I don't think Discord have much concern about being "alive", as he showed to Starlight in "A Matter of Principals". As long as magic comes back eventually, he can recreate his body.
There was some official art recently, can’t remember where from but it shows the G5 Mane 5 exploring an abandoned Canterlot, Sunny appears to be holding what seems to be Discords horn (the one on his head), suggesting he may be gone.

I'm pretty sure there was an episode with Starlight mentioning in passing that she was a Fair bit older than Twilight herself (like 200) and this might not be necessarily true due to other episodes being canon. So she could actually be immortal
True and we dunno exactly how old Celestia and Luna are ... but it seems to have only taken 20 some years for Twilight to grow to Celestia's height ... grant it she was older than Cadance was when becoming an alicorn as we see teen Cadence as an Alicorn... and yet when Twilight in an adult Cadance is still shorter than Celestia ... but maybe cause not as much time had passed for her... maybe Cadance was only an Alicorn for 10 years by that point... while we see Twilight after 20 years... Anyway, I got off topic there... The fact that the story of Equestria's founding mentions unicorns used their magic to raise the sun and moon before Celestia and Luna came. Then the fact Luna was imprisoned on the moon for 1000 years. It's safe to assume Celestia is thousands of years old. However, Luna is smaller than Celestia even after 1000 years. So did she stop aging on the moon? Or did magic revert her back to her innocent youth? I feel like she was only a few years old, like 20+ and less than 100, and going to the moon kept her from aging in appearance. That also makes sense as I imagine Celestia controlled day and night alone before her sister was born and took over the night. This also explains Celestia being able to control Day and Night for 1000 years by herself. We see at the end the sun setting by itself and then G5 has day and night moving on its own. I think Twilight invented a magic object to control the sun and moon automatically. If that's the case, magic did still exist even after it was gone. But it was only in magical items.

And between Cadence and Twilight, I think it's about their occupation, Twilight as a ruler of Equestria, Cadence as the ruler of the Crystal Empire, considering that Equestria is much more bigger than Crystal Empire, I think somehow Twilight as the Ruler Of Equestria, is bigger cause of her Occupation. That's just my theory though
That's one of the things never explicitly stated in the show. We know Celestia & Luna have been around for over a thousand years, but the term immortal is never used in the actual show.
Actually we do have a slight clue as to their state of being while in statue form. If what discord says is true they are still very aware of their surroundings but not able to move, so a fate I feel far worse than death.

What if the magic wasn't completely gone? It was stored in crystals from each of the pony tribes, so maybe it was just pony magic (and that of those animals from Zephyr Heights who could fly for some reason). Some people say that Twilight is still alive, and is the reason why magic was lost (although the specifics of her motives for doing that vary from one person to another), and didn't lose her own magic. I think it's interesting to note that Equestria in G5 is safe and hasn't been taken over by any evil forces, despite having been isolated and defenseless for possibly many centuries, which suggests that someone or something had been protecting it. Unless literally everyone who might want to take advantage of this situation is already dead or otherwise incapacitated.
I've been thinking about the possibility that it's only pony magic which disappeared, however, I don't think that's the case. We've only seen 2-2.5 non pony species using magic, all of them bearing some resemblance / possible relation to the ponies. The species in question being Kirin, Changelings, and (kinda) Hippogriffs. We have seen no other species being able to use magic. Other than that, there are only specific unique creatures using magic; most of them villains (Discord, Tirek, "The Shadow" (Pone of Shadows)); as well as the reindeer and (kind of) Spike. So it'd seem that magic is mostly related to (extended) pony-kind. If other beings still had magic, it would most likely had been mentioned or shown in the G5 movie. As you said, Equestria wasn't taken over by anyone/anything. Now, it's possible that outside forces simply weren't aware of the ponies loss of magic; after all, sun and moon still function, and even the ponies weren't aware that the other tribes had lost their powers. So maybe other threats simply didn't attempt to attack as they weren't aware of Equestria's relative defenselessness. A protector in the shadows (be it Twilight, Discord, or whoever) would be an option too, though I hope they won't go for that, as that has the potential to cause endless moral dilemmas. And yea, I know the "Evil Twilight took away magic and is now mad at Sunny" idea. Not a huge fan of that one either; plus I can't see Hasbro pulling a 180 on the previous generation's main character and turning them into a villain; so while it's a somewhat entertaining thought, I do not consider it at all likely. Closing remark: I personally went with the "all magic was gone" idea as it does away with the problem of why no super-villain took over the land; it seemed the most obvious solution. Also, it's more TV-Y compatible than other ideas, heh.
@@StratagemHorse Yeah, Twilight as a villain seems unlikely, but I think it would be cool if well written. Like a more impactful version of Nightmare Moon, with a richer backstory and a more morally ambiguous motivation, instead of just wanting to destroy everything. In any case, the state of Equestria in the movie feels very artificial. The pony tribes are completely isolated from each other and apparently unaware that other types of creatures exist (if they still exist), for who knows how many generations. The movie sort of acknowledges that with the memory stone Easter egg in the background, but I don't know if they are actually going anywhere with this. It feels like the writers just decided to force this situation to fit the story they wanted to tell, without worrying too much about the logic of how it would come to pass or how it would last for so long. That is what made me start looking for explanations like Twilight or someone else pulling the strings from behind the scenes. But I guess we'll see what they come up with for the series next year. I was also wondering if there are other pony settlements besides the ones we see in the movie. If so, how do ponies travel between them without crossing other tribes? And if not, how did the population of Equestria drop so much? That can turn dark pretty quickly, but that fanfic has already been written anyway. I guess the TV-Y explanation is that the movie takes place around the triple frontier of the tribes' territories, so I'll go with that for now.

He is the only being with powers suited for creating this kind of environment as well as powerful enough to keep new threats out. I could see him doing something like this as a final request from fluttershy. As for Twilight being the one to take away magic, it works if you look at is as a last ditch effort to stop the tribes from waring and destroying each other

When she goes to do that magical warning recording, her model looks the same as everyone else's, even though we SEE at the end she has grown and has a crown, peacefully living on to that point. Discord could have lost his magic but kept his immortality. For all we know, his immortality could be attached to his species like dragons rather than his magic. I mean, he is a draconequus. For all we know, that species is immortal or at least long living like the dragons. It would also explain why he couldn’t solve everything with his op magic, because he has none. And instead of him appearing as a villain or a good guy, he could just be some wise old sage character living in flutter shy’s old home. Maybe it could be overgrown and a tree could have grown through it, which would make for a very fun design. We have plenty of hollowed out trees for houses, but what about an old house where a tree grew through it? Would make for some nice silent lore. Plus having discord as a wise old sage type of character would work pretty well with the possible stories for g5. A fan favorite story route people hope for them to go on is a journey through equestria, giving us a view of what it’s become, as the characters search for clues of the past so they can learn forgotten lessons to help them in the present.
Yeah. A draconequus is a mixure of all sorts on animals, including *dragons.* It's possible that he has the ability of a dragon to have a naturally long life-span.

