  • Located in the heart of the Mayan Riviera, Puerto Morelos QUICKLY became our favorite beach town in Mexico!

Puerto Morelos is in the Mexican state of Quintana Roo, located halfway between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen. On the shores of the Caribbean Sea, the waters and beach of Puerto Morelos are some of the prettiest we’ve seen!
This quaint little beach town is kicking off our 2019 Mexico travel vlog and we can’t wait to explore this town and surrounding area even more! The town itself is pretty small, one of the smallest beach towns we’ve been to throughout our Mexico travels. But there is a huge coral reef right off shore, quite a few great restaurants to try, and some of the best snorkeling and diving in the Yucatan Peninsula. Needless to say, I think we’ll stay plenty busy here.
If that isn’t enough, with the town’s close proximity to Cancun and Playa Del Carmen and other amazing destinations in the Riviera Maya, there’s no shortage of things to do within a reasonable driving distance.
One thing that has plagued Mexico’s Caribbean beaches over the course of the past year is the sargazo (seaweed). Typically, this is only something that these Mexico beach towns only have to deal with about 1 month a year, but lately it’s been different. In our opinion, the sargazo in Puerto Morelos hasn’t been too bad since we’ve been here. It can pile up on the beaches but the water has been pretty clear with its natural, gorgeous, hues of blue and green.
In today’s video, we ate breakfast at a local restaurant and later had some Veracruz-influenced seafood at another. We also took a short trip to Cancun to purchase some things that we’ve been needing from Costco, which was a super painless drive straight up the highway.

I have started watching you guys recently. I really like what you guys are doing. I am actually going to Puerto Morelos with my Father during Memorial Day week (May 27-May31). I have never been outside of the country aside from Canada back in 2008 when I went up to see the Pittsburgh Penguin's vs, Buffalo Sabers Winter Classic match, which was on new years day of 2008, and me and my father got up there on new year's eve and went over to Canada to see Niagara falls. I am from and live in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, which is why we wanted to see that game, and I am glad we did. I am really looking forward to seeing Mexico for a week. My father has been there somewhere between 15-20 times I recall him telling me, so yes, needless to say, I am quite excited to see Mexico. Thank you for what you do, keep up the good work. You guys provide fun, yet informative videos, and I appreciate it. Keep up the good work, and keep learning through your experiences and having fun in the process.

I love how you handle gonging the bell every show and your closing music theme always makes me feel very happy! I can't wait to see all your videos in 2019, which will be a GREAT YEAR!

Thank you so much for these videos and this channel. I recently visited Playa de Carmen about 3 weeks ago and completely fell in love with Mexico! I found out that my father was Mexican and Puerto Rican about 3 years ago and since then I’ve fallen in love with the culture that runs so deeply in my veins. I agree about the prices of the touristic areas such as playa and Cancun. I realized that the prices were cheaper then the states but still a bit on the pricey side. I found so much value in this video as far as my next place to visit in Mexico and I’m seriously considering moving to my native land. Very, very proud to be Mexican. 🇲🇽 Thank you so much for all of the information that you share about this beautiful land!!!! Loving you guys and watching you daily from NJ. Bendiciones!!!

Hi There! My wife and I have been visiting Puerto Morelos for several years. There are certainly a lot more conveniences and options now, although it is also busier. It is still a great small town. Your perspective helps to remind us of what a gem it is. We enjoy your perspectives, not just of PM but the entire region including Playa del Carmen and Cozumel.

Great showcase of the beautiful little beach town of Puerto Morelos, guys! I'm American (Floridian) and my wife is Mexican (D.F.) We live just up the road in Cancun. We've been living in the Riviera Maya for 6 years. We LOVE taking day trips down to Puerto Morelos to have lunch at the Pelicanos restaurant (our favorite). Have you guys visited the craft beer brewery located just a little ways passed Puerto Morelos on the federal highway on the way to Playa del Carmen. They have some great beers and a food truck that comes there that serves some tasty treats. If you guys have any questions about the Riviera Maya, or would like to get together for lunch, just let me know. We'd love to meet you guys. Bienvenido a la Riviera Maya! Salud! 💩

@@TangerineTravels ua-cam.com/video/DmoUqqZhTAg/v-deo.html Since you will probably go to Chechen Itza at some point you may get a kick out of our honeymoon footage (1990) of the place. (you will need to fast forward to the correct place.) You may notice a few differences. Much smaller crowds, an un-restored area, and people climbing on the buildings and going into the Pyramid. The footage is dated and poor but you can use any or none of it if you want to. There is probably some Tulum footage also.

@@TangerineTravels It used to be this little unknown village that barely anyone knew about. We'd travel down the dirt road from the main highway and it looked more like traveling into the jungle. When you arrived, parking and seating in the restaurants were plentiful. Now, parking there is hard to find. There are a lot more people visiting now. In the old days the tourists were rare and most people were Mexican locals. Now many tourists. The charm is still there. I love the central square and the beach. It's much more expensive now. They've caught on to what we're used to paying for things. As always, it's a charming little town. It's not just tourists. As the baby boomers retire en masse, more and more American retirees will be moving to Mexico. Not the majority or anything but more than in previous years. For many people, it is the attractive cost of living in Mexico. Many people were either unable to save much for retirement, or lost a chunk of their money in the crash of 2007. For them, they can either live in near-poverty in the United States, or have a much better life in Mexico (and other low cost destinations).

Puerto Morelos is our favorite place in the Riviera Maya. We have been 3 times and going back in late July. We taxied off the resort a couple of times and went into the downtown area and walked around at night like it was nothing. Very safe town that seemed very family oriented and quiet. I just hope it doesn't get too touristy anytime soon. We also love Akumal which has the absolute best beach and snorkel but been ruined a bit by the overwhelming amount of tourists that have flooded the city.

Even the places/resteraunt prices you mention as expensive are cheap compared to here on Cape Cod. And the food looks and is reviewed by you as being fantastic. I love living here on the Cape but really, trying to find a resteraunt that isn't bland or just plain lousy is a lot of work. It's like, does anybody here know how to cook? A cheesburger averages about $14. Great videos from you all around. I can't stop watching right now.

Small but very, veeery cute (try to go on november/december when there's bioluminescence, and turtle releasing going on. I think you would have a great time, i did.

Had to chuckle at your ‘melt down’ comment. My wife calls them Mexican Melt-downs, I call them BCD’s - Bad Culture Days. We all have them as we try to adjust to an unfamiliar way of life. They’re more frequent at the beginning, but get less as time goes on as I’m sure you’ve experienced. The only cure for us is to submerse ourselves in something familiar that we enjoy for a day or so. My wife locks herself in our house, turns on our Canadian tv programming and putters around the house. Me, I go hang out with English speaking friends; regardless of nationality. That’s one of the reasons I’m sure Starbucks does so well down here. 😁😁😊

I have enjoyed watching your videos . There is a regional (Mayan) street food Salabutes . It is basically a taco with a deep fried corn tortilla , but not crunchy . The best my wife and I have had , is available in Playa behind the Walmart on 30 Ave , The corner of 25 ave and 10 street , in the Plaza Municipal parking lot . They operate between 8 am (approx) until all the food is sold , usually 12 to 1 in the afternoon Mon- Sat . After 10 am be prepared to stand in line , it is very popular with the locals , for a good reason . Enjoy your time in Puerto Morelos

Hi Guys- Great videos, I love what you're doing. Following a recent trip to the area, I've been looking for a nice little town exactly like PM. I'm excited to see that you found it also. At some point can you discuss the differences between the part of town adjacent to the beach vs the portion of town which is on the west side of the highway?
