-cam.com/video/HhjUfxFBlK0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=StratGaming I'm currently looking for a mod list for the next campaign, will definitely keep this in mind :)
I remember fighting on this map, as I was organising myself I was astonished to see that the AI enemy actually took the choke point and held there and didn’t move despite any of my provocations. So I just had to attack them. I don’t know whether that was the initiative of the AI itself, or a developer coded that if given the chance they’d take the choke point, either way it was amazing.
I will only imagine that I helped in this revelation. Not that this wasn’t something that you couldn’t have simply figured out on your own. But I do remember you liking my comment on a previous video where I mentioned this😎
the ai love to do this thing where the archers will always move away from the infantry while the infantry is set on charging through everything i always have my cav chasing those archers with me cause of that lol
Name of mod to rename followers? I have few 'promoted' soldiers to companions with really simmilar names, gets a bit confusing and annoying to check skill trees to see who is who :D
Idk why, but i think the moment i learn how to use cav is the moment where bannerlord or fanbase create realistic musket and boom, welcome to modern times!
Yup! It adds a realistic weight to each one so the drop is more realistic. It also changes the physics of the flight path to be more realistic, so it's more parabolic and not as flat.
Not sure if I understand the question correctly, but throwers as in Javelin or throwing axe troops I assume? They do a ton of damage in a short amount of time. Often times they won't do much damage, but they will remove a lot of shields, making the enemy much more vulnerable.
Would there be any way you'd occasionally go over all of the perks that were broken in each tree again and see if they're still broken? I can't tell if quickdraw under throwing works now, for instance.
What % of your army should consist of calvary in this game? I tried being cav dominant when I first started, but i feel like I'm just better off going only infantry / archers / horse archers
Not very much typically, unless you specifically want to play with a lot of cavalry. Individual results may vary, but I like to go something like this 50% Infantry 30% Archer 20% Mixed Cav and Archer Cav It also depends alot on the type of tactics you use, different plays are better with different armies. Another strong general build is to go really archer heavy, with another big chunk of infantry, and a very small cavalry force. For something like that, you’re relying on your archers to deal out the death and your infantry is really only there to stop the enemy from getting to your archers, and you use your small cavalry force to lead the enemy’s cavalry away from your main force, and harass the enemy’s archer line to stop them from firing
@@snaile2876 I enjoy playing Battania alot so I usually am Fian dominant. Their infantry is so mediocre though, I like to recruit sturgians & legionaries. Horse Archers are op but they don't really flow w my army unless it's like 60% horse archers lol. I think I've been around 30-40% Cav, so I'm going to adjust now, ty!
It was for the campaign - those are all bandit/companion only and the main character is Amir Timur, who was known for having hordes of horse archers. It's more for the roleplay and not for a strategic reason. Good observation by the way! It's much harder to win battles without a good set of foot archers
@@Strat-Guides Oh that makes a lot of sense, what a cool way to play the game too haha. I was going to say, I feel like my Fians are my most productive units, so was curious if there was a secret sauce I was missing! Appreciate the response, keep up the awesome content!
Yo Strat I know this is super random but have you ever encountered a bug that says: “object reference not set to instance of an object”? I’ve been trying to mod my Bannerlord recently and even after downloading patches from the Nexus, it still corrupts my save games after a certain time.
@@Strat-Guides Yeah it’s been really aggravating. I’m pretty sure it’s related to Distinguished Service or Banner Kings. All it does is cause an endless loop of the game freezing and having a crash exception, but it happens ALL THE TIME, nonstop, endlessly.
@@dharmeshmistry342 I ran into that with my previous campaign using banner kings. I wasn't able to go near certain parts of the map or it would crash with no way around it
Is it me or has the AI become worse? I took a few months break from bannerlord and start a new campaign in 1.10 and the armies are extremely defensive and won’t move to attack, they’ll just stay in one place to be annihilated by arrows. I’m a mercenary so I can’t command the infantry yet but if you leave it to the AI they just won’t do anything
best way to kill archers is to stomp them with cav, have them follow u and go up and down their lines, they will be mowed down like grass after a third pass
It's the RTS Camera mod! There's a function in that mod that slows down time, but I change the speed the other way so I can speed the game up for those boring, grindy parts.
@@Strat-Guides ah ok, was confused cause I knew there was a slow mo key but didn't notice a speed up one. Did you just go into the mod files and change the speed then?
I have this one strat where I use the archers in the back and Sword troops infront of them as a shield with Lots of horse archers and lots of cavalry. Use barely lose any troops and it can take on armies with 200 more troops than you
@@Strat-Guides oh dang, there's such perk? Didn't know that lol. I'm using the Noble Bow with Bodkin Arrows too, but only deal 40-80 dmg, with no such perk. Maybe that's why. Thanks man!