In one of the comics Discord is shown to be alive, but aged, meaning he may not have all of his magic NOTE: In that same comic, it's shown that the alicorn at the end of Make Your Mark caused the feud between the pony races
the conclusion i always drew about alicorns was that they lived as long as the subject of their cutie mark. cutie marks may be an enigma still, but the effects seemed straightforward; celestia and lunas magical fate-dentity were connected to the actual sun and moon in the sky. twilight was a, if not THE, major conduit for some of the most powerful magic in equestrias history (all of it friendship based, no less). and cadence was... less clear, it seemed she may have been connected to the crystal heart, OR could have been the alicorn of love, and alongside shining armor was a marker of a different kind of love than friendship, as well as parents to flurry heart, who, born in the crystal pony kingdom, would eventually rule it as the obe with the connection to the crystal heart. so celestia and luna could very well still be kicking, since the sun and moon are, obviously. twilight may or may not be (depending on if you read her life purpose to be magic based or friendship based) and could either be just some weird giant purple lady in a library somewhere OR dead after the last of her friends died. cadence is also a maybe, whether she dies after shining armor does or lives as long as flurry heart. and flurry heart is going to be alive as long as the crystal kingdom, so, take that for what you will. love the concept and how you handled it though. im excited to see how things shape up
Damm imagine the main 5 stumble upon that library twilight has gone insane and reads all the books she can get her hands on and is always wanting more and Sunny is questioning her life choices and the other 4 are just confused and scared.
There is one pony you overlooked. But the second one is StarSwirl who is properly passed on anyway despite his incredibly unusual longevity. The first is Starlight. Well, it is more than just Starlight. But Starlight armed with Star Swirl's spells. Herself and or Sunburst could be entrusted with Star Swirl's longevity secret. (which may or may not be an immortality like spell) She has also proven herself to be adept at time travel magic. This would make one of them (most likely starlight) to appear as living in G5 while having actually died a long time in the past. Not that I propose her role would be particularly big, But as a well experienced headmistress of the school of Friendship, she would be well placed to provide a crucial emotional or knowledge boost when the G5 group may need it.

I believe that after Twilight's friends died, something happened that made the 3 ponies (pegasi,unicorn,earth ponies) fight. In heartswarming, Twilight decided to plan something that included all the princesses but it went wrong and only brought back the windigos. Since the only known thing to defeat the windigos is friendship, Twilight doesnt have any other choice but to take the magic of everypony (including herself and her friends) but her friend's magic and herself turned into the form of their element and she combined them to the 3 crystals we know now. She tried to suck up the windigos with the crystals but she couldn't do it alone, so all the other princesses helped by tranferring all their magic to the crystal and standing by her side. She successfully banished the windigos along with herself and the princesses forever. This would make how their isnt any sign of windigos or how the sun and moon can set by itself. Sure Luna and Celestia could still be alive but wouldn't the other ponies know who they are? Because even if Celestia and Luna retired, after Twilight dies (I heard she's not immortal) someone has to take her place and the 2 sisters are the only choice. Sure another princess can rule over but she would still die and someone has to take her place and what if their wasnt any alicorn left? It just doesnt add up.
Alicorn lifespans could be as long-lasting as the purpose the alicorn in question has in the world is needed. And unless Discord turned himself into stone, he could be hiding in the chaos dimension, unable to leave during the period when magic was basically non-existing. I have a whole idea on how Twilight and the magic could leave, but that would require a dedicated video to discuss properly.
I've always thought that if Discord's realm wasn't affected by the loss of magic, the the dream realm wasn't either and Since most of Luna's magic seems to only really exist in the dream realm (Unless it escapes like the Tantabus) Luna might still exist there, and that the Tantabus and possibly traces of Nightmare Moon might also still exist. That would also explain why ponies aren't plagued by nightmares. Considering how important Luna's job was, (not saying Celestia was unimportant, but there were other ponies who could move the sun nd be a good leader) I have a feeling thing would go badly with out her.

What if twilight just removed magic from all pony kinds as she saw them fighting and she couldn’t fight that without her deceased friends therefore having no choice but to remove the magic. She had the idea of crystals as an idea so she stored everyone else’s magic into them. I think she is still alive as argyle has a NEW condition of twilights feather. If it was an old feather, why isn’t it in messy condition and why inst it dusty. Half broken etc.
Maybe. Personally, I don't think it overly likely though; as no one except for Argyle and Sunny had even heard of Twilight. I just can't imagine her removing herself from the world this much.
As for Discord it's clear that he is only in Equestria for Fluttershy mainly... If Fluttershy and him ended up together like I predict they hinted at in season 9s finale then if Fluttershy passed its probably very likely to predict that discord would feel he had no reason to live anymore and thus died with Fluttershy.... Spike well spike saw Twilight as a mother like figure, he loved Rarity, and he was super super close to Rainbow, Pinkie, Fluttershy, Starlight, Ember, Smolder, Thorax, Shining, Cadence, and Apple Jack if he Rarity POSSIBLY got together he probably passed when Rarity did.... If not then it's safe to assume that he stayed around for as long as Twilight did possibly to help her grieve or in a body guard type way aka to help keep her safe... But spike whether he died with Rarity or stayed with Twilight I see him dead either way cause if him and Rarity were together he like Discord wouldn't have handled the loss of a mate and then died with her if he wasn't with Rarity then it's safe to assume he stayed with Twilight but as Twilight eventually would've given either Luster or Starlight alicorn status it's safe to assume if not with Rarity Spike would've died with Twilight.... But the begs to question what about Twilight's personal student Luster and Starlight... Which one would become Alicorn? I mean Starlight, Trixie and Sunburst are probably around the same age as the mane 5 aka Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie, Rainbow, and AJ if that's the case I dont see Twilight making Starlight an Alicorn unless Twilight approved of Starlight making herself young again... Therefore I think Luster became a princess before magic died and if she did maybe cause Twilight sensed magic disappearing maybe to save Princess Luster Dawn she sends Luster to the Crystal Empire with Flurry if my theory is true it's possible that Luster Dawn is still alive but as a princess like Flurry
Actually In season 10 we see that chrysalis is actually almost free so they didn’t even lasted more the. 1 year or 2 maybe it was months but I am still feeling sad for cozy glow being turned to stone

Though I gotta say, it seems weird that these three would be able to break free in such a short time span, considering that Discord (who is more powerful than them) was petrified for over a thousand years.

my theory might be a bit extreme, but, I thought: what if Flurry Heart is Opaline? since Cadence is gone the crystal heart could also be since it served to spread Love and Light (Cadence and Flurry) and without cadence it could be gone, so Flurry got corrupted by King Sombra (explains the dark colors Opaline has) and moved to Canderlot since nobody lived there anymore and also because of the extreme cold. as I said it's a bit extreme but explains how there's a alicorn and why it's evil

I think that with Crystallis, like how changelings feed off love, that love helps them stay alive, and something tells me that there won't be that much love left with magic gone, so maybe she could even die before cozy glow does
I guess to contradict your idea of the Alison's being gone at this point, it doesn't explain why opaline is still around when it's been said that she basically grew up around Celestia and Luna
If discord is effectively a manifestation of chaos , like how the spirit of harmony is a manifestation of harmony then id say its likely that even if discord, being such a magical being died or straight up ceased to exist when magic disappeared so long as there is some chaos in equestiria i would say its likely discord would eventually reform from that once magic returned, whether that's the same discord with all the same memories or a 'new' discord called into existence in the same way but with a separate set of memories and experiences is up for debate.

