I have the same tent. I love it. I usually keep a small quick dry towel in the tent, so I can mop up condensation. I use hiking poles, was thinking of buying a tent pole so I could have one for foot box, main tent, head box tie outs. But I saw you use just a stick with a y at the end, and it dawned on me. I'll save my money on that. -TCGB Adam (TheWeekendHiker)
I've been looking at that tent all winter and after seeing yours I'm pretty much sold. Thanks for a great review. Ps... Just heard the first peepers of the season up in NH tonight. That to me means time to go🎣!!!
Great video. That looks like a really solid tent. I've been looking for a tent for when I'm not using my hammock. Looks like six moons makes so,e really great and really affordable stuff. I've been waffling between the skyscape scout and that tent you have. Really good review. Keep them coming.
ahh, 6md LS LE is a great tent! love the perimeter ventilation and wide open front. I've been thinking about getting the pole for quite some time but haven't done it yet. Thanx for sharing.
Funny I have the same tent and love it. In fact I am planning an AT section hike later this month so I set it up in the backyard to and water tested it. Can't wait to get back on the trail.
Okay, so I got this tent a couple of months ago (seam sealed) and I was able to test it yesterday at cold temp (~36F). I might not have set it up correctly, I think I did lol, but I've managed to leave as much ventilation as possible. But man, the moist was horrible, maybe I didn't have enough ventilation. plus the rain didn't help at all lol. But it kept me dry all night. If you want this tent, make sure you practice how to pitch the tent prior to your camping trip. I mean having your bathtub floor at least 5-6 inches off the ground. Unless there's no rain then it shouldn't matter too much lol. Overall, I still like this tent, love it actually. Cheers! :D
Yes, good point on the price there. It is quite hard to grab "Made in non EU" gear here in Germany. You have to pay extra taxes and import customs. Usually 200$ means around 262€ + special shipping. Found a retailer over here to grab one at around 229€. Looking forward to my first hike with the SMD.
I have the lighter version for when I am not hanging in my Blackbird. The selling factor for me was the room and ease of setting it up plus the small size when it is packed and the light weight. I like to have the front open and rolled back with only the bug netting closed for maximum ventilation and bug protection. Sometimes ( If I can ) I take it one step further if it looks like rain and then I hang a tarp ( off-center ) over the front of it which gives me an additional area for staying dry.
Hey dude, I'm pretty similar I just won't use a trekking pole so I purchased the carbon fiber pole also. Used the tent a couple of times now. The only problem I have had is the wind blows in the sil nylon from the main body of the tent. Perhaps I need to tension it more but it seemed to be at max. The additional line on either side might help. What are your thoughts on that? Any way, mostly happy. All the best there. Mark.
@Cragdwella please give your opinion. Is this tent roomy enough to use for motorcycle camping, including wet weather. Is there enough space inside to put motorcycle gear - jacket, trousers, other clothes? Read a book in bad weather days ? :)
Sorry for the late response, yes this gem of a tent is big enough for what you are looking for.Keep in mind it is a single wall tent, there will be condensation at times. I have never really had a lot of condensation . In any kind of weather. I can't recommend this tent enough ! Let me know how you make out ! Cheers !
Hey Cragdwella, I hope you have been doing well! I am looking to purchase a tent for the same reasons you did - for the trips where I cannot hang. This tent looks like a great option, although I'm leaning towards the regular Lunar solo. Do you still give it two thumbs up? How has the floor held on on you in the LE version? Do you still use a tyvec or polypro ground cover under the tent? Thanks.
Fishwater Nice to hear from you ! Yes, I use a small piece of tyvek under the tent. The floor is fine . The only difference between the regular and the LE is the floor material is a little heavier denier fabric on the LE. And of course the color. I still give it two thumbs up ! If I had three thumbs,I would give it three LOL Peace
Look at the floor and vestibule space/price of this shelter compared to others. He's right, it is a bargain and one of the best solo hiker, camping shelters available in my opinion. SMD stands behind their products too. Pitch the tent as "high" as possible to increase airflow to reduce condensation potential.
It does fold down with an internal bungy cord. If I remember correctly it folds down to 13" ? I will get back to you on this. Thanks for watching, Peace
Lake 13 When I got home from work I measured the carbon fiber pole. It folds in three sections for a total length of 17.5 inches. Still fits inside of my ULA ohm 2.0 ,or outside. Hope this helps ! Peace
Thanks for the info. I ordered my Lunar Solo LE Saturday, but the crazy thing is backordered until mid-April. Got the carbon fiber poles with it. Thanks again.
Lake 13 Awesome ! You should be really happy with the shelter. It took me a while to get to where I could set it up perfect ,every time. But it was worth the effort. Good luck ,glad I could help. Peace

+Kemrer Thank you !
+Cragdwella your review set me over the top, mine is ordered

Looks like the bath tub floor is high in the front, but not any hight in the back.
It is the same all the way around, it may just be the way it is set up.

gosh I keep thinking I want a 2 person just to have room to move while sitting in a storm or maybe share the shelter with someone
This tent has a lot of room !

Thank you, the pad is a Big Agnes Q-Core

Does the carbon fiber pole fold up? How compact does it break down (in inches)?
It does fold down with an internal bungy cord. If I remember correctly it folds down to 13" ? I will get back to you on this. Thanks for watching, Peace

Lake 13 Just subbed your channel. Good luck with your channel,UA-cam is awesome.
Have you had any issues with water coming over the bathtub floor and into the tent?
JPOutdoors. No , the sides of the floor are around six inches. If water was up that high you would have serious issues ! lol
Excellent tent setup you got here. I also made a six moon design video. Please check it out and let me know what you think. Any suggestions will help
Looks good ! Peace
how would that do in winter?
It does good with snow, spent the night twice and it sheds the snow well.
Give me please
