A fine little piece, the Daitaiho mixed the medium mortar/light infantry gun requirements pretty well. Could be broken down into loads for man or horse/mule packing (Handbook of the Imperial Japanese Forces-University of Louisiana Press). Low tech and dependable. I don't condone war, but, if required to oppose an enemy force in mixed terrain, I would consider purchasing these. The Daitaiho has a wide variety of shell and shot types, too, including a HEAT round that beats the 57mm and 47mm guns against armor at range. Allowed to devolve into "what if?" scenarios, I would take off the turrets from my Type 97 tankettes and mount the type 92 gun in their fighting compartments instead. The 70mm hi/low shows much better performance in every intended role than the Chi Ha's WW1-ish 57mm. This additionally saves the light piece from being thrown around, while in tow. That was the problem with the Hotchkiss 25mm, also; its too light construction rendered it unable to be towed at speed.