Fun facts i figured out opaline the new alicorn in G5 has a very very similar color palette of furry if the color are inverted almost as if "she turned to the dark side" if she did yk, and to her being born an alicorn could be bc shining armor is a unicorn and cadence was i think said to be a pegasus so i think it could be that yk, since all other ponies are of the "same kind"?

My theory about Alicorns is that they’re not just magically immortal, but that they instead have a magically extended lifespan, meaning eventually they do die, but maybe an Alicorn death is more along the lines of fading into the ether
Ponies are naturally Tribalist, as evident by the fact that Equestria, on numerous occasions, was almost _ripped apart_ at its _seams_ because a disagreement broke out between a group of ponies. In fact, the only reason the tribes united and founded Equestria in the first place was because they'd all die otherwise. Equestria was created through an Alliance that was formed out of survival, not a new-found desire for friendship. Equestria was doomed to crumble eventually due to the ponies themselves.
If the spell sealing Cozy/Chrysalis/Tirek failed... wouldn't the spell sealing the Pony of Shadows (which was not Stygion but the shadow creature, itself) be released from limbo? Because Twilight had to break Starswirl's spell to open the gateway.
One of my favorite things is that if you look at twilight’s wiki (I think it’s twilight’s) one of the people who worked on g4 has said she doesn’t outlive her friends, which could be taken one of two ways: either they all went down together or as is also said “the ponies have been exposed too all sorts of crazy magic, who knows how it’s affected them” implying that the magic of friendship has made them so connected to Twilight that they share her immortality and I think that’s just neat :)
An alternative idea in that regard that just crossed my mind: Twilight 'sharing' her immortality with her friends causes them all to have 'less' immortality, so they all just get to be longer lived instead of immortal.
Them taking down Chrysalis who escaped (again) and at the same time losing their lives woyld be pretty poetic, since their final battle would be up against someone who loathes love and Friendship
That last theory doesn't seem very believable when you look at the last episode where Twilight is a full grown alicorn and the rest of her friends are clearly getting older. My theory is that the mane 5 dies eventually and Twilight is left alone, but after enough time for her student to be prepared to rule Equestria, she passes her immortality to that student who succeeded and became the new princess of Equestria just like Celestia did with her and then she passes on to be with her friends.

What if the main ponies aren't really dead? What if after the loss of Magic, the Mane Six's bodies got sucked into the Elements of Harmony (which could possibly still exist in G5) and in the elements, they got trapped, forever waiting for another pony to "reactivate" the elements and set them free. Or what if the ponies are really still alive, as in alive and breathing in the G5 universe? Maybe the loss of magic destroyed the G5 pony's taste of time? Making them confused that the G4 timeline was thousands of years ago when it is actually just a few years ago? So many questions, so little answers
Honestly i think pumpkin cake and (idk the other baby name) is in g5 cuz they were just babys in g4 for the whole show! And furry heart ofc but who is moving the sun and moon now? Flurry? Or someone else?
I have something else to put into the mix. If Tirek was trapped in Tartarus for centuries with literally no magic and in his weakened form then surely he has to be immortal. I mean at the beginning of Twilight's Kingdom when we first see him he's even weaker than his weakened form so he surely must be immortal. I'm sorry if I've missed something here, but something doesn't quite add up to me.
Grogar is actually a major villain in the original MLP show that I grew up with - and I'm pretty sure, iirc, he doesn't live in Equestria. He lives somewhere else. They make a very big point of saying he doesn't live in "Ponyland" (it's not called Equestria at this point; I don't remember its original name, but this is very much pre-Equestria. Fun fact - there's also a character living in this time called Gusty, who has the same cutie mark and colouring as Gusty the Great; so it's probably the same character). So it's entirely possible that he could return.
i finished watching all the available episodes and all the alicorns are probably alive with or without magic maybe not Twilight because Opaline herself has been alive since celestia and luna were kids and she did mention alicorns as "immortal rulers"
i dont think alicorns are immortal but can def live to over 1000, but in g5 when all the magic was gone for some reason (idk much about g5) it probably took away the magical long lifespan of an alicorn instead of the alicorns giving it up

Here's another possibility for Grogar: He could be in limbo. I also thought of a theory that would help explain some inconsistencies with the cutie marks in G5: the majority of magic in Equestria may be gone, but that does not mean that it's gone in the entire world. As we learn after the G4 movie (and when Tirek was introduced), there are lands outside of Equestria. Considering that the Storm King had some magic and that we don't see any other creatures like him in Equestria, he could be from elsewhere. The planet could still have magic, it's just very weak in Equestria. That would also help in explaining why so many ponies continue to receive their cutie marks and that they're present on just one flank instead of two.
I personally think that the trio who ended up as statues might have gotten free before whatever happened to divide the species... Really, Cozy Glow and Chrysalis would have been perfect to cause a divide. Chrysalis just disguises herself as ponies and randomly carries out acts to fan the flames of racism, with Cozy Glow helping from the pony side, while Tirek sits back and eventually tries to steal magic again during the chaos and suddenly there's an actual reason why removing magic entirely is a good idea to Twilight, since it's the only way to stop Tirek and put an end to the more destructive abilities being used by ponies against ponies like weather magic, unicorn spells, and earth pony strength!
a theory of mine, is that g4 takes place around 150-250 years before g5. If you look at the technology in g4 its looks to be around 1850s, 1900s era technology. Looking at the technology of g5, phones, modern houses so i can gues current time, 2020. Unfortunately my theory gets broken when a line in G5 states that twilight lived in a ancient time period. Idk

Another theory is that G4 was an extremely long time ago, where all the recordings of that time was lost by then. It also makes sense, because it would take a lot longer to build stuff as a pony (remember the have hoofs, so its 5 times harder). That means less invention, industrialization and urbanization
Good take. I think what makes it hard to really estimate the time frames is that 1) Equestria suffers from "Medieval Stasis", where things don't seem to progress much at all (compare the few scenes we got from the times of the pillars to modern / G4 Equestria) and 2) G4 mixing tech levels. They got a wild west settlement like Appleloosa (~1800s), but at the same time there's Las Pegasus with roller coasters, intercom devices and more modern DDR machines than G5...

Alicorns I dont think are immortal, Celestia and Luna were in power way longer then they should have been and admitted that, but Twilight im pretty sure was a different story, I think the rulers said that Twilight would not reign as long and would also not be immortal *Not specifically in these words but still the same concept*, and the fact of everything going on in G5. And if we are just talking about Discord without magic, there is the possibility where he disappears, not because magic left, but because he lost personality, he lost his magic, which partially makes him who he is.
Excuse me, I have News for you the special will be come out next year in 2022 which is spring or fall and that way we can get more answers and questions about what happened to it and some of the characters alive
actually the special is this spring. :) There will be two series "Tell your tale" will be available on youtube, and will be 2d and be like a slice of life, but the "Make your Mark" series will be 3rd and look exactly like the movie. And I think "Make your Mark" is supposed to be the actual series and this one has a special which is coming out on the 26th of May. The actual series is somewhere in September. I think that since Discord is an embodiment of pure chaos, and chaos will be around forever, he should be immortal. If he dies somehow though, then there will be a new creature of chaos created by nature.
Oh and any victim of the cockatrice, since I'd imagine that any victim of them would possibly exist as stone. Possibly able to return in a future moment using magic or a friendly cockatrice willing to turn them back. Great... Now that makes me imagine some characters might have used one to save themselves when magic was getting destroyed, maybe even in pieces to be assembled at a later moment..