Sorry that's friendly troops - if you're far enough away from the enemy formations and holding left alt, it will show the center of their formation, distance from you and how many troops in that formation
Near the end, vs the Archer lines....you should've charged them lengthwise with your cavalry. AT FULL SPEED . ( 20-30 dm each charge strike easily ) I'm surprised you didn't. With each horse doin that, it would only take a few passes to bust them up.
What im glad about is how I don't have to win every tournament now that update was really a game changer on xbox now day 39 Or so already up to 60k think by 150k ill start to take land.
Strategic fighting in this game is mostly just relying on the game's dumb AI. But this is pretty cool, I didn't know this map had that chokepoint. Gotta use it next time.
Yeah I know what you mean. This map in particular is funny - if can get the enemy cav to charge you, you can move at the last second near the cliffs and they will go charging off the cliff to their death rofl I did it in this video: ua-cam.com/video/cBq9S-5mexg/v-deo.html&ab_channel=StratGaming
After so long in Early access I would have liked to have seen the game come on a bit more - the basis is there for a legendary game, instead of the pretty good one it is at the moment. I don't want to have to rely on Mods to make it decent. If they actually release DLC map expansions, new factions, boats, more varied and interesting missions and adopted some of the mods into the game it would epic.

Horse archers are better on the right because they can’t shoot on their right very well. Archers on foot go on the left, horse archers on the right to flank and shoot on the move. That’s my set up and my horse archers get 50+ kills per skirmish.
@@interabits
Archers on foot are better on the left. Horse archers are better on the right because they can’t shoot on their right side. If Strat had to roll them out to flank, they would have been useless on the left side. Horse archers shoot right to left very well, they can’t shoot left to right well at all, though.
Great video! What mods are you using here?
Thanks! I've got the full mod list (in proper order + links) in the description of this video: ua-cam.com/video/W94-_JU4_l0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=StratGaming
HOw do you feel about Khuzait Khan's Guard spam? I like to get a party of around 300 of them then press f6 in a battle and call it a day.
It's very effective, but get's boring real fast :(
I use that spot quite alot on that map - 300 style
Damn, that's a disgusting choke-point.
Yeah!! This was sick battle. On of my favorite ever in Bannelord… the pure strategy!!
remind me of the Comanches 15 ft spear and bow combo
Great question and I'm not really sure! I've got a ton of hours on RBM but feel like there is still so much to learn
Great video, Strat! Lol, "Nice block" at 3:28. I find myself saying that to the enemy all the time. Gotta give the AI/devs their credit!
Tfw you're in the final round of a tournament, against a noble. Hack n slash quickly turns into a chamber block battle...ending in a single head strike, ending the tournament. Win or lose, it's fuckin amazing gameplay.
Lol it's just not that common to see the AI perform well so when it happens, it stands out :)
Which mod gives you the unit icons (ie. infantry, horses, etc.)?
I will only imagine that I helped in this revelation. Not that this wasn’t something that you couldn’t have simply figured out on your own. But I do remember you liking my comment on a previous video where I mentioned this😎
Yeah I do read most all the comments and take notes :)
I'm wondering if you would do strategy in bannerlord?
Yup!
nice video, and how did you get a 50 arrows sack?
I always lead cavalry / horse archers around the back or flanks of the enemy, hit charge, and everything dies
the ai love to do this thing where the archers will always move away from the infantry while the infantry is set on charging through everything i always have my cav chasing those archers with me cause of that lol
Try Khalid bin Walid's tactic, it's amazing against infantry and can even grant you a 3 to 1.
Name of mod to rename followers? I have few 'promoted' soldiers to companions with really simmilar names, gets a bit confusing and annoying to check skill trees to see who is who :D
Character reloader! It's a life saver for sure
Idk why, but i think the moment i learn how to use cav is the moment where bannerlord or fanbase create realistic musket and boom, welcome to modern times!
Do RBM mod changes the way arrows are spent?
Yup! It adds a realistic weight to each one so the drop is more realistic. It also changes the physics of the flight path to be more realistic, so it's more parabolic and not as flat.
This was a nice battle. I can recomand others to go and watch this capaign 😉
It wasn't the most difficult, but it's pretty fun seeing real life tactics used in a game!
What bow do you use?
I love your videos
What would be your thought process if you were to play with "throwers" in your army ? What strategical opportunity do they offer ?
Not sure if I understand the question correctly, but throwers as in Javelin or throwing axe troops I assume? They do a ton of damage in a short amount of time. Often times they won't do much damage, but they will remove a lot of shields, making the enemy much more vulnerable.

