@@dragonjim93 ~3 warcries every 10 seconds at ~0.25 - ~0.5 seconds cast time per warcry. I would not play this build as not a -cockroach- Chieftain as you'd be surprised how often you get 0-9 power and go on cooldown when in dangerous combat. I would recommend slam build with seismic cry and pulverize support. The pulverize will slow attack speed for a large aoe and 49% more damage to make up for attack speed. Lower attack speed, more damage is more efficient for limited (3-5) intimidating cry charges. There's also melee physical damage support.
me, I'm new to almost all Warcries. How many Warcry Gems is possible to effectively use in map ? Please can you explain Just how many variants there are to use multiple Warcries, and what will be the most effective way and why? I heard that you can now reserve warcries with new Support, I'm a bit scared of giving up this much reservation for that. Maybe there are other ways to effectively utilize 3 or more Warcries? I mean is it even possible to have several of Warcry buff on a character at the same time? Sorry for bothering
Without a good way to automate war cries, I don't see them being used much for their buffs. At least I don't see me hitting the buttons for war cries every few seconds. There is a reason why players skilled Call to Arms on the tree and had them on left click or used the Call to Arms gem last league. As Autoexertion removes the buffs you now only get the exterted attacks automated for melee builds and it costs mana reservation on top.
The real problem I'm having with warcries is that they added this Autoexertion reservation support, but then stripped all the buffs from anything supported by it. It's only going to be useful for exerting attacks... which means that if you want to benefit from the buffs you still have to manually use warcries, or find a way to automate them (golden apple). It seems like they want Chieftain to be the ascendancy focused on the buffs, and Berzerker the one focused on the exertions, given how they've changed the ascendancies. However, the wording on Autoexertion makes me believe that you can still manually use other warcries, so perhaps there's a world where you automate some where you don't care about the buff as much, and then manually cast or otherwise trigger others where you do want the buff. The new Overexertion support makes Autoexertion very attractive for slam builds. It's a bit strange.
I'm probably going to start Zerker and focus on exerts, using forbidden jewels to pull the infinite power if the buffs are strong enough. Potentially getting 20 exerts out of seismic just makes me a special kind of happy.
@@suthtech Here's hoping the double node from zerker is counted last, and doesn't just double the base value. The mastery for 10% chance for 3 extra exerts sounds like it'd be unreliable as hell, but getting 2 from that heist weapon, and the guaranteed +1 on the tree would still put you at 14 lol.
My most successful build yet (first to reach level 90, and SSF at that) was an Infernal Cry & Molten Shell Sabotour of all things, and I can only imagine it thriving with this update.
I watched Sirgog read the patch notes, and he was not a fan of the Warcrys at all, and neither was I. But now I see the design GGG is doing. They are way worse without investment, and should be better with investment. I think this is good because it was kinda annoying that they were good enough that every build felt like they needed to use one on Call to Arms. The design space that seems to be missing is there is no way to invest in just 1 warcry. Like you invest in all of them at once so you feel like you need to use all of them to get the most out of your points.
i can just imagine a more casual friendly life based chieftain armour stacker to be a pretty manageable build now. might look into that after league start when formless flame and replica dreamfeather become a bit more available.
What about General's Cry? From the patch notes it seemed to be dead but with the Chieftain and 2 handers, it might actually be something worthwhile looking at
That dmg penalty is just to make up for the fact that most skills you could use with it were massively buffed. It still works great with certain skills. I've been messing around with Volcanic Fissure of Snaking. It's fantastic, because it generates an eruption where they attack immediately after spawning, it snakes to the target and erupts again, then bounces off a couple other targets before potentially returning to erupt one final time (only if VFoS has 20 quality to get the extra eruption.) In other words, in an ideal scenario, each mirage (6 with 20 quality) can hit the enemy 3 times.
Hey Dream, I've spent a lot of time trying to figure out how the warcry buff effect works. Thankfully one of my viewers referred me to you and answered my question, specifically for the Ancestral Cry effect. You're right, a lot of people are underestimating the max res effect. Getting 90% max res as Chief is gonna be so easy.
You might want to make a video on banners as well. The mastery "Banners also cause Enemies to take 8% increased Damage" is worded the same way as current Bannerman's "Placed Banners also grant 30% increased Attack Damage", which, since it gets attached to the Banner, scales with aura effect. So with 80% Aura Effect from Inspirational, Rallying Icon cluster and 20% quality at 100 Valour that would be 8% * 1.8 * 10 = 144% increased damage taken in addition to the actual Banner effect. And with Perfidy you can make it permanent. Might not be crap if it really works that way?