My theory is that they lived until magic was gone because I think that they are immortal as long as magic is still around but when it was sealed away they lost the thing keeping them alive so they started to pass one by one
The biggest question that has to be answered is WHY magic is gone, And for that, I have a theory: It could be possible that someone from the HU-mane Universe found out about the pathway from Canterlot High (or possibly some other place, since we know that magic has been connected to other places in that world.) But due to one event or another, they ended up causing trouble in the Mane universe, and thus Twilight had to cut all connections between the two worlds and cover up the events to make sure nobody else would cause more trouble like that again, but due to the various tribes only knowing the results and not its origin they'd blame each other for what happened and as a result, Friendship (and subsequently Magic) would start to fade from the world, But the knowledge that came from the other world remained. Thus it would explain why the world looks more Advanced than before but the "why's" and "How's" are Not. Granted, I would assume that Magic ITEMS would not have lost their inherited power (since, while it CONTAINS magic powers It can't "leak" (for lack of a better term) it without a (metaphorical) Hole that would drain it.) After all, if magic was lost "naturally", it wouldn't be possible to re-awaken it again, but the movie showed us that the power was only inaccessible, not lost. If it WAS lost some creature would have done so on purpose. (why they would try to steal it in the first place I do not know, but that's beside the point.) After all, the movie showed us that the power was just inaccessible, not gone.
Something that intrigues me is how long dragons live. In the later seasons we saw with the Pillars that dragons like Torch and who we assume is Ember's mother are full grown and Torch looks identical to how he is in modern day. And this is +1000 years ago and before the Pillars left when Celestia and Luna were young students so Torch more than likely could be far older than Celestia and Luna themselves. And we saw how much things changed between the Pillars time and Twilight's time, so the idea of Gen 4 and Gen 5 being around 1000 years apart makes sense, I mean compare it our world and compared the 1910s to the 2010s. So logically Spike and the other dragons being around does make a lot of sense.
How different would this list be if it's proven that ponies live much longer lives than humans? Ex; Granny Smith. Some other bronies like joshscorcher brought up some good points.
Ah yes, the Granny Smith / founding of Ponyville / Winter Wrap Up argument... Overall, I don't think that a longer life-span would change things much. The timeline stretches, what was assumed to be a hundred years might become three hundred, or one thousand, but in the end, it's just numbers that change. Not to disregard that theory, but, I personally think that this was kind of a faux pas by the show writers: Ponyville is within spitting distance of the capitol city, which we know was founded very early on in Equestria's existence (Luna referring to the "Royal *Canterlot* Voice), yet PV was only founded a few centuries ago? Unlikely. It's deep within the heart of Equestria, so it's most likely a lot older, possibly as old as Canterlot. To me it feels like one of the many instances in which the writers just made things up as they went, without any deeper thought about consistent world building. Or another way to look at it: if Ponies did indeed have significantly longer life spans, then there would still be some ponies around who either witnessed things like Nightmare Moon or heard about such events from parents / grandparents who were alive at that time. But no, it's all ancient history remembered by no one.
Relating to this, I hate it when people directly compare the ponies' lifespans to real life animals. They're obviously different. I mean, imagine how depressing it would be to only live like 20 years as a sapient, intelligent creature. Their lifespans are the same as ours, if not longer.

while not canon, the gen 5 IDW comics confirm that discord is still alive sadly I doubt he'll appear in the main series, but if he does then damn I'll be surprised. also as for Chrysalis she might show up in in the gen 5 IDW comic, since at the end of issue 102 on the last page it shows chrysalis starting to break free, with a pony looking at her saying "she's early" and at the bottom of the page it says "the end for now" while I doubt she will appear in the main series ,there is still a chance she might appear in the comic. but yeah I feel like that is a hint that we might see her again because, why show her breaking free on the last page with the words "the end for now" and not do anything with it?
But would Fluttershy want to stay around forever after her friends, her animals and the 42nd descendant of Angel Bunny had passed on? Looking at it from the Fluttershy/Discord angle, I think it would be more likely for Discord to become mortal for her rather than her becoming immortal for him.

He does have control over his magic though, and chaos != evil. So he could cause chaos whilst still saving the day. Like how he deflected Sombra's magic by turning his attacks into confetti and other non-sense. Just turn Tirek into a banana and cause glowing arrows with the text "I cause the bad smells" hover over Chrysalis whenever she transforms to blow her cover. Or something like that; I think there are options there.

The three characters that I think are still around are discord flurry heart and spike. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t discord a god? I’m pretty sure he would be unaffected by magic disappearing from equestria. For flurry heart, my theory is simaliar to Stratagem. Because she was born a alicorn she is a true alicorn. That means she is immortal and she’s probably some where out side of equestria. Last is spike. I’m pretty sure that spike and the other young dragons are still alive. Discord is described as a "spirit" of chaos and disharmony. No creature is ever called a god in Friendship is Magic. Whether or not they simply used the term spirit instead of god to avoid upsetting certain people isn't clear though... So yea, if Discord is indeed supposed to be a divine being, he would still be around most likely. Spoiler: And apparently he is, at least according to the G5 comics. /Spoiler
I don't know if this supported by the cannon, but I think it is, I headcannon that the Changeling leaders have extended lifespans. I think Chrysalis probably used most of her lifespan in the past, but Thorax might still be alive, or have only died recently.
Better way to explain instant and permanent: Say someone throws a magic blast at you and you put up an anti magic field that is permanent, they can no longer use magic attacks. If they throw a magic blast at you and you cast it out with anti magic, the blast disappears but they can still use magic.
The ending was good and Twilight is ready to become the new ruler of Equestria. But in the mids's Of the ending It was kind of sad that Chrysalis, cozy glow And Tirek Did not get reform But instead They got turn to stone. Alicorns are probaby just immortal and not magically immortal, also starswirl has figured out a way to not age, he said after a thousand years he thought that there was nothing to learn, he can not be reffering to limbo cuz for him it would have been just like blinking for a regular person meaning he was here for a thousand years + before he was in limbo. Given he could do that Alicorns could also research or have the same or similar spell, and maybe any other genius of magic. So starlight may also be still here, she is a powerful unicorn just as powerful if not more than twilight meaning starswirl level. Now, magic even if gone is not completely gone, it just means no usage of magic, if there was no magic unicorns would have lost their horns, same as the pegasi who would have lost their wings, there needs to be magic to sustain them in the first place. Afte all unicorns use their magic with their horns and pegasi use their magic with their wings if there was no magic to sustain them then what use would they be, pegasi even though they got wings they can't fly meaning the wings them selves are magical in nature same can be said for the horns of the unicorns. Now if Alicorns are immortal due to magic then what about starswirl and starlight that are literally as powerful as Alicorns with their magic. Would they not also be magically immortal. And if Alicorns are not immortal, they still have long life spans, such as Celestia and Luna even after a thousand years, they still look in their best shape. Also flurry heart is the first ever ocation that an Alicorn has ever been born. Meaning Celestia and Luna became Alicorns and obtaining their long life spans. My theory is they probably opened a portal to limbo or mabye made a spell that would put them to sleep until woken up. Not to mention we don't know what transpired between Gen4 and Gen5. Also they crystals in the movie could be the artefacts that sealed magic and would only release it when it detects that all pony kind is once again combined and no longer views the difference between each other. The crystals could have been created by mabye twilight and cadence and even mabye flurryheart.
Discord because he’s a creature that lives forever and has already been in the G5 comic book series so far so I think he might be part of that show…. maybe… I guess.
i could be wrong here but this is just my personal opinion. i think the life span of the dragons is much longer. think about it. in the campfire episode where rainbow dash, rarity and applejack talk about their favorite legends, we see embers father. the legends take place around star swirls time which is before the princesses even started to rule so probably a thousand years and a couple decades, maybe even a century on top (or more who knows). and he was the size he is today even back then. he barely changed. this means that the dragons life span is closer to a couple thousand years rather then a couple centuries
I think Starlight Glimmer could still be around. She has a lot or experience dabbling into Star Swirl’s spells and Star Swirl claimed to have been alive for thousands of years despite being a normal unicorn, meaning he likely had some magic that extended his lifespan or made him immortal. Starlight has both used and improved Star Swirl’s spells throughout the series, so it certainly isn’t a stretch of the imagination that she could have made herself immortal or increased her lifespan. It also doesn’t seem improbable that she could have been promoted to an alicorn at some point in between G4 and G5, she certainly is capable of a lot of princess-worthy feats.
Legit, I'd like to see some post-credits scenes with a grown Flurry. They had a solid few episodes where she was the star of the show, for better or for worse, then nothing is really done with her after that.
Actually nightmare isn't the same the nightmare is a separate entaty that feeds off bad emotional matter so even if luna isn't around the nightmare and maybe the tantabus could still come back

