@@GraftingAvocados Sir good morning.I'm from Philippines.I have avocado tree in my house.I harvested partially the bear fruits.sir what should I do after the avocado tree to become bloom for the next year.
Another excellent video. Recently I have had good success with traditional T budding in Autumn. I budded onto new water shoots from a decapitated seedling tree that had never set fruit. I covered the bud with plastic film and then aluminium foil to protect from desiccation. As I live in a very hot climate In Australia I also protected the new bud from direct sunlight with a tent. I also prepared the new bud by removing the wood behind the bud thus exposing all the cambium of the new bud to the sap wood on the host wood.
I just got notification that my material was delivered today. Looking forward to trying this technique on my already established Wurtz and Lila. Looking to bud veneer reed to both.
@@GraftingAvocados Looks like both bud veneers have failed. I have only two wedge grafts that are still green. I think it is asking too much to graft this far North (48° N) in the winter months.
Great info! Thanks so much for sharing your experience. I am in Southern California and have trees that have gotten too tall to easily harvest. I should be able to scaffold them down and do some grafting with the new growth. I hope.
Not Always P C: Thanks Carlos for a good video, and for showing different choices. I am an arborist, but I will send this to a family member who was asking about grafting.
Thanks you very much for info , I did a crown graft which came out well , but these bud grafts look much easier and may get a greater percentage of finish products . Thanks again , great upload .
Thank u for sharing this grafting information u are one of the best as u show post grafting information I have sucessfuly grafted about 70 avocado seedlinga all credit to u
Really nice video ! Did you do the grafting only in the Spring? Or did you just consider how developed was the bud? I live in Sicily I was wondering if you could use this type of technique from March until a warmer period which would mean until May! Is June too warm? Today for example (June the 25th) we have a temperature of 27 ° Celsius! Thank you for a reply! Anybody!
Wow love your videos you explain quite nice 👍🏼 and make it so easy. You showed the blade cutting for grafting, can you also show the two types of ‘Tapes‘ that you also use for wrapping for grafting. Thanx
Thank you, Carlos, for the useful information. After your graft was successful and the buds pushed through the tape, do you cut off the tree above the graft or you keep it in order to encourage the growth of the new branches? Thanks again.
Hello Carlos! I finally got the veneer graft down to a science... I'm at 90 percent success rate and I owe it all to your videos... thanks for the detail on preparing the bud wood. It makes a big difference. Cleft graft, and t budding have never worked for me. I am trying to get year round production on one tree. The problem that I have are the cold winters, and I was wondering when you were going to start reviewing some of the avocado varieties that you were going to follow up on. Thanks again!

The seedling trunk that I want to bud graft on to is quite brown. Is that a problem? I tried two wedge grafts in the Fall on branches up top that failed. I believe they failed because the seedling was too small to handle two wedge grafts so close together. Thanks for the video.
Hello from California! I'm just now starting my seedlings and will be planning to graft them when they are ready. I was just wondering where you get your scion wood from? Thank you
You could grow your own at the same time me and my granddaughter grew eight that thrived and I'm going to take four Haas and grafted up to the other four it should be okay
Great demonstration. I've watched several techniques and this seems to be the most efficient. Can anyone comment on a good source for the buddy tape? Thanks for sharing your knowledge!
+Bruce Alsup II think I got my Buddy tape from Amazon but any tape would do, just remember to remove the tape after 4-5 weeks to let the buds grow or wrap them with parafilm and that is just as good as the buddy tape.
Hi good morning,i m so glad to learn from you thanks for teaching, pls i want to ask you one Question ,most it be a tree that have be fruit before or a tree that have not be fruit ?
Do you mean the tree or the white paint. The white is just latex white paint. The rot stock is irrelevant as I was doing a canopy change. Hope that answers your question
very informative. Thank you One question tho. You say u need a bud wood to use for graft. Where do you get it from? is it just a piece of branch from the other avocado tree that has buds on them? Can you include that on a video that you make please. Thanks.
Thanks you very much for your videos Carlos. In this graft could you let me know which are the cambium contact points? Is it just at the base since the buds are positioned in the middle?
The guy at my nursery was telling me how there were two types of avocado trees, and that you needed both types for them to bear fruit. I was not sure he knew what he was talking about, although there was something on the label of the avocado trees as to type a or b or something. Do you have a video that explains any of this, and can you graft in the two types of trees together so that you do not have to worry about having the right types of trees. And is any of this true to begin with. For example, if I have both types of trees, but one dies, does that mean the other will stop beaing fruit?
Awesome informative video, really appreciated. Thank you! Because of my inexperience, my overwatered grafted tree died ( or so I thought). Months after I stopped watering it I realized that it was actually alive and had grown up about 10 inches from the very bottom, right from the root. Did I loose the grafting?
Thank you for all your videos and channel, I have a question regarding using flower buds for grafting, will they turn into leaf buds after growing up ?
I'm fascinated watching many grafting videos; but CAN ANYBODY tell me what is the purpose of grafting the avocado tree? Which variety is only good for rootstocks because of its root strong healthy system? Why we do graft avocado trees? Can we accelerate the fructification time by grafting avocados?- thank you!!!!
We graft to clone the tree's traits(usually the fruit's flavor. If the tree is 150 years old, our graft will be 150 year old.Root stock can be chosen for different reasons. Some are nematode resistant, some are dwarf so the tree stays smaller, some are cold hardy so the tree can be grown in a colder environment . You may want to air layer instead of graft though. Air layering has a higher success rate, and will provide fruit faster .
Which country are you in? I ask as I'm in Auckland New Zealand and would like to know the best time of year to graft. I grew some seedlings this year as I know someone who has a grafted Hass tree who said I can have some budwood from it. I was wondering if our colder months might be too cold? Thank you.
Thank you carlos for the videos. I live in algeria algiers. Our climate is vaforable for avocado trees.after 5 week when i remove the plastic sac.does the rain damage a grafting?
I have done it but I would not keep them in the refrigerator for more than 2 weeks, as times passes from day one the chances of success diminish. Personally I cut bud wood same day, but I have had bud wood given to me kept in refrigerator for a few days and worked well
