Guys, it's pointless to tell me your country and ask what's the best DNS for you, I can't know that, that's why this video shows you how you can check it for yourself!
Hi, nice video. It's a nice measure, but you have to remember that Measure-Command report time for all nslookup command, including showing the results on screen. It takes time too. And it could be different for different executions.

Changing the DNS on the router will change it for any device that will acquire the DNS from the router..... in that case you want to change only on that device.
When we access WI-FI through say device A. We get an option to choose whether other devices can recognize device A. Is it safe to do so on cable internet provided by ISP?
that discovery is just used for local networks especially for PC's and media devices... for example if you Plex installed on your PC and it's discoverable, another DLNA supporting device like for example a video streamer can see the files of plex on it while they are on the same network. it's a pretty nice feature for home usage but obviously you should secure your network (hard wifi password and so on.)
My previous ISP also "blocked" it, but actually it wasn't a block by them rather than probably some sort of older Cisco switch model in their network that internally used 1.1.1.1 for something. check if 1.0.0.1 works for you, if yes than it's the same, if not, probably time to check other ISP's :-)
I got yday another motorola modem router combo (after sending one back cause apparently faulty), used isp dns all day and everything has been fine, today i tried using the google dns, which i used with any single router i had, and my motorola started doing the same thing as the old one, basically 30 mins aftwr turning it on, it loses the internet signal and i have to restart it, 30 mins later same story over and over... now i have put back the provider dns about 50 mins ago and it is still working, so i guess it's the google dns making my modem router going shit 🤷🏻♂️ anybody as an idea why this happens? It's not my provider the problem cause i used the google dns on the old router 🤔

you uninstall the game, and then, that's it! you are now working much faster! No but seriously changing the DNS server won't improve anything for a game unless this game is blocked or something on your current ISP.
In general it's better to install a tool like "dig" is you want to try your DNS servers. Brother i want to host my website from my local pc, need some help, should i need to create dns server, for connecting to domain ??? Or not, will you please tell me steps ...of main points.
First of all I wouldn't recommend this at all! It's not so secure, it's not fast and will slow down your PC. You will need for that to host your website which means some server application that can run your website. Than you'll need to buy a domain and point it to your external IP which should be a static one. You will also need to forward traffic from your router to your pc that hosts the site
As I said, it's different for each person for each ISP and place.. you can try my method and choose a few DNS servers and test which one is faster for you, or as few people suggest get a DNS testing app which will do it automatically

As I said in this video, it might be different DNS server that is the fastest for you and a totally different one for your neighbor who might be on another ISP or even same ISP but routed on a different way (on ISP side)
DimusTech fortunately I can because Don’t use the lan cable I use the cable that’s supposed to go to the rooter straight to my ps4 and it works but if I use connection from the rooter it doesn’t work (like a lan cable from the rooter)

it really depends on what your modem/router allows. in some cases if you change the DNS, both wired and wireless devices will get the new DNS but in some cases not.
well there are a couple of options here, the address you might be asking for, doesn't exist, and the other is that for some reason your computer cannot reach the particular DNS server that you requested the answer from, since this happened to me while I was on another ISP I found that some ISP's still might use some Cisco equipment that reserves 1.1.1.1 for themselves and that was probably the case for me, so try 1.0.0.1 instead.
Because it is. Authoritative answers come from DNS servers that are designated for the domain. An authoritative DNS server is usually responsible for a few couple of domains. sure, it should work the same way for any DNS, and I did see a few comments saying that their ISP was better than the rest (I'd wish mine was like that lol)
@@DimusTech As a professional network admin I see this quite often. I also tend to choose my DNS based on factors other than raw speed alone. Reliability and security are equally important.
Yes many more people are on 1dot now then there use to be but for many it's just as fast if not faster than other popularly available public dns servers. Depending on where you live your ISP dns might be the fastest or maybe it's google or quad9. It all depends on your physical location and internet infrastructure. If there is a google dns server 10 miles from your house but the closest 1dot server is over 500 miles away then the google dns is going to reign supreme. When I switched my router over to 1dot and testing with dig about 4 months ago it was consistently 50% faster if not more than googles public dns and significantly faster than my ISP dns. I'm not sure that having a ton of people using the dns resolver necessarily slows it down too much. What's great about dns servers is they will consistently cache and update their lists of the most popular websites having them ready before you even send the query. It's actively doing this especially 1dot to provide the best experience possible to their users. For me 1dot isn't as fast as it use to be but it is still on average 25% faster than any other available one given my location. If you want you can install linux on a thumb drive and boot it up to use dig to find out which one is best for you. You can easily search for how to use dig tutorials on youtube if you aren't familiar.
What's best for Sweden might be the best for your neighbor but not for you, that's why it should be an individual pick. but the method I show in the video should help you pick the best one for you.
A large local cache set for 1 day default expiration. Then it doesn't matter as long as you pick whatever is hardest to spoof/poison and has filters to not resolve for malicious hosts.
man im from israel and none of the dns i used in the past has worked... its tough being the country with almost the most advanced tech in the world but still having 3rd wolrd like internet
totally not, unless you are sure you can hold all DNS records in the world that you will use on a fast server, otherwise, things get changed and you visit some new sites, a home server is just another point in that request which will slow you down, it will increase the DNS response only for the things you constantly visit if they don't change but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it.
install desktop DNS caching server like arcylic DNS or unbound and you will get DNS queries resolved like instantly, faster than any of this dns server, I use acrylicDNS that send queries to 1.0.0.1 1.1.1.1 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 if it not cached very-very fast
even the fastest external DNS server also going out and look for address it don't already cached, because of it if you check the speed from software such as DNS Bench or nslookup you will see this personal desktop DNS resolver such as acrylic DNS is the fastest of all, even faster than 1.1.1.1 or 1.0.0.1 or anything else

Very useful thank you! Some advise, shorten it up in the future as people have short attention spans ;)
Thanks! and yes I know that it's my downside :)
Which DNS you use?
Because i was using
1.1.1.1
1.0.0.1
But these days he doesn't work ever!
BRO ITS WORKED LIKE A CHARM , JUST ASLIKE AS YOU.....
1.0.0.1 and 1.1.1.1 are the fastest for me.

What is 9.9.9.9, because it works for me
What's the secondary dns ?of 9.9.9.9
Quad9
Make your own?
totally not, unless you are sure you can hold all DNS records in the world that you will use on a fast server, otherwise, things get changed and you visit some new sites, a home server is just another point in that request which will slow you down, it will increase the DNS response only for the things you constantly visit if they don't change but otherwise I wouldn't recommend it.
Solution is at 7:24 using the measure function
1.1.1.1 forever ❤️❤️❤️

install desktop DNS caching server like arcylic DNS or unbound and you will get DNS queries resolved like instantly, faster than any of this dns server, I use acrylicDNS that send queries to 1.0.0.1 1.1.1.1 8.8.8.8 8.8.4.4 if it not cached very-very fast
it's good if you visit the same sites (DNS records) all the time, but once you want to reach something new it will actually slow you down
even the fastest external DNS server also going out and look for address it don't already cached, because of it if you check the speed from software such as DNS Bench or nslookup you will see this personal desktop DNS resolver such as acrylic DNS is the fastest of all, even faster than 1.1.1.1 or 1.0.0.1 or anything else
For me in Romania is 8.8.8.8 p and 8.8.4.4 s