I don't think Discord have much concern about being "alive", as he showed to Starlight in "A Matter of Principals". As long as magic comes back eventually, he can recreate his body.
There was some official art recently, can’t remember where from but it shows the G5 Mane 5 exploring an abandoned Canterlot, Sunny appears to be holding what seems to be Discords horn (the one on his head), suggesting he may be gone.

True and we dunno exactly how old Celestia and Luna are ... but it seems to have only taken 20 some years for Twilight to grow to Celestia's height ... grant it she was older than Cadance was when becoming an alicorn as we see teen Cadence as an Alicorn... and yet when Twilight in an adult Cadance is still shorter than Celestia ... but maybe cause not as much time had passed for her... maybe Cadance was only an Alicorn for 10 years by that point... while we see Twilight after 20 years...

The fact that the story of Equestria's founding mentions unicorns used their magic to raise the sun and moon before Celestia and Luna came. Then the fact Luna was imprisoned on the moon for 1000 years. It's safe to assume Celestia is thousands of years old. However, Luna is smaller than Celestia even after 1000 years. So did she stop aging on the moon? Or did magic revert her back to her innocent youth? I feel like she was only a few years old, like 20+ and less than 100, and going to the moon kept her from aging in appearance.
That also makes sense as I imagine Celestia controlled day and night alone before her sister was born and took over the night. This also explains Celestia being able to control Day and Night for 1000 years by herself. We see at the end the sun setting by itself and then G5 has day and night moving on its own. I think Twilight invented a magic object to control the sun and moon automatically. If that's the case, magic did still exist even after it was gone. But it was only in magical items.

Actually we do have a slight clue as to their state of being while in statue form. If what discord says is true they are still very aware of their surroundings but not able to move, so a fate I feel far worse than death.

What if the magic wasn't completely gone? It was stored in crystals from each of the pony tribes, so maybe it was just pony magic (and that of those animals from Zephyr Heights who could fly for some reason).
Some people say that Twilight is still alive, and is the reason why magic was lost (although the specifics of her motives for doing that vary from one person to another), and didn't lose her own magic. I think it's interesting to note that Equestria in G5 is safe and hasn't been taken over by any evil forces, despite having been isolated and defenseless for possibly many centuries, which suggests that someone or something had been protecting it. Unless literally everyone who might want to take advantage of this situation is already dead or otherwise incapacitated.
I've been thinking about the possibility that it's only pony magic which disappeared, however, I don't think that's the case.
We've only seen 2-2.5 non pony species using magic, all of them bearing some resemblance / possible relation to the ponies. The species in question being Kirin, Changelings, and (kinda) Hippogriffs. We have seen no other species being able to use magic.
Other than that, there are only specific unique creatures using magic; most of them villains (Discord, Tirek, "The Shadow" (Pone of Shadows)); as well as the reindeer and (kind of) Spike.
So it'd seem that magic is mostly related to (extended) pony-kind. If other beings still had magic, it would most likely had been mentioned or shown in the G5 movie. As you said, Equestria wasn't taken over by anyone/anything.
Now, it's possible that outside forces simply weren't aware of the ponies loss of magic; after all, sun and moon still function, and even the ponies weren't aware that the other tribes had lost their powers. So maybe other threats simply didn't attempt to attack as they weren't aware of Equestria's relative defenselessness.
A protector in the shadows (be it Twilight, Discord, or whoever) would be an option too, though I hope they won't go for that, as that has the potential to cause endless moral dilemmas.
And yea, I know the "Evil Twilight took away magic and is now mad at Sunny" idea. Not a huge fan of that one either; plus I can't see Hasbro pulling a 180 on the previous generation's main character and turning them into a villain; so while it's a somewhat entertaining thought, I do not consider it at all likely.
Closing remark: I personally went with the "all magic was gone" idea as it does away with the problem of why no super-villain took over the land; it seemed the most obvious solution. Also, it's more TV-Y compatible than other ideas, heh.
@@StratagemHorse Yeah, Twilight as a villain seems unlikely, but I think it would be cool if well written. Like a more impactful version of Nightmare Moon, with a richer backstory and a more morally ambiguous motivation, instead of just wanting to destroy everything.
In any case, the state of Equestria in the movie feels very artificial. The pony tribes are completely isolated from each other and apparently unaware that other types of creatures exist (if they still exist), for who knows how many generations. The movie sort of acknowledges that with the memory stone Easter egg in the background, but I don't know if they are actually going anywhere with this.
It feels like the writers just decided to force this situation to fit the story they wanted to tell, without worrying too much about the logic of how it would come to pass or how it would last for so long. That is what made me start looking for explanations like Twilight or someone else pulling the strings from behind the scenes. But I guess we'll see what they come up with for the series next year.
I was also wondering if there are other pony settlements besides the ones we see in the movie. If so, how do ponies travel between them without crossing other tribes? And if not, how did the population of Equestria drop so much? That can turn dark pretty quickly, but that fanfic has already been written anyway. I guess the TV-Y explanation is that the movie takes place around the triple frontier of the tribes' territories, so I'll go with that for now.