I've been working on a boneshatter chieftain with the new ascendancy node, and let me tell you. I can't make a build for shit lmao. The warcries look insane now, definitely looking to play a carpal tunnel inducing build this league.
Alternatively for offensive auras, you could try using Herald of purity+Guardians blessing+Pride which brings up the reservation cost of HOP to 50 but still better than 25+50. And still reserve something else.
Thanks for a very helpful video! Next time can you put the names of the War Cries up on the screen when you're explaining them? I was killing mobs in PoE while listening and couldn't identify them by the icons.
should've mentioned autoexertion: Call to Arms: Has been renamed to Autoexertion. It now reserves 15% Mana per Supported Warcry to cause those Warcries to be repeatedly triggered. Autoexertion Support can now support multiple Warcries, and no longer causes Warcries to share Cooldowns. It now grants Supported Skills 0-19% increased Cooldown Recovery Rate (previously 30-11% reduced Cooldown Recovery Rate), and now has "Supported Warcries do not grant Buffs or Charges to you or Allies". It also now cannot support Retaliation Skills. Quality now grants Supported Skills 0-10% increased Cooldown Recovery Rate (previously 0-5%).
Man i am not a scientist i just want to go bonkin and i hope this league is the good one for melee, i will wait one week and look at hcssf builds and copy one of them😅
It is worth noting that in previous leagues we seen automated Warcry tech using echoes of creation, I bet you this item will be sold in divines as this can completly negate a lot of downsides warcries offer(mainly -cooldown)
In my opinion getting your resistances from the warcry IS plausible, especially if you add duration and macro it. But at the same time, you can't rely on duration too much either, because you also want the exerts for the extra damage. It's a little clunky and low QOL but does certainly have potential. I am probably going to self cast 2 warcries and auto 3. I would self cast all of them if they did not have this insane cast timer...
The buffs are crazy strong but will have low QoL if you try to mash them all into 1 build (unless you're supporting). I would most likely go with 2 of them and call it a day. If you try to do 5 warcries (even with .4 second warcries) that's 2 full seconds of warcrying, eating the duration of the other warcies in the process
You can go up to 0.25 secs of cast time by using urgent orders but it's such a pain in the ass if you are using 4 different warcries... and it's going to end up casting almost 50 mana per cry if you use them with More Duration support.
What are your thoughts on The Eternal Apple? For example, as a chieftain, you could have seismic and ancestral cries socketed there. Then you could trigger these warcries by using enduring cry, endurances charges on kill or passive endurance generation (forbidden jewels and unflinching from the juggernaut). You are giving up on blocking altogether but it might be an alternative for RF chieftain, particularly at leaguestart.
Apple is fun, might be interesting on a spell type build(or as you say, rf) since a lot of the warcry buffs are generic, but I think for slams you'd really want to be using a two hander
Good roundup on the new warcries. For me, I am probably having a hard time even with 0.4s cast time. It will always stop your character in your tracks and from my pov right now, for slam builds I can only see the chieftain hardcasting and investing into them. For every other ascendancy going into a slam build, they'll probably be autoexerted with no investment except exerted attack modifiers. There is also the issue with only battlemage's cry offering a significant damage boost (outside of armor stackers) and the other buffs being... kind of meh if you factor in the clunky cast time and usage. The max res war cry is particularly not really that good, as you should never outsource your core defenses to a button with cast time stopping your character. The life regen is also kinda meh with leech being buffed this much. The armor cry falls into clunky defense category and only becomes a dps warcry if armor stacking build. At the end of the day, we have to test all this hands on, but my biggest fear rn is the immense change of the "haptic" feel of slam builds with cast time warcries.
I like the new warcrys. But it feels a bit of a catch 22 in regards to keybindings and investment. The more you invest in warcrys the more warcrys you want. I was trying some fire slams with chieftain, so i really want the inferno buff, and well intimidating cry it's a must move speed and double damage, and enduring cry sustains endurances charges and gives me a crap ton of sustain, let's say i go resolute technique so i don't want battlemage's, well sesmic cry is and ancestral cry are a lot of defenses and AoE. So we are talking 5 warcrys here, on top of at least a movement skill, plus the slam. So we are at 7 keys. That's all the main bar skills and i'm gonna have to run molten shell with automation, i'm gonna have to run curse con hit on infernal cry because i don't see any other way to run it. I don't know, overall i like it, but it feels like they could have decreased the amount of buttons a bit. Mostly because if you invest in warcrys you want them all, and it feels like you NEED them all. Autoexertion making you lose the buffs makes it mostly a non go imo
Hmmm my ignite ice trap og hollow chieftain might have to be turned into a rallying cry overbuffing dom blow just for fun & wielding rebuke of the vaal.

