"I was in the Teutonic Knights...well I was a cook for the order, but still...I wielded a spatula against the flames of the oven." There were a lot of orders I didn't add to make a pt. 2.

I'm a knight of the Order of Avis. Up to this day my family still has the title of Viscount of Carvalhaes.
@Kade Daivis You should authentically be able to claim a title, if you’re actively searching it’s probably a sign that you don’t have one because you’re a commoner. It’s ok to be normal. Whatever you do, don’t buy a title
@Kade Daivis You can't, only in the UK.
@Kade Daivis Depends entirely on the country.
There's always the option of joining an order like Malta as a volunteer and being knighted down the line, but it takes a lot of time and work.
@Kade Daivis The title of Viscount was hereditary, but nlwadays, since Portugal is a republic, you have to do some honor. Something like, service to the country by doing some important action. In this case, I attended governmental meetings and helped to promote the portuguese royal family.

Fun fact: though there are many reasons for why Friday the 13th is considered unlucky, one reason not mentioned on Wikipedia is the betrayal and execution of the Knights Templar. Legend has it their leader cursed both the king and the pope before being beheaded, and they both died within the year.
Well it was more of a case that so called confessions of heresy and betrayal were taken from captured knights who were severely tortured. The nobility of France at the time used the order's novel system of banking to rack up a lot of debt with them. That and they saw the papacy as a political rival seeing how the pope controlled a very loyal and international military. So the nobility spread all kinds of propaganda, captured several knights, tortured them to force a confession, then backed the pope into a political corner until he formally declared the order to disband. The Knights Hospitaller absorbed any remaining assets of the templars and all debts were erased.
I feel like I've seen this in Assassin's Creed Unity
It's not that he cursed them, but that he foresaw their death.
That king was of France and I think a Louie and the Pope for believing in the lies told. That's where all the "The Order worship Satan and black magic" stuff came from. The amazing thing about the deaths was not only did they nearly happened on the day foretold, but in the manner.
The day is unlucky because he was the LAST Grandmaster and with him the Templar order disappeared and the Crusader Knights were no more.
@@davidhimmelfahrt3732unfortunately, details tend to be misinterpreted by people very easily. Makes it look like he was some kind of witch.
Legend has it that knights of the Order of Saint Lazarus would typically position themselves at the top of hills so that when their massive balls detached they would roll into the enemy.

Ottomans: “We cut off the heads of your people and set them afloat to your area”

The Order of Saint Lazarus is the most inspiring thing in history I've ever read about. While they did care for those stricken with leprosy, those who were able to take up arms did so. There is nothing more based than an order of soldiers who know they're doomed but will take up the sword anyway.

The funny thing is that medieval knights were so well trained in combat to death and hand-to-hand combat with century old european techniques (which are now lost), that they would easily beat the sht out of all the top mma fighters of today. Yes, even the roiders, as top medieval knights had better genetics than a juiced up modern men, due to the industrialization and modernity letting people live who need roids to deadlift 250kg+
And yet, these heavily armoured and armed knights regularly lost to hussite infantry-man armed with a spiky agricultural equipment.