He is the only being with powers suited for creating this kind of environment as well as powerful enough to keep new threats out. I could see him doing something like this as a final request from fluttershy. As for Twilight being the one to take away magic, it works if you look at is as a last ditch effort to stop the tribes from waring and destroying each other

When she goes to do that magical warning recording, her model looks the same as everyone else's, even though we SEE at the end she has grown and has a crown, peacefully living on to that point. Chrysalis heard of Grogar, so I must assume she lived during the ancient times when he was a well known legend, not just obscure children's fairy tale.
Even if we disregard that, Celestia also seems to have known Chrysalis at some point in the past
Discord could have lost his magic but kept his immortality. For all we know, his immortality could be attached to his species like dragons rather than his magic. I mean, he is a draconequus. For all we know, that species is immortal or at least long living like the dragons.
It would also explain why he couldn’t solve everything with his op magic, because he has none. And instead of him appearing as a villain or a good guy, he could just be some wise old sage character living in flutter shy’s old home. Maybe it could be overgrown and a tree could have grown through it, which would make for a very fun design. We have plenty of hollowed out trees for houses, but what about an old house where a tree grew through it? Would make for some nice silent lore. Plus having discord as a wise old sage type of character would work pretty well with the possible stories for g5. A fan favorite story route people hope for them to go on is a journey through equestria, giving us a view of what it’s become, as the characters search for clues of the past so they can learn forgotten lessons to help them in the present.

the conclusion i always drew about alicorns was that they lived as long as the subject of their cutie mark. cutie marks may be an enigma still, but the effects seemed straightforward; celestia and lunas magical fate-dentity were connected to the actual sun and moon in the sky. twilight was a, if not THE, major conduit for some of the most powerful magic in equestrias history (all of it friendship based, no less). and cadence was... less clear, it seemed she may have been connected to the crystal heart, OR could have been the alicorn of love, and alongside shining armor was a marker of a different kind of love than friendship, as well as parents to flurry heart, who, born in the crystal pony kingdom, would eventually rule it as the obe with the connection to the crystal heart.
so celestia and luna could very well still be kicking, since the sun and moon are, obviously. twilight may or may not be (depending on if you read her life purpose to be magic based or friendship based) and could either be just some weird giant purple lady in a library somewhere OR dead after the last of her friends died. cadence is also a maybe, whether she dies after shining armor does or lives as long as flurry heart. and flurry heart is going to be alive as long as the crystal kingdom, so, take that for what you will.

There is one pony you overlooked. But the second one is StarSwirl who is properly passed on anyway despite his incredibly unusual longevity. The first is Starlight.
Well, it is more than just Starlight. But Starlight armed with Star Swirl's spells. Herself and or Sunburst could be entrusted with Star Swirl's longevity secret. (which may or may not be an immortality like spell) She has also proven herself to be adept at time travel magic. This would make one of them (most likely starlight) to appear as living in G5 while having actually died a long time in the past. Not that I propose her role would be particularly big, But as a well experienced headmistress of the school of Friendship, she would be well placed to provide a crucial emotional or knowledge boost when the G5 group may need it.

I believe that after Twilight's friends died, something happened that made the 3 ponies (pegasi,unicorn,earth ponies) fight. In heartswarming, Twilight decided to plan something that included all the princesses but it went wrong and only brought back the windigos. Since the only known thing to defeat the windigos is friendship, Twilight doesnt have any other choice but to take the magic of everypony (including herself and her friends) but her friend's magic and herself turned into the form of their element and she combined them to the 3 crystals we know now. She tried to suck up the windigos with the crystals but she couldn't do it alone, so all the other princesses helped by tranferring all their magic to the crystal and standing by her side. She successfully banished the windigos along with herself and the princesses forever.
This would make how their isnt any sign of windigos or how the sun and moon can set by itself. Sure Luna and Celestia could still be alive but wouldn't the other ponies know who they are? Because even if Celestia and Luna retired, after Twilight dies (I heard she's not immortal) someone has to take her place and the 2 sisters are the only choice. Sure another princess can rule over but she would still die and someone has to take her place and what if their wasnt any alicorn left? It just doesnt add up.
Alicorn lifespans could be as long-lasting as the purpose the alicorn in question has in the world is needed. And unless Discord turned himself into stone, he could be hiding in the chaos dimension, unable to leave during the period when magic was basically non-existing. I have a whole idea on how Twilight and the magic could leave, but that would require a dedicated video to discuss properly.
I've always thought that if Discord's realm wasn't affected by the loss of magic, the the dream realm wasn't either and Since most of Luna's magic seems to only really exist in the dream realm (Unless it escapes like the Tantabus) Luna might still exist there, and that the Tantabus and possibly traces of Nightmare Moon might also still exist. That would also explain why ponies aren't plagued by nightmares. Considering how important Luna's job was, (not saying Celestia was unimportant, but there were other ponies who could move the sun nd be a good leader) I have a feeling thing would go badly with out her.

What if twilight just removed magic from all pony kinds as she saw them fighting and she couldn’t fight that without her deceased friends therefore having no choice but to remove the magic. She had the idea of crystals as an idea so she stored everyone else’s magic into them. I think she is still alive as argyle has a NEW condition of twilights feather. If it was an old feather, why isn’t it in messy condition and why inst it dusty. Half broken etc.

As for Discord it's clear that he is only in Equestria for Fluttershy mainly... If Fluttershy and him ended up together like I predict they hinted at in season 9s finale then if Fluttershy passed its probably very likely to predict that discord would feel he had no reason to live anymore and thus died with Fluttershy.... Spike well spike saw Twilight as a mother like figure, he loved Rarity, and he was super super close to Rainbow, Pinkie, Fluttershy, Starlight, Ember, Smolder, Thorax, Shining, Cadence, and Apple Jack if he Rarity POSSIBLY got together he probably passed when Rarity did.... If not then it's safe to assume that he stayed around for as long as Twilight did possibly to help her grieve or in a body guard type way aka to help keep her safe... But spike whether he died with Rarity or stayed with Twilight I see him dead either way cause if him and Rarity were together he like Discord wouldn't have handled the loss of a mate and then died with her if he wasn't with Rarity then it's safe to assume he stayed with Twilight but as Twilight eventually would've given either Luster or Starlight alicorn status it's safe to assume if not with Rarity Spike would've died with Twilight.... But the begs to question what about Twilight's personal student Luster and Starlight... Which one would become Alicorn? I mean Starlight, Trixie and Sunburst are probably around the same age as the mane 5 aka Fluttershy, Rarity, Pinkie, Rainbow, and AJ if that's the case I dont see Twilight making Starlight an Alicorn unless Twilight approved of Starlight making herself young again... Therefore I think Luster became a princess before magic died and if she did maybe cause Twilight sensed magic disappearing maybe to save Princess Luster Dawn she sends Luster to the Crystal Empire with Flurry if my theory is true it's possible that Luster Dawn is still alive but as a princess like Flurry

my theory might be a bit extreme, but, I thought: what if Flurry Heart is Opaline? since Cadence is gone the crystal heart could also be since it served to spread Love and Light (Cadence and Flurry) and without cadence it could be gone, so Flurry got corrupted by King Sombra (explains the dark colors Opaline has) and moved to Canderlot since nobody lived there anymore and also because of the extreme cold. as I said it's a bit extreme but explains how there's a alicorn and why it's evil

If discord is effectively a manifestation of chaos , like how the spirit of harmony is a manifestation of harmony then id say its likely that even if discord, being such a magical being died or straight up ceased to exist when magic disappeared so long as there is some chaos in equestiria i would say its likely discord would eventually reform from that once magic returned, whether that's the same discord with all the same memories or a 'new' discord called into existence in the same way but with a separate set of memories and experiences is up for debate.