i really like everything so far on this patch, i'm even fine with placing down banners on the boss of each map, but this warcries change... idk for me most warcries lost their personality, battlemage, infernal, enduring cry, are now just generic buffs rather than a interesting effect.
Its +5% to all Ele resistances per 5 power, so max power would be +30% to all Ele resists. The flat and max resists have different "per power" scaling, check the patch notes again.
Im absolutely looking forward to the melee changes considering the hard time I had with Boneshatter at endgame a few leagues ago. I hope we see some really good melee builds that do not require insane budget/investment to get it to work.
Pity you didn't mention the warcry effect on allies and neither the total power counted from Roaring Challenge node nor mastery 'warcries have minimum of 10 power'. Since unique enemies grant 20 power and Roaring Challenge raises the bar from 25 to ~31 in case of Battlemage's cry, I suspect it will be 20+10 when against a boss. The ally buff aspect is pretty useful for Dominating Blow, as it gives up to 6% base crit chance to all Sentinels in range. That combined with Infernal Cry should make for some spicy Guardian starter.
Anyone know if I'm allowed to write a macro to cycle warcries? So instead of pressing Q,W,E,R,T I can just press Q,Q,Q,Q,Q. That's legal right? (Basically the macro cycles the input after each press. Since it's 1 input = 1 server request)

