  • In this tutorial you will see, step by step, how I packed a large piece of furniture for shipping, using a pallet.
    You will also see how I attached two pallets together to get to the size I needed for this large buffet.
    This buffet I sold on Etsy was taken from Northern VA to Phoenix, AZ and it got to its destination intact!

    Thank you so much for taking the time to do this! This will be my first furniture shipment and I am going through Freight Buddy too. I have heard great things about them.

    Thanks a bunch for this! I have furniture to sell that Ive had for years because I’ve been so intimidated about shipping. I didn’t realize freight shipping was an option!

    Thanks so much! May I ask what freight company you used and how you found them? Do they pick up at your home? Nice job

      I used Freight Buddy. They were excellent. Helped me every step of the way. They did pick it up at my home.

    Great video! You send this freight? weren't you afraid of getting it damaged without crating it? Do you always ship like that?

      I was a little tense, but all went well.
      No, I don’t usually need pallets. Most of the time I just pack it safely and a shipping provider or mover will deliver it.

    How much do you add to shipping costs to cover your time and materials. You do such a fantastic job, it almost makes me shy away from offering shipping. Besides, I don't have the extra help. Looks like the extra hands are important.

      Thanks Christine! this was a high profit sale so I decided not to charge for shipping supplies. I will do it next time. In this case I would have charged around $50.

    Hi there, Pat! Do you still use Freight Buddy and do you use them for everything nationwide? Thank you!

    • @TheWoodSpabyPatRios
      @TheWoodSpabyPatRios  3 роки тому

      No, Victoria. I go to UShip.com and list the piece I want to ship. Companies will send me their prices and I choose one based on their reviews.

    Did it arrive undamaged, I'm wanting to try this from UK to new York, I've tried boxing up before and it got damaged slightly. Did they put anything on too of the sideboard during freight?

    • @TheWoodSpabyPatRios
      @TheWoodSpabyPatRios  4 роки тому

      I did arrive just fine. In your case I’d have it crated because it’s going overseas. A totally different situation, and much longer and bumpy journey. Good luck!

    I want to try to send a soffa from UK to Cali but one size is 2,1 meters long. Can they pack on the pallet? Or do you experience to place it stand on the pallet?

      Each country has different rules. Same wit the transportation companies. The only way to know for sure is to call a few. I’m sorry I can’t help you.

    Does uship require pallets on large pieces like this?

    • @TheWoodSpabyPatRios
      @TheWoodSpabyPatRios  3 роки тому

      Uship is just a platform where different providers offer delivery service. You post what you want to ship and companies will tell you their price. Most of them don’t require pallet. Always choose a provider with excellent reviews.

    Perfectly ✅, can you please share with us which freight company you work with ? And what is there price? Thank you so much 😊

    • @TheWoodSpabyPatRios
      @TheWoodSpabyPatRios  6 років тому +1

      Thanks! I use different shipping companies depending on itinerary. I get quotes from Uship.com website and for small pieces, I use UPS.
      This particular piece was shipped with Freight Buddy.

    Hi! I was wondering what delivery service do you use for such heavy items and how do you weigh them?

    • @TheWoodSpabyPatRios
      @TheWoodSpabyPatRios  3 роки тому

      I use UShip.com so each shipping is done with a different provider. I only work with those who have excellent reviews.

  • @rebadel961
    @rebadel961 5 років тому

    How do you estimate your shipping cost for customers without weighing so you don’t overcharge?

    • @TheWoodSpabyPatRios
      @TheWoodSpabyPatRios  5 років тому +3

      I’m learning that for shipping companies precise dimensions are more important than precise weight. So a rough estimate is enough. A good freight company can give an estimated weight based on dimensions and you can round it up a bit.

    I hope you charge them a good penny because that looks like a lot of work and that doesn’t even include refinishing the Buffet

    Can i ask how much you charged for shipping supplies etc.vs cost to you. Thanks

    • @TheWoodSpabyPatRios
      @TheWoodSpabyPatRios  6 років тому

      Donna, Shipping cost was $407. Client paid me that amount and I paid the freight company exactly that. I didn't charge for packing supplies but that would have been an additional $50 approximately.

    Where did you get your supplies??

    • @TheWoodSpabyPatRios

      Karen, I bought most of them at U-HAUL but also at Home Depot. I found U-Haul prices better.
