    It's funny how reviewers only tell you their true feelings regards a groupset once it becomes the previous groupset, all reviewers over the last 24hrs have only now told us how they really feel about Sram red axs of 2019-present.

There is no such thing as pad clearance adjustment, only free stroke adjustment on both Shimano and SRAM. Also what was the multishift speed setting on Dura Ace?

    there is no double click and long-press on auxiliary buttons like on Di2.
    the rear derailleur is more decentralized with respect to the cassette. Shimano is more nicely hidden under the cassette.

    It feels silly commenting on videos about stuff so ridiculously way out of my price range, but I wish the gap between the chainrings was bigger - 46*11 with 28mm tyres ad 90rpm is 48km/h so it's already an let's say optimistic gear to have on my bike, but I'd certainly welcome a 29ish ring at the front to have a tighter spacing between the gears at the back and still have 1:1 or thereabouts ratio.

  • @louis_sharp
    @louis_sharp 3 місяці тому

    I’m running 9270. No surprise, it’s brilliant. Ran 9170 briefly, and a thousands of km’s on 8070. Breaking is noticeably superior on the 12 speed stuff. Shifting is also much ‘improved’ - in that it’s smoother and quieter, and as someone who gets a lot out of a groupset, I do feel it shifts better under load. I’m not entirely sure if I prefer the ‘lighter’ feel of the newer Dura-Ace, as it looses a sense of physical feedback when shifting. Ultimately, I would choose any 11/12spd Di2 groupset over SRAM, as I don’t see any area where it outperforms the Shimano counterpart (yes, the claimed weight is lower, but only by a handful of grams). Campy would be my second choice, but I really dislike the WRL grouppo, aesthetically and ergonomically. Big fan of EPS, but not point in buying already outdated bike components, especially with them being electric and needing spare parts and batteries over many years. Choose whatever will make you enjoy your ride more!

    I think also we have to look at the camp you like best regardless of improvements. What I mean is, in the states picking your groupo set is like those in the Chevy or Ford camp of vehicles........doesn't matter the bad things in each, some are just loyal to a particular manufacturer. I went SRAM just over 15 years ago and through the mechanical aspect now to the AXS or wireless as we say. SRAM is more intuitive to me, and their sets are what I like best for me personally. I had nothing really wrong with Shimano and coming from them and mainly the Ultegra lineup on any new bike or build, but SRAM is king to me. That said........I have a 2022 Cannondale SuperSixEvo with SRAM Rival AXS that came built on the bike from a shop. I have to say, the Rival is quite pleasant, but I recently bought a full drivetrain upgrade to the Force D2 system (shifters/brakes, cassette 10-36, crank 172.5 in 46-33, chain, FD and RD) but keeping the Paceline rotors for now. I have yet to build that up and will wait until this fall to do so. As to Red and it going head-to-head with Dura Ace................I do simply believe it comes to the Chevy vs. Ford mentality or at least here in the states. If tomorrow I no longer had SRAM to use, I could go back to Shimano with hardly any grief but if given the option................SRAM is Legend! Great review and will be subscribing to your channel!

    Feature is one thing. Reliability (real world) is another. In where I live, Shimano has abundant support, as reliable as Toyota. They break down only if the rider has been neglecting the bike in extreme case (apart from the crankset tragedy). Subconsciously we know what’s good, but most of the time our egos want to satisfy the cool factor

One problem i see from my pals with sram is that they need to charge all the time to the point they had to ditch some rides because they forgot to charge. At this level, I doubt if anyone would place much emphasis on appearance. But at 07:11, the polished parts, especially the ring accents give the Sram all the look of a Wal mart special. Okay, that's rather extreme, and no offense to Wal mart nor Sram adherents, as appearance is very subjective. But the all black look of the Shimano sets off any bike color, especially the black-on-black color scheme. The polished parts of the Sram? It's rather complicated (visually).

    SRAM's marketing guys are ridiculous - they sell us the pulley wheels with more teeth because they reduce friction losses due to less articulation (which is true, though probably less than 1 watt) and at the same time they sell us smaller sprockets, smaller chainrings which increase the friction losses (more than what the pulley wheels are reducing) - they must believe their customers to be very dumb...

    After the unveiling of the new Sram Red AXS on the 15th I just ordered my second Dura Ace R9250! In my opinion those levers are ugly and I’m not a fan of the clunky shifting. Dura Ace is on point!

    In your review...in all aspects sram red only catched up to Dura ace and not better any aspects. And Dura ace is 3 years old already. So to be honest sram is way behind 3 years.

    Campagnolo mechanical! And between these two it'd be Dura Ace. The 13-teeth difference between chainrings on Sram cranks is silly and the cranks look like a budget angle grinder with a swastika built in, the new brake levers have the shape of toenail clippings. Yuk!

    dura ace is due to discounts so much cheaper. also sram red brings a lot of very ugly components. but the shifter hoods seem nice.