Ponies are naturally Tribalist, as evident by the fact that Equestria, on numerous occasions, was almost _ripped apart_ at its _seams_ because a disagreement broke out between a group of ponies.
In fact, the only reason the tribes united and founded Equestria in the first place was because they'd all die otherwise. Equestria was created through an Alliance that was formed out of survival, not a new-found desire for friendship.
Equestria was doomed to crumble eventually due to the ponies themselves.
If the spell sealing Cozy/Chrysalis/Tirek failed... wouldn't the spell sealing the Pony of Shadows (which was not Stygion but the shadow creature, itself) be released from limbo? Because Twilight had to break Starswirl's spell to open the gateway.

One of my favorite things is that if you look at twilight’s wiki (I think it’s twilight’s) one of the people who worked on g4 has said she doesn’t outlive her friends, which could be taken one of two ways: either they all went down together or as is also said “the ponies have been exposed too all sorts of crazy magic, who knows how it’s affected them” implying that the magic of friendship has made them so connected to Twilight that they share her immortality and I think that’s just neat :)
Then that means something took them all out in one swoop…
An alternative idea in that regard that just crossed my mind:
Twilight 'sharing' her immortality with her friends causes them all to have 'less' immortality, so they all just get to be longer lived instead of immortal.
Them taking down Chrysalis who escaped (again) and at the same time losing their lives woyld be pretty poetic, since their final battle would be up against someone who loathes love and Friendship
That last theory doesn't seem very believable when you look at the last episode where Twilight is a full grown alicorn and the rest of her friends are clearly getting older. My theory is that the mane 5 dies eventually and Twilight is left alone, but after enough time for her student to be prepared to rule Equestria, she passes her immortality to that student who succeeded and became the new princess of Equestria just like Celestia did with her and then she passes on to be with her friends.

The wrap up was good, I got over my issues with it, I was just salty about it, now I’m just sad honestly, there’s characters I would’ve loved to see more of, and from what I’ve seen, g5 isn’t living up to it, might need to rewatch at some point
What if the main ponies aren't really dead? What if after the loss of Magic, the Mane Six's bodies got sucked into the Elements of Harmony (which could possibly still exist in G5) and in the elements, they got trapped, forever waiting for another pony to "reactivate" the elements and set them free.
Or what if the ponies are really still alive, as in alive and breathing in the G5 universe?
Maybe the loss of magic destroyed the G5 pony's taste of time? Making them confused that the G4 timeline was thousands of years ago when it is actually just a few years ago?

I have something else to put into the mix. If Tirek was trapped in Tartarus for centuries with literally no magic and in his weakened form then surely he has to be immortal. I mean at the beginning of Twilight's Kingdom when we first see him he's even weaker than his weakened form so he surely must be immortal. I'm sorry if I've missed something here, but something doesn't quite add up to me.
Grogar is actually a major villain in the original MLP show that I grew up with - and I'm pretty sure, iirc, he doesn't live in Equestria. He lives somewhere else. They make a very big point of saying he doesn't live in "Ponyland" (it's not called Equestria at this point; I don't remember its original name, but this is very much pre-Equestria. Fun fact - there's also a character living in this time called Gusty, who has the same cutie mark and colouring as Gusty the Great; so it's probably the same character).
So it's entirely possible that he could return.
i finished watching all the available episodes and all the alicorns are probably alive with or without magic maybe not Twilight because Opaline herself has been alive since celestia and luna were kids and she did mention alicorns as "immortal rulers"
i dont think alicorns are immortal but can def live to over 1000, but in g5 when all the magic was gone for some reason (idk much about g5) it probably took away the magical long lifespan of an alicorn instead of the alicorns giving it up

I also thought of a theory that would help explain some inconsistencies with the cutie marks in G5: the majority of magic in Equestria may be gone, but that does not mean that it's gone in the entire world. As we learn after the G4 movie (and when Tirek was introduced), there are lands outside of Equestria. Considering that the Storm King had some magic and that we don't see any other creatures like him in Equestria, he could be from elsewhere. The planet could still have magic, it's just very weak in Equestria. That would also help in explaining why so many ponies continue to receive their cutie marks and that they're present on just one flank instead of two.

I personally think that the trio who ended up as statues might have gotten free before whatever happened to divide the species... Really, Cozy Glow and Chrysalis would have been perfect to cause a divide. Chrysalis just disguises herself as ponies and randomly carries out acts to fan the flames of racism, with Cozy Glow helping from the pony side, while Tirek sits back and eventually tries to steal magic again during the chaos and suddenly there's an actual reason why removing magic entirely is a good idea to Twilight, since it's the only way to stop Tirek and put an end to the more destructive abilities being used by ponies against ponies like weather magic, unicorn spells, and earth pony strength!
a theory of mine, is that g4 takes place around 150-250 years before g5. If you look at the technology in g4 its looks to be around 1850s, 1900s era technology. Looking at the technology of g5, phones, modern houses so i can gues current time, 2020. Unfortunately my theory gets broken when a line in G5 states that twilight lived in a ancient time period. Idk

Another theory is that G4 was an extremely long time ago, where all the recordings of that time was lost by then. It also makes sense, because it would take a lot longer to build stuff as a pony (remember the have hoofs, so its 5 times harder). That means less invention, industrialization and urbanization

I think what makes it hard to really estimate the time frames is that
1) Equestria suffers from "Medieval Stasis", where things don't seem to progress much at all (compare the few scenes we got from the times of the pillars to modern / G4 Equestria)
and 2) G4 mixing tech levels. They got a wild west settlement like Appleloosa (~1800s), but at the same time there's Las Pegasus with roller coasters, intercom devices and more modern DDR machines than G5...

Alicorns I dont think are immortal, Celestia and Luna were in power way longer then they should have been and admitted that, but Twilight im pretty sure was a different story, I think the rulers said that Twilight would not reign as long and would also not be immortal *Not specifically in these words but still the same concept*, and the fact of everything going on in G5.
And if we are just talking about Discord without magic, there is the possibility where he disappears, not because magic left, but because he lost personality, he lost his magic, which partially makes him who he is.

actually the special is this spring. :) There will be two series "Tell your tale" will be available on youtube, and will be 2d and be like a slice of life, but the "Make your Mark" series will be 3rd and look exactly like the movie. And I think "Make your Mark" is supposed to be the actual series and this one has a special which is coming out on the 26th of May. The actual series is somewhere in September. And another special on November 26 and yes it's Christmas themed and I think the name of that special is "Make a Wish" and I think somewhere in the world there is a foundation with that name but I could be wrong.

My theory is that they lived until magic was gone because I think that they are immortal as long as magic is still around but when it was sealed away they lost the thing keeping them alive so they started to pass one by one

The biggest question that has to be answered is WHY magic is gone, And for that, I have a theory: It could be possible that someone from the HU-mane Universe found out about the pathway from Canterlot High (or possibly some other place, since we know that magic has been connected to other places in that world.) But due to one event or another, they ended up causing trouble in the Mane universe, and thus Twilight had to cut all connections between the two worlds and cover up the events to make sure nobody else would cause more trouble like that again, but due to the various tribes only knowing the results and not its origin they'd blame each other for what happened and as a result, Friendship (and subsequently Magic) would start to fade from the world, But the knowledge that came from the other world remained. Thus it would explain why the world looks more Advanced than before but the "why's" and "How's" are Not. Granted, I would assume that Magic ITEMS would not have lost their inherited power (since, while it CONTAINS magic powers It can't "leak" (for lack of a better term) it without a (metaphorical) Hole that would drain it.) After all, if magic was lost "naturally", it wouldn't be possible to re-awaken it again, but the movie showed us that the power was only inaccessible, not lost. If it WAS lost some creature would have done so on purpose. (why they would try to steal it in the first place I do not know, but that's beside the point.) After all, the movie showed us that the power was just inaccessible, not gone.

