Every chaotic person needs a partner that’s particular and methodical. You’re very lucky to have Jason. His efforts will make your garden look professional.
I soooo look forward to your video every day. I’m living vicariously through you. Lol. Can’t wait to see the finished garden but I’m so enjoying the progress. Great job!!
Mee too 😂
She’s the first you tuber I put on in the morning, I feel like something is missing on weekends!please tell your husband his hard work measuring paid off, the frames look perfect
Same here!
Me too. 🌺🌺🌺
That’s exactly how I feel
Oh my goodness the ending was priceless! Jason out there in the dark, still working on those garden beds and your laughter when he said he was done is so cute! I really like your videos because you are real and down to earth (no pun intended) There are so many UA-cam garden people who are in fancy clothes with perfect hair and nails and that is not gardening. I can just imagine once you get your puppy that it will happily run through the raised garden with your daughters. Sending lots of joy to you :)
Don’t you just hate it when plants jump into your cart? That’s my story too and I’m sticking to it. Jason is a good man to make sure everything is perfect
Well done Jason , what a great team! ❤
Go Jason!! As it is said "Any job worth doing is worth doing well¨. Interesting irrigation info today.
G O...TEAM JASON....he reminds me of my Hubby. I was blessed with twenty-two good years. He's gonna on to glory, now😢.
@@As-I-Am1960 🤗🥺
About the zig zag planter. Because your house is so long and straight I think once you get it planted it will add a lot of character to a long and straight house. I also think once you add your touch it will become a very nice focal point ! 🌺💚🙃
Yes, hubby is right, it will be beautiful with correct measurements perfectly spaced and centered with the greenhouse. He is a keeper! Thank you for the toothpick label idea!
Some people don’t have all of the “ right “ equipment to start seeds, so you showing them how to when you don’t have all of the “ right “ equipment is also a valuable lesson . Many times throughout my years of gardening I’ve had to come up with solutions to not having exactly what I needed to get growing. So you thinking that this might not be the correct way to do things, is very helpful to some indeed . 🌺💚🙃
Hi Janey, learned from You today to pre moisten soil, drop the tray so soil settles and use toothpicks to label cells. Thank you! 🌸❤️🇨🇦
Jason is my kinda guy, I like picky…in the end it’s in the details. It’s nice that you have a good partner.
It's becoming a garden...love the straight lines..out of plumb would have drove me crazy. Nice choice of fall plants...
Jason at the end🥰🥰🥰what a sweetheart! You’re a lucky lady Janey! And he’s lucky, too❤️💐
I feel as though this seed sowing you did today is a how to when you have minimal stuff and can't afford to buy all the items which would make sowing seeds easier. Thanks soo much for sharing.
Gardening doesn’t have to be complicated. Simple.
I agree, I garden on the cheap most of the time. It allows a splurge when I see a perfect piece of terra cotta.
Agreed! Use what you have and spend the savings on more plants...!!!
What a blessing to have Jason!!! It’ll look so much better in the end and won’t drive those of us who care about straight lines crazy when we watch!!
Everything is looking great Janey and your content is so much fun to watch, I look forward to it everyday.
Janey I think you should always let Jason do the projects that need to have perfect measurements..
However i Love that you are flexible.. you guys make an awesome team.❤
You are making amazing progress of everything very fast...
I would still be unpacking 😂.
Looking forward to watch all the projects and the inspiration you give us!!!❤
Awwwh Jason is a good man.
Your zigzag is going to look fabulous with those colors of plants together.
Awww....how sweet of Jason to straighten out all the beds for you. You too make a great couple. Many blessings!! 💗
My partner in ALL the things 💗💗
You’re a good teacher! The explanations and step-by-step were very helpful.
And again, seeing ALL of this from the move in -the good, the bad and the ugly (not that there has been any of that) is such fun! Thank you for being vulnerable and letting us in!
Like Jason's exactness. You will thank him later. ☺️
Jason said he will be out there till dark and he was lol 😝🌺🌻🌸
We all need a Jason in our lives!
Love watching the progress! You might want to consider using drip tape in your raised beds. Laura on GA does that often too. Just a thought. She also uses those paper seed trays so you can pop them in ground directly. Can’t wait to see how things turn out with the painting, etc. Sending hugs from Toronto 🇨🇦🫂♥️
Oh, my, Jason is a stickler for perfection!! You too are a great match!! He is determined to get it right!! Be very thankful for his efforts, as it will mean perfectly straight garden beds. You will never have to look at them and regret not taking the time to straighten them!! 😀😀😀😀
Jason is the best!! You guys are a nice balance! Everything is looking so good! So happy for you guys!!
