It largely being Ireland fucking with New York rather than the other way around is probably due to the time difference, when it's 11PM in Dublin it's only 6PM in NY, but when it's 11PM in NY it's 4AM in Dublin. So if the pubs letting out has anything to do with it, the drunk New Yorkers don't have the same audience the drunk Irish (sorry for the redundancy) have.

Growing up in a household in the United States of Irish ancestry it comes as a shock to learn there are more Americans of German descent. I half thought it was lie and that most of America was Irish or black

I'm colonial stock straight from Jamestown...on one side. The other is German from Texas.
@@angelmartin7310 that is very interesting; the southern US is where you would primarily find that kind of demographic especially the original colonies. But it might surprise you to know that even in Jamestown the majority demographic is actually German, followed by English, and then Irish. I just looked that up because it's not typical that people hail from the first US colony and it's pretty interesting.

Our town is twinned with a town in the Netherlands. Back in WW2, one of the lads from our town was shot down over their town. The locals hid him and sheltered him for months. He made it back home. We go on school trips there and vice versa.
