Thanks for this video. Had to change exhaust elbow on my sailboat this past weekend, and had to take off the hose connecting the elbow to the muffler. What a job! Whole body hurts after this!
After watching this I had an idea. I am replacing the 1 1/4 lines from the strainers to the engines. Very hard to access by the way. I had previously replaced the 3/4 line to the gene. It was tough to get off like you know. But cutting it lengthwise helped. Here is where my idea came in. I have a Dremel tool that I use for a lot of things. I bought a small 1 1/2 metal cutoff wheel attachment. If you go slow and are very careful not to go to deep it works great. It only took about 30 seconds and the hose really falls off of the connector. Once you cut through the stainless wire about 3 inches, lengthwise, the hose pops open and falls off. Just be very careful not to go too deep and cut the connector. I did the port yesterday, starboard today!!
Good job Tom! Here is a helpful hint for the next time you never do this... heat gun and some thermal guard gloves. Even a hair dryer will do. Heat the end of the hose when it is close to the nipple. It will expand to get on the nipple easy peasy. Just don't heat it where you need to put some near bending pressure on it or it will easily kink.

Great job! I appreciate the engine room yoga that it takes to do these jobs.
Nice work Captain! 👍
Thanks for the video. I just ordered my hoses before I saw this. I will take my heat gun and my hose pick. Keep them coming!!

Whatever makes our life easier! Another subscriber suggested I use a hose pick. I picked up a set last week.
A lot of us are missing 6” of hose. Don’t feel bad! 😂
A hose pick makes breaking the seal on the hose bib a little easier than a screwdriver does.