Would there be any way you'd occasionally go over all of the perks that were broken in each tree again and see if they're still broken? I can't tell if quickdraw under throwing works now, for instance.
I know how to defend but the problem is that my offensive is always trash
What % of your army should consist of calvary in this game? I tried being cav dominant when I first started, but i feel like I'm just better off going only infantry / archers / horse archers
Not very much typically, unless you specifically want to play with a lot of cavalry.
Individual results may vary, but I like to go something like this
50% Infantry
30% Archer
20% Mixed Cav and Archer Cav
It also depends alot on the type of tactics you use, different plays are better with different armies.
I think you can make it work with pretty much any army composition, but personally I tend to go heavy foot troops with maybe 10 - 20% mounted at most.
how did you get your spear? cuz i never seen one so long and imma need it lmao
Do you run full vanilla? Or what mods do you use?
Hey Strat, is there a reason you use basically zero archers outside of horse archers?
No I haven't seen that one before. Oh wow, it's ruining your save files?! That's brutal
What mod did you use to speed up in-game battles like that?
It's the RTS Camera mod! There's a function in that mod that slows down time, but I change the speed the other way so I can speed the game up for those boring, grindy parts.
@@Strat-Guides ah ok, was confused cause I knew there was a slow mo key but didn't notice a speed up one. Did you just go into the mod files and change the speed then?
I have this one strat where I use the archers in the back and Sword troops infront of them as a shield with Lots of horse archers and lots of cavalry. Use barely lose any troops and it can take on armies with 200 more troops than you
yo what bow and arrow you use? killed the horses in one shots with 100+ damage
It's a 90 lb recurve warbow with 110 gram bodkin arrows (also have the perk that does +40% damage to mounts from bow skill)
@@Strat-Guides oh dang, there's such perk? Didn't know that lol. I'm using the Noble Bow with Bodkin Arrows too, but only deal 40-80 dmg, with no such perk. Maybe that's why.
Thanks man!
That spear is hilariously long
was that a bug, cheat or mod to level up the companions so much and so fast?
Ain’t no wy the most tactically genius man on earth didn’t know how to use cavalry… what does that mean for me?
I have a lot to learn when it comes to using cavalry effectively : (
1:41 how to use the south western map choke points
Also, those battles where you chase down enemy cavalry because their infantry buckled like cardboard... made real easy with a Glaive
That's a long ass Lance lol
Stole it from a dead Vlandian Noble :)
Oh, boy, this lance. I want some shish kebab now.
Lol yeah with that mod list, they go up to 350+
what's your modlist?
I've got the full mod list in the description of this video: ua-cam.com/video/W94-_JU4_l0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=StratGaming
Main ones are RBM and De Re Militari
Why I feel bad for killing horses more than Killing people?
It's true. I hate the sound they make when they get killed too, it makes me sad
What mod shows the icon above enemy troops?
That's actually a setting in the base game! You can turn them off or use the sliding scale to make them more or less opaque
Sorry that's friendly troops - if you're far enough away from the enemy formations and holding left alt, it will show the center of their formation, distance from you and how many troops in that formation
@@Strat-Guides Thanks!
Near the end, vs the Archer lines....you should've charged them lengthwise with your cavalry. AT FULL SPEED . ( 20-30 dm each charge strike easily )
I'm surprised you didn't.
With each horse doin that, it would only take a few passes to bust them up.
I really hate when I'm forced to go left as a horse archer.
Have you played medieval 2 total war?
Yeah I've played about 5 or 6 of the TW games! They are so much fun
Is this unmodded gameplay? It seems like the melee lasted a long time.
What im glad about is how I don't have to win every tournament now that update was really a game changer on xbox now day 39
Or so already up to 60k think by 150k ill start to take land.
It’s a shame you can’t build in battle. I would’ve asked if you could do the tactics used in Alesia
That would be really cool! Imagine a ballista on a small hill??
Nice lance, bro
Thank you! I got it from a dead Vlandian if I recall lol
@@Strat-Guides surely a custom job.
“Room Temperature Challenge”
Strat is an Active Self Protection viewer?? 👀👀
Yes! Haha I've been watching that dude since he was at like 100k subs :)
Love the video ❤
That Lance it's so long.
nice strat but wrong flank for the archers, you're shooting their shielded arm
After so long in Early access I would have liked to have seen the game come on a bit more - the basis is there for a legendary game, instead of the pretty good one it is at the moment.
I don't want to have to rely on Mods to make it decent.
If they actually release DLC map expansions, new factions, boats, more varied and interesting missions and adopted some of the mods into the game it would epic.