Excellent breakdown. I haven't done a warcry-focused build before. If you wanted to run multiple warcries, does this mean you'll do a keyboard-finger-roll every 5-7 seconds to get them all back up?
So, does Sione's node mean that you can have no mobs at all around you and it will fire at full power, such as Enduring Cry giving maximum endurance charges if you are all alone?

Hey man I love the insights you have in your videos. I would like them more though if you didn't spend as much time reading out all the numbers. You have them written out clearly on the screen. I tend to end up playing your vids at 2x for a large chunk of the duration because of how much of youw script is reading entire stat lines with the viewer. I totally understand it for important numbers or single crucial lines. When it's for things like the exact ele res (not max res) you get with a cry active, or the exact powers per enemy rarity, I feel that showing them for 5-10 sec is adequate. Really enjoy your content so please keep it up!
@@dreamcore_ggI think its going to be ridiculous for skills that dont care about exerts. All you need is the shield, x1 or x2 -1 max endurance and a way of self hit like scorn girdle and endurance composure. Unveiled trigger mod on weapon Forbidden Rite (lvl 1) + enduring composure + 2 min frenzy charges on jewelry. you trigger FR, you count as being hit recently. Enduring composure starts giving u an endurance charge per second. You get to max, apple procs, you loose one boom u warcry. rinse and repeat every second. It can obviously be scaled up if you want to invest into endurance charges and get your min via grand spectrums + jewelry. GGG will never turn melee into an auto-bomber. Some people hated the piano aspect to totems, but other people just didn't like that totems could be killed so easily in higher tiered content especially because those buffs gave you all of your power. Now, sure, the piano thing remains but at least the uptime is guaranteed and you don't have to worry about the buffs drop off when you need it most.
these numericly sounds cool but losing like 20 passives to make warcry buffs stay longer and be more effective along with PIANO pressing them seems a bit bad.Sure you dont want to pick all of them but as a melee user you probably want half of them for sure. Most of true melee builds where using slams with warcries to be effective enough and that made them feel a bit off cause you had to correctly piano warcries before actually attacking your target to be maximum efficient and this was a bit frustrating along with having to keep an eye of urself not dieing from the boss while checking ur warcry buffs, I hope i see this wrong but it seems like they pushing melee into warcy meta Warcry should be a situational buff or something not a build enabler thats my opinion
you forgot urgent order for even more warcry speed(now does not increase cd). also i already played piano builds once and what i hated the most is how fast you can do all cries and how frequent you needed to keep the buffs up. so i think you should try to make it as long as possible and as fast as possible i think you should aim for less then 1 sec cast time for all your war cries and more then 10 secs duration at bear minimum
I did mention it briefly in skill cost section, the problem with that suppot is it's now a 200% cost multi which is insane, 38 mana cost on warcries with just that support
10 sec duration is grabbing all the warcry duration nodes on the tree and using the More Duration support gem. You'd also want Urgent Orders as well as a support so with those 2 you would only be able to choose 4 Warcries and each warcry would be something close to 0.25s or 0.2s cast time meaning it would 1 second to use all 4 warcries every 10 seconds.
Custom Mods for PoB (all scaled to 100% increased Warcry buff effect) just copy and paste the ones you need ANCESTRAL CRY +60% to all elemental resistances +6% to all maximum elemental resistances ENDURING CRY 20% of maximum life regenerated per second INFERNAL CRY 50% of Physical damage gained as extra fire damage INTIMIDATING CRY 36% Increased Movement Speed SEISMIC CRY 50% More Armour 150% increased Stun Threshold BATTLEMAGE CRY +5% to Critical Strike Chance
What does "increased total Power counted by Warcries" mean? If I took Roaring Challenge for 25% of that, would that mean the total power of e.g. Infernal Cry increases from 25 to 31?
@@Frank_Art the question is not about the maths, the question is whether it works this way at all. From the wording on the Node it could also mean that it just counts more power for each monster, but doesn't count above its cap. Since the stat already existed pre 3.25 I just wanted to know if anyone tested it/knows about it since the wiki doesn't elaborate on it.
What exactly looks good in Regards to the new Warcries? Warcries feel clunky af as long as you can't skill the old keystone "Call to Arms" or use the gem "Call to Arms". This is unless you scale heavly into warcries at which point you have to ask yourself why you just don't scale into something else with less buttons and more convienience. The "Autoexertion" Gem unfortunately stops warcries from giving you buffs or charges which means that warcries will mainly, if not only, be played for the exterted attacks, at which point the buffs on the warcries themselves basically don't matter anymore. But tha's just my 2 cents.

Yeah that is now meant for warcries which you just care about the exertion effect of. No buff effect and 15% reserved per cry. I’d think it’s probably worth it for something like intimidating cry since the warcry automation also increases cooldown recovery rate now
Yes, this would be a piano playstyle hence the need to scale duration to minimize the frequency of warcry use. I've seen other builds use the new warcry automation skill to auto shout warcrys not needed for the build purely to generate exerted attack charges.