Im with Jason. It will look beautiful all squared away pleasing to the eye. ❤ it already starting to take shape
Janey, I watch for your video everyday, I’m so excited to see your space develop . I love that you have Jason there to help with and support your dreams - he’s a good egg, you make a good team ❤
Janey, i have watched your channel grow, and I’m so impressed with your character and vision and work ethic. I’ve never left a you tube comment before this one. I’m a working mom who’s obsessed with gardening and landscaping. I just have to tell you my experience with the corrugated metal beds. Please please add some support to the sides before you fill. I have 6 of those. I love them so much in every way EXCEPT they are bowing on the sides after one year. Mine sit on a very slight incline, however, a couple are bowing on the opposite side of the incline. The thin metal supports have very little effect. If I
start over(and I think I’ll have to bc I can’t stand it), I’d use 2x4’s to stake vertically in the corners and in the middle. Even better, I’d frame the outside in wood. It looks so pretty imo.
I have heard several gardeners say the same thing, that the sides bow out from the dirt settling. They usually put a 2x4 every 3-4ft vertically on the outside and a then a cap along the top all around. Looks nice with a bottom row, too. Extra time and expense, but worth it. It is something you can even do after you have filled and planted. While you wait for seeds to grow. 😉
My husband is the same way. You’ve got a good man!
Good job Jason! If you do not have everything straight and square from the start it will always look off and be very obvious when you are done. You are a great team! You are the idea designer person and Jason is the detail person. I love watching you on this journey. It is something my husband and I would have tackled. We have been married 53 years and loved a challenge. Now I enjoy that challenge through you and Jason. Keep going!
Your husband is the greatest!!!! Nothing like support from your spouse and he does it with ❤and joy!!
I thought you’d get a wheel-barrel too! That’s a lot of compost to move and it won’t b your last load!
Coming along - oh pick up more fasteners for your beds!
The prefect gardening couple, great role models for 2 young girls. Speaking of girls, how was school, my grans go back Sept 5th...12th grade & 7th. I think once the beds are full, you won't have to worry about them blowing away. Nice you two even have fun laughing at each other.
It actually is good for us to see you “make-shift” stuff, because you are in the midst of getting settled. Many of us don’t have everything. It teaches how to handle things on a budget. Bless you and your family as you literally put your roots down in this new property. I know you need some green. It will cool things down. Too bad you couldn’t throw that pool in a moving truck!
Oh, I understand Jason perfectly...work until you can't see your hand in front of you!!! My neighbors drive by at night and get a chuckle when they see me working on the driveway strip and it's so dark the solar lights have turned on! And I applaud his love of being meticulous!
I love that you said “it’s not the right way to sow seeds”, but also realise, that when most people are starting out, they don’t have all the bells and whistles of gardening - so it might be perfect for some! 😁
And everyone needs a “Jason”!
I was surprised that you hadn't taken a sledge hammer to the end of the zig zag that covers the front door walkway until the end of the video when you mentioned Jason was much more particular than you. I laughed out loud! You guys will have fun transforming your space.😂
Thinking the same about the zig zag planters 😅
GOOD EXAMPLES OF FIELD EXPEDIENCY! Making use of what you have on hand! BRAVO!
Love your personality Janie. Look forward to your videos at your new property projects 😅
Perfect ending to the video! Hardworking Jason getting it just perfect. A husband to endear the heart of his wife. ❤ I can’t wait to see the house painted. It is going to be so pretty. especially getting the pergolas painted. Goodbye red! You are making fast progress!
This is probably the perfect video for a newbie seed starter to watch since they probably don't have all the fancy seed trays and such, either. 😊
Yes!!!! 1/2 an inch off is too much, I agree😄😄😄‼️‼️‼️I am the same way 😂😂. I love how everything is coming along. I cannot wait to see the painted house!!!!! It is going to look wonderful!!!!
Bless his heart!!!
Jason is such a sweetie! While I don’t think that I would fuss about a half an inch, his mind will be assured that he did it perfectly! 🌺💚🙃
Such a blessing to have your husband help you….. bless you both on your new adventure
Can’t wait to see it all painted!
For the garden beds you should seriously consider using drip tape instead of 1/4 inch (or in the new beds if you’ve already done these)
Drip tape has worked so much better in straight runs like the raised beds for me (South Bay 9b) much more even watering
Also on/off valves for each bed!
