Best video I found for doing the drum brakes on my 4wd 92 Suburban K1500… Many others claimed to show a 92 Subufban - but it was a different configuration…. The drum and brake pads I bought from Rock Auto were correct for my vehicle - but the “complete” spring kit did not have all the correct springs…. I ended up going to a NAPA store and buying a spring kit for YOUR model blazer and it had exactly what I needed…
I highly recommend acquiring a bright small flashlight to stick in your mouth to help get those two pins lined up correctly within the springs holding each brake pad in place… THAT was the most difficult part of the entire brake job.
Hey - I’ll listen to your “chatter” - as you certainly have created a great tear down video (1) and the rebuild video (2). My compliments…
Haha the other day I changed my windshield wiper motor and today I did a brake job both with a little help from your videos. Thanks for posting.
That's great. Glad the videos helped. Thanks for watching.
I always enjoy watching your videos. I have an 89 K5 my kids will start driving next year so I'm in the same boat as you
Good luck with your K5 and Thanks for watching.
I was waiting you change the brake cylinders .. great job. Thank you so much...♥️🙏👍👽
Glad to help
@@AxlesGarage thanks .. beautiful truck
Thanks for the video
You bet
Thanks.. I enjoy your video and learn alot for my K5
Glad to hear it! More K5 videos coming soon.
Hello,
Does this apply to a 91 K5 Blazer, too? I did the same exact procedure, and i had my oem drums turned at oreillys, and now the drums won't fit back on. Do i need new drums? I released any pressure on the brake cylinder.
Ive never experienced a drum that came off that easy on a Chevy truck :P
Thanks for watching
Great video
Glad we could help. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the full explanation.
Glad my long winded-ness could help. Thanks for watching.
What about if your parking brake is stuck? How do you determine that and how do you fix it? My 84 k30will not move when you put it in gear without gasing it pretty hard.
You'll have to take it apart and see if it's the parking brake, wheel cylinder or just stuck shoes against the drums
@@AxlesGarage mine is one of those cucv military trucks. Will it be the same?
What kind of lube did you put on those 6 spots that the shoes rub against? (18:03)
Just regular white lithium grease. Works perfects and lasts. Thanks for watching.
👍
I am surpriced you didnt replace the break cylinder as well, seeing that all was taken apart and you were replacing pretty much everything. The cylinder is cheap and they leak after a while, so its always good to replace it too. Besides that, nicely made video...step by step, great job! thanks
Yes, in hindsight I should have done the wheel cylinders. Thanks for watching.
Start at 5:45, avoid the chatter
Good detail on the video though, thanks. I like your idea of using the white lithium grease. I would like to minimize the use of anti-seize too. Gets on everything, including gloves
We do chatter here
Thanks for watching