@@dragonjim93 I'm planning doing impale EQ of amplification, in pob and combine with the new increase duration support, the after shock will happen after 6+ second, so maybe 4 manual warcries and an auto warcry. in between I may also put some auro mines, for map clearing I think Earthshatter could be enough.
There's also melee physical damage support.

you forgot overexertion support ;)
me, I'm new to almost all Warcries.
@@q0s553 It disables the bonuses
Without a good way to automate war cries, I don't see them being used much for their buffs. At least I don't see me hitting the buttons for war cries every few seconds. There is a reason why players skilled Call to Arms on the tree and had them on left click or used the Call to Arms gem last league. As Autoexertion removes the buffs you now only get the exterted attacks automated for melee builds and it costs mana reservation on top.
I'd like to see some coverage on what the specific exerts do for each warcry as well!
+5% flat crit seems super good, way easier to crit cap with less investment
Not only slams, but exertion for rage vortex lasts whole duration and since berserker is the one for rage AND exertion 😏
This was really helpful thank you! Great content as always 👍
@@krusty_k yeah and instead of needing to device blessing grace since you can’t reduce the cost anymore, you just hit that war cry
Amor stacked no longer exist righe?
Fantastic breakdown as always. Thanks for these great 3.25 vids.
Glad they're helpful!
should've mentioned autoexertion:
Call to Arms: Has been renamed to Autoexertion.
Hmm the cool down recovery speed it's good buff for corrupting cry general's cry 🤔
Rallying Cry + Iron mass would easily outscale a couple added phys abyss jewels jewels
It may also be possible to use the rune crafting to put the infinite warcry power mod on a 2hander if that mod is in the list.
You can short the cast up to 0.26 with Urgent Orders but you are right, it's still sluggish.
Autoexertion making you lose the buffs makes it mostly a non go imo
great video sir, very informative. just wondering, @ 10:30 what skill gem you used to freeze adds ?
Question about auto exertion, new call to arms now doesnt provide buffs so does it mean new call to arms is now useless?

i really like everything so far on this patch, i'm even fine with placing down banners on the boss of each map, but this warcries change... idk for me most warcries lost their personality, battlemage, infernal, enduring cry, are now just generic buffs rather than a interesting effect.

Im absolutely looking forward to the melee changes considering the hard time I had with Boneshatter at endgame a few leagues ago. I hope we see some really good melee builds that do not require insane budget/investment to get it to work.
I think there will be a lot of good melee setups with moderate investment
I want to try going for a bleed or ignite slam Cheiftan, but I don't know which slam skill would be beat for that. I wanted to try Earthquake.
All great points

I tend to end up playing your vids at 2x for a large chunk of the duration because of how much of youw script is reading entire stat lines with the viewer. I totally understand it for important numbers or single crucial lines. All you need is the shield, x1 or x2 -1 max endurance and a way of self hit like scorn girdle and endurance composure.

Most of true melee builds where using slams with warcries to be effective enough and that made them feel a bit off cause you had to correctly piano warcries before actually attacking your target to be maximum efficient and this was a bit frustrating along with having to keep an eye of urself not dieing from the boss while checking ur warcry buffs,
I hope i see this wrong but it seems like they pushing melee into warcy meta
Warcry should be a situational buff or something not a build enabler thats my opinion
you forgot urgent order for even more warcry speed(now does not increase cd). also i already played piano builds once and what i hated the most is how fast you can do all cries and how frequent you needed to keep the buffs up. so i think you should try to make it as long as possible and as fast as possible i think you should aim for less then 1 sec cast time for all your war cries and more then 10 secs duration at bear minimum

Does Buffeffect raise the "up to a maximum" cap of a specific warcry gem? I thought it is a hardcap and buffeffect only helps in reaching the cap.

New warcries and new rage mechanic looking way too OP. Should be a fun league.