Agree with all your suggestions!
Janie, I don’t know if you’ve installed all of the tee’s you had made or not but you could’ve had those made with the reducer coming out on each side (cross coupler)since your beds are across from one another. It would be so much less work on you and not as many cuts in your 1” tubing. Hopefully I caught you in time!
Also I would advise putting metal clamps on wherever you have a connection. I don’t know what your water pressure is there but they blow off here if I don’t use them. I’ve learned just to do it to save myself from double work.
As an old retired Physical Therapist and now gardener, I'm laughing with you....we are definitely problem solvers and detail oriented! It will be glorious! 🌻
So enjoying all the details. I often use Saran wrap to start cups of things. With supply issues ongoing, your make-do when you can't find something is actually invaluable teaching for newbies and those starting with very limited gardening budgets. I am in the same stage with setting up some garden beds. You and Jason have slowed me down to get more precise in the set-up. The extra time will be so eye-pleasing when planted. You have such a quick eye for plant selection. That is going to be so pretty in the zig. Hope you can take a planning breather while the painter is working his magic. Prayers for strength and rest.
I think that you showed new gardeners that you don’t have to have all the fancy stuff to start seeds. That is actually great for a person who is not sure they want to spend a lot just to try seed starting for the first time. I always avoid starting seeds for years because of all the stuff people said you had to have to be successful. Thanks for the wonderful video.
Thanks Tammy! You’re the best 😘
Jason is on the job!!💪💪 Janie you know that wasnt right😂😂 he runs a tight ship !
Perfect plant combo. It’s gonna be awesome. I’m seed starting as well. My garden died a massive death this summer. Starting from scratch. We are still in a never ending heat wave. 80 plus days of oven 100 degrees and 88 or so for low temps. No rain all summer. Austin Tx. Brutal
Hello fellow Austinite 😊 hopefully we get rain soon. These triple digits have definitely been wild.
I feel like it will never stop with this oppressive heat here in Central Texas.
You guys make a great team. Thank you for showing us all the possibilities of seed starting when we can compromise. That plastic wrap on top of your seeds is also what Kaleb from Wyse Guide uses when he starts his seeds. I love watching you and Jason work together. That garden is going to look beautiful
Jason rocks!💖
I love the idea of temporary gardens like this. Because you have a big project, and you can grow a lot of plants (even perennials from seed or cuttings for other parts of your garden) in this space until it's time to do that area. Wonderful. :)
Enjoying seeing all the progress.
Excited to see the transformation of this house into a home. ❤
Bless that man! I love his care for you!
Next time carry the seed tray outside to mist it with the hose ? 🌺💚🙃
This reminds me of Laura and Aaron! 😅 also, thank you for keeping it real with the seed trays, buying plants accidentally and not filming in the warehouse! Love it! 😊
Jason is just too funny. This area is gna be so awesome planted up❤
You two work so well together, you got a lot done, a big variety on this video which I so enjoyed can’t wait till the next one. Soon place will be all painted up, in no time it’s gonna look refreshed😊
Moving is so hard.. and messy! Trying to find a place for everything when there’s not always a spot right away lol Compromising is key in these situations.
It’s not the right way but… it’s the way we’re doing it right now! 😂 I love the combo of plants you picked! Aww he was so determined to make it just right ❤
Hi Janey 🌺 well done . Every thing going well and great help from Jason . These plants will be so beautiful in the zigzag. Have awonderful day .🌻🌺🌻
I'm so glad Jason is straightening the beds. It was driving me crazy.
Every relationship needs balance! I can’t wait to see the raised beds when they’re finished!
I'm with Jason!
Every woman should have a dedicated man, and you got one. 😀 Way to go Jason! You guys work really good together. Love the seed starting and no matter what I am along for the long ride on seeing how everything will come together. "Vision"
What a wonderful hubby you have he’s a trooper ❤️❤️❤️
Real life for most of us!! ❤❤ Thank you for being bold enough to show us you and Jason’s creativity!! Love the plant combo for your zig zag bed. 🐝🐝🌻🌻
Your video is the first thing I watch while eating breakfast. I look forward to it every day. Can’t wait to see the progress of your new garden.
The view of the sunsetting in your backyard is so beautiful! 😊
Am I the only one that loves the blue colour on the office ? I would keep it as is .
I’m enjoying your videos. Your personality is amazing 🤩
I am so glad you showed how you started these seeds! This was for those gardeners just getting started that haven't purchased seed starting supplies! Thank you for sharing!