Something that intrigues me is how long dragons live. In the later seasons we saw with the Pillars that dragons like Torch and who we assume is Ember's mother are full grown and Torch looks identical to how he is in modern day. And this is +1000 years ago and before the Pillars left when Celestia and Luna were young students so Torch more than likely could be far older than Celestia and Luna themselves. And we saw how much things changed between the Pillars time and Twilight's time, so the idea of Gen 4 and Gen 5 being around 1000 years apart makes sense, I mean compare it our world and compared the 1910s to the 2010s. So logically Spike and the other dragons being around does make a lot of sense.

Overall, I don't think that a longer life-span would change things much. The timeline stretches, what was assumed to be a hundred years might become three hundred, or one thousand, but in the end, it's just numbers that change.
Not to disregard that theory, but, I personally think that this was kind of a faux pas by the show writers: Ponyville is within spitting distance of the capitol city, which we know was founded very early on in Equestria's existence (Luna referring to the "Royal *Canterlot* Voice), yet PV was only founded a few centuries ago? Unlikely. It's deep within the heart of Equestria, so it's most likely a lot older, possibly as old as Canterlot. To me it feels like one of the many instances in which the writers just made things up as they went, without any deeper thought about consistent world building.
Or another way to look at it: if Ponies did indeed have significantly longer life spans, then there would still be some ponies around who either witnessed things like Nightmare Moon or heard about such events from parents / grandparents who were alive at that time. But no, it's all ancient history remembered by no one.
Relating to this, I hate it when people directly compare the ponies' lifespans to real life animals. They're obviously different. I mean, imagine how depressing it would be to only live like 20 years as a sapient, intelligent creature. Their lifespans are the same as ours, if not longer.

Looking at it from the Fluttershy/Discord angle, I think it would be more likely for Discord to become mortal for her rather than her becoming immortal for him.

He does have control over his magic though, and chaos != evil.
So he could cause chaos whilst still saving the day. Like how he deflected Sombra's magic by turning his attacks into confetti and other non-sense.
Just turn Tirek into a banana and cause glowing arrows with the text "I cause the bad smells" hover over Chrysalis whenever she transforms to blow her cover. Or something like that; I think there are options there.

The three characters that I think are still around are discord flurry heart and spike. Correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t discord a god? I’m pretty sure he would be unaffected by magic disappearing from equestria. For flurry heart, my theory is simaliar to Stratagem. Because she was born a alicorn she is a true alicorn. That means she is immortal and she’s probably some where out side of equestria. Last is spike. I’m pretty sure that spike and the other young dragons are still alive. They’re probably off in the dragon lands, watching the events of G5 unfold. Maybe these three will come back later in G5. No one really knows.thank you if read this far.
Discord is described as a "spirit" of chaos and disharmony. No creature is ever called a god in Friendship is Magic.
Whether or not they simply used the term spirit instead of god to avoid upsetting certain people isn't clear though... So yea, if Discord is indeed supposed to be a divine being, he would still be around most likely.

I don't know if this supported by the cannon, but I think it is, I headcannon that the Changeling leaders have extended lifespans. I think Chrysalis probably used most of her lifespan in the past, but Thorax might still be alive, or have only died recently.
Better way to explain instant and permanent:
Say someone throws a magic blast at you and you put up an anti magic field that is permanent, they can no longer use magic attacks.
If they throw a magic blast at you and you cast it out with anti magic, the blast disappears but they can still use magic.
The ending was good and Twilight is ready to become the new ruler of Equestria. But in the mids's Of the ending It was kind of sad that Chrysalis, cozy glow And Tirek Did not get reform But instead They got turn to stone. That make me so sad and upset I wish the writers and hasbro would Give them Second chance and god reform. But instead they didn't. Alicorns are probaby just immortal and not magically immortal, also starswirl has figured out a way to not age, he said after a thousand years he thought that there was nothing to learn, he can not be reffering to limbo cuz for him it would have been just like blinking for a regular person meaning he was here for a thousand years + before he was in limbo. Given he could do that Alicorns could also research or have the same or similar spell, and maybe any other genius of magic. So starlight may also be still here, she is a powerful unicorn just as powerful if not more than twilight meaning starswirl level. Now, magic even if gone is not completely gone, it just means no usage of magic, if there was no magic unicorns would have lost their horns, same as the pegasi who would have lost their wings, there needs to be magic to sustain them in the first place. Afte all unicorns use their magic with their horns and pegasi use their magic with their wings if there was no magic to sustain them then what use would they be, pegasi even though they got wings they can't fly meaning the wings them selves are magical in nature same can be said for the horns of the unicorns. Now if Alicorns are immortal due to magic then what about starswirl and starlight that are literally as powerful as Alicorns with their magic. Would they not also be magically immortal. And if Alicorns are not immortal, they still have long life spans, such as Celestia and Luna even after a thousand years, they still look in their best shape. Also flurry heart is the first ever ocation that an Alicorn has ever been born. Meaning Celestia and Luna became Alicorns and obtaining their long life spans. My theory is they probably opened a portal to limbo or mabye made a spell that would put them to sleep until woken up. Not to mention we don't know what transpired between Gen4 and Gen5. Also they crystals in the movie could be the artefacts that sealed magic and would only release it when it detects that all pony kind is once again combined and no longer views the difference between each other. The crystals could have been created by mabye twilight and cadence and even mabye flurryheart.
Discord because he’s a creature that lives forever and has already been in the G5 comic book series so far so I think he might be part of that show…. maybe… I guess.

i could be wrong here but this is just my personal opinion. i think the life span of the dragons is much longer. think about it. in the campfire episode where rainbow dash, rarity and applejack talk about their favorite legends, we see embers father. the legends take place around star swirls time which is before the princesses even started to rule so probably a thousand years and a couple decades, maybe even a century on top (or more who knows). and he was the size he is today even back then. he barely changed. this means that the dragons life span is closer to a couple thousand years rather then a couple centuries
I think Starlight Glimmer could still be around. She has a lot or experience dabbling into Star Swirl’s spells and Star Swirl claimed to have been alive for thousands of years despite being a normal unicorn, meaning he likely had some magic that extended his lifespan or made him immortal. Starlight has both used and improved Star Swirl’s spells throughout the series, so it certainly isn’t a stretch of the imagination that she could have made herself immortal or increased her lifespan. It also doesn’t seem improbable that she could have been promoted to an alicorn at some point in between G4 and G5, she certainly is capable of a lot of princess-worthy feats.
Legit, I'd like to see some post-credits scenes with a grown Flurry. They had a solid few episodes where she was the star of the show, for better or for worse, then nothing is really done with her after that.
Actually nightmare isn't the same the nightmare is a separate entaty that feeds off bad emotional matter so even if luna isn't around the nightmare and maybe the tantabus could still come back

Iirc, Ember's dad was still a full grown giant dragon a thousand years ago. He was shown in the Flash Magnus story

@@StratagemHorse The thing is as well the female dragon with him looks a bit like Ember herself and that model seems pretty distinctive as well as a giant dragoness so more than likely both Torch and Ember's mom are older than the Princesses and potentially Equestria itself.
