I spied me a Full Throttle Race Parts sticker. I was in college at Nashville Auto Diesel school back in 1999 and the school had a NASCAR late model team I worked on and they opened their own race parts store and that's how Full Throttle Race Parts was born. Daniel Denson, Jerry Hargrove, Thomas Hooper, Christopher Robarge all those guys had a hand in making that happen. Good memories.
Jamie definitely does always do outstanding! Phenomenal! Work! Superior fabrication with excellent detail I always enjoy seeing his work posted! And definitely deserves all the praise he gets! Keep up the good work and hopefully one day I can afford one of your mini stock chassis!
@@DIRTRACELIFE For sure there has been times we have called him really late and he has picked up the phone and helped us out, also he pointed us in the right direction and has helped us get our racecars fast
Yeah that aftermarket metric frame it's pretty nice the tracks up here in Michigan most of them are ump sanctioned the tracks I run would never let you run that chassis. But yeah Mr Lewis looks like he does some awesome it's getting harder to find a guy that does Fab work up here in Michigan but it was awesome video buddy can't wait to see you start on your new chassis but you have a good one buddy looking forward to your next video
I was very impressed with what he is doing. I know eventually all rear wheel classes will allow fabricated frames but I am not ready personally to make that move either because many of the tracks I like to race at won't allow them as well.
15 years ago I sold out all my dirt racing stuff.I had 17 metric frames that went to the scrapyard because I couldn't find a builder that wanted them.Having to scrap them hurt me at the time knowing that eventually they'd all be gone.
Yes GM made a LOT of those frames. Down here in Australia ,one of the biggest selling cars was the Holen HQ .The Pick Up/utility versions had the full chassis which is identical to the US versions, There were thousands of them built.
I am just not happy with the car. I think I could do better. It was my first build jumping back into coil cars and I learned a lot and there are some things it taught me I want to use but there are some things I need to change. And here's the other thing. I know the big chevelle has a great front end that is more forgiving on setup but that cannot start to make up for the longer lower rear trailing arm. I have come to the conclusion that the longer arms on the rear are always going to put me into a smaller set up window and that's not good.
His work is always good great social media too. Some of the best I’ve seen besides the stuff flowing out of CRS but they don’t do many stock metric cars. But as far as the metric chassis, When Bernheisel came out with their chassis it was an extremely let down. It was just tubing with accurate mounting geometry. The design was extremely primitive and most of us wanted to see better engineering to replicate the front clip more accurately. Then rush and crate USA worked with them and approved it. Most thought wow any one of us could have built this as it’s beyond simplistic. Sanctions fought tooth and nail to prevent tubes Chassis for decades. Yes clips and frames are getting more difficult to find and costly(that’s a 100% fact) but straight tubed clips? That’s lame if we’re stead fast on stock geometry. There was zero engendering involved in the design. Just straight jigging. I can make a more realistic clip in Fusion360 in less then 2 hours and anyone with a cheap plasma table and press brake can build it. But no, we essentially built an late 80’s late model frame. My problem is that not everyone seeks to be able to apply for certification because anyone can build these Chassis. There’s some political stuff going on behind the seens. We get all our chevelle clips from China after a few people bankrolled the dies the same thing was needed for the metric clip so we could also have them for modifieds because you CAN build a better mod with a metric clip. Then the street stock guys would have also had clips on only had tubing back to tail. This was a horrible half assed solution but then agin I’ve think the stock clip should have been dropped decades ago across the board but with it the stupid geometry. We either dump the stock BS and allow people to build full frames or stay with the traditional clips. But we certainly don’t allow a few MFG’ers to control the Market.
I knew some had tried the 9.5 on the LF and then an 8" on the RF but I think the ones making it work now are doing an 11" on the LF and a 9.5 on the RF.
@@DIRTRACELIFE have done the 11” quite a bit on a modified. A couple months ago tried a 11” 325 in the RF of a stock car. The guy liked it was consistent and lap times improved. With a better shock I feel it can be better.
Very similar to some square tube stuff from the late 80's and early 90's. Of course those late models didn't have the suspension mounts anything like these.
Definitely at a point with the top level stock car racing on dirt where it's just about left the stock stage other than some blueprint measurement requirements.

Jamie, does just fabulous work. The guy has talent for real.
Jamie is the man! Awesome quality chassis
Definitely!
That dude seems cool! I really like the look of his chassis.
Yes, he has a gift for getting that "Looks fast even sitting still" look
Nice shop! Super clean.
Oh Yeah, Jamie has his act together :)
So Rad! Beautiful shop!😍
Jamie has it going on for sure 😉
Great video.Thanks for sharing.

I appreciate this video I've always heard nothing but good things about Mr Jamie Lewis
Really neat to get some inside on how one of the best does it.
Impressive, thank you
Yes Sir, Very Impressive
Awesome I look forward to your build
We are too, planning now
I hope you are going to do another build series with your new car. I
enjoyed watching your first videos. Lots of good information.
yes, the plan is to get started next week on the metric. I have to order roll cage tubing!
Super talented builder
for sure
Great video Jason
Thank you Jay

GM was very smart about how they did mass production back then. all one platform.
awesome setup
I was very impressed as well
Hi there, Your orange crush race car you built out of the big dog Chevelle frame. Why go to the small metric frame something different? Thanks George

I would very much like to see someone get the dies for metrics and start making them as well.
As far as shorter or softer in the RF goes . You can use a Renton spring and it will last a long long time!
I knew some had tried the 9.5 on the LF and then an 8" on the RF but I think the ones making it work now are doing an 11" on the LF and a 9.5 on the RF.

Man has built some fast camaros before also.
He had one outside the shop he was getting ready to bring in next and update ;)

What brake pedal setup is that??
I'm not sure but it sure looks different. Maybe Jamie will see this question and enlighten us ;)
The master cylinders on that look like a wilwood compact reservoir and master cylinder setup day Motorsports Carry's them
Lauderdale County? I’m from Lauderdale county Meridian Ms