I harvested my foxglove seeds this year and I have a jar full of them from about 5 of my foxgloves.
Hi Janey. You have all of my support in this exciting new venture. I’m looking forward to watching you every day. You are doing great!
This ol lady gardener just loves your videos, and your happy, just roll with it, attitude!
I really love watching your videos. I used cardboard to start some of my beds and it worked well. I’m anticipating your green house video, I’m in the market for one.
I cant wait to get in my garden everyday in my hot and humid zone 8B 😅❤
I love being on this journey with you! Thank you! 🥰
I think there needs to be window flower box under your office window. 😍💐And I love how you can see your beautiful flowers through the office window. It’s all so exciting, Janey!😊
2 suggestions - bubble wrap makes a great covering for seedlings! It lets light through, retains moisture, and is much easier to handle than plastic wrap. Also, use pieces of wood to raise and lower your seed trays. Stack up small boards to get your trays closer to the lights. Then, take the boards out as you need to move plants farther from the lights.
In my garden, the 1” black is buried and goes to each zone and it pops up and connects to the 1/2” brown with emitters or no emitters depending on what’s needed. No idea what connectors are used but there must be 1” to 1/2”. My system is Rain Bird but I can’t verify all the connectors are. Then I can move or add to the 1/2” if I need to and connect in 1/4” in some areas. I don’t think you are going to like the 1” sitting on top of the soil getting in your way. I am enjoying you starting from scratch, Janey. It’s a process!
We looooooove Jason!!! 🧑🏼🌾💕
Everyone would be lucky to have a Jason.
Beds are looking superb at the end of the video. Thank you for showing the end result!
I’m very much like Jason, prefer everything to be accurate.
You and him are so cute together ❤
I found your channel about a month ago and love it! So look forward to your videos each day. I moved into a new property about a year ago in the Southern California mountains, zone 9a. Watching you has giving me so many ideas of what I want to do. Thank you so much for such great instructions and ideas.
Jason…what a sweetheart! Everything is coming along fabulously! So excited for your family! 💕🙌🏻🌻
Great jobs guys, way to get things done with what you have. Love watchings you two.
This was so much fun! You are a great team! I look forward to your daily adventures!
Enjoy watching you every day.
Very nice fall plants! I can't believe how much you have done since moving in...your energy level is amazing! 🌻M
Yall are awesome!!! 😂 lol LOVE Jason! Lol he is like alot of husbands.. no stopping until done right! 🎉 I am loving the progress and even the messy cause that's just how it is! Man I love your office too! ❤ so much work but so fun! 😊
He is such a good sport , You're the man, Jason..
Here's another post you can use without using any concrete. At farm stores buy t-post, don't need the tall posts. You need a T-post driver to pound in the t-posts. It has openings down side where you can use screws and drill it into your wood fence. I spray paint the posts black where I do not was them to show up green or red. T-posts are made to use with barb-wire but I use them for other things also. They also make adapters for top of posts where you can attach bird house on them also.
Your office looks darling through the window in the evening light. Accurate placing of the beds is critical, although once they are overflowing with garden plants the edges will no longer be visible. I am enjoying your journey so much.
Looking good! I'd be asking the painter to spray that fence that pretty slate color while he's there...
I make toothpick labels too. I actually use the slightly bigger chopsticks or kabob wood sticks cut them down and use label maker to print labels. But it’s close to what you did.
The last shot of your hubby adjusting the beds in the dark had me and my husband rolling. Such fun times!
As soon as I saw the night shot, I thought solar lights around the raised beds. It's coming together & I'm hear for ALL of it! How exciting!!
I found your channel a few months before you sold your home. I’m so excited to see the progress of your new property 🌸🌹🌳🌼
Hi Janey
I can’t tell you how happy I was to watch your video this morning. What made me smile? That you and Jason are using the string to straighten out your beds. I wrote this suggestion yesterday and was rewarded with Jason implementation this! So happy for you in your new garden! Your videos are my favorite! Good luck!
And the award tonight goes to Jason ! 🎉👏🌸❤️🇨🇦
That is the best time to get stuff done, when the sun is going down. My husband will come out to find me and says it's getting dark, but I always point out we have a streetlight in front of the house, so I have ampule light. It's peaceful, quiet, and you get to watch the beautiful sky as the sun sets.
Absolutely love your video's, just really getting in to watching it since yall got the new property and actually were moving in. You are so sweet and down to earth. Its so exciting to watch it all come together. Which i know it will take years. So im going to be watching your videos for years to come. ❤
