I had this problem all through college. I had a 4 year gap between leaving high school and starting college. I always felt like everyone else belonged to a secret smart club and I wasn’t invited. Now forty years later, I have three engineering degrees and 5 patents. As it turns out, the people who I thought were smarter than me usually ended up coming to me for answers.
I can relate to what you said as many of the things discussed here happened to me, it got so bad that I was forced by my university to switch my major & the semester after that happened, I had less than a 1.6 GPA for that semester. But I persevered & managed to return to my mechanical engineering degree 3 years after that happened. But then my new advisor tried to dissuade me from returning. But I told him I wouldn’t let anything or anyone dissuade me since I’m over halfway done with the classes & if I did another major, I would spend another 4 years at the university because those other majors have their own prerequisites plus I wouldn’t make good money with them, not to mention all this engineering effort would’ve all been for nothing. Now, I believe I can do it as even I recognized that I for so long focused on all the failures I had without remembering all the success I had like getting a 92% on my calc 1 final in fall 2019, a 93% on my first linear algebra exam in spring 2020 right before the lockdowns, a 94% on my first calc 2 exam when I had to retake it in summer 2020, a 95% on the first physics 1 exam I took when I had to repeat it in fall 2020, or getting only As & Bs in all of my classes in fall 2022, among other many other classes & exams I had that I did great in. So yes, I know & see that it’s possible to be successful, it just requires lots of effort.

Love it!! That’s awesome
Whether you think you can or you can’t, either way, you’re right.
Exactly!
