My opinion when it comes to Ice Spice and Sexxy Red . To me sexxy red has had more longevity so far because hate her or love her she markets the hell out of herself, she stays in our face , like her music or not her songs are catchy and I always hear them during outings , clubs etc . As someone who recently went to the Essence fest and whose mom who has been going since 1995, Essence Fest is still highly catered to the aunties. The whole city of NOLA has hundreds of events mostly catered to 30+ only. Baddies/JT was at the Girls United event space separate from the main event/main concert. Girls United is an Essence platform catered specifically for the younger generation. Essence is a wonderful black festival that has so much culture and beauty and it’s sad to see people complaining about it who’ve never gone. Essence GU is a great platform to bridge the younger generation into the mature audience of Essence.
I also feel like ice spice is growing up and I know when I was younger I use to be more sexual but now I’m more modest and calm. People do change as they get older. That can be a factor also.

As a person who was pre diabetic. I was given injections similar to ozempic mine is called mounjaro. I started in May at 260lbs its now July and I'm 245 and still dropping. When you on that medication you literally don't want to eat anything just drink water😂. That's why they drop weight so fast.

I have attended Essence Festival several times and I attended this year. I was very shocked to know how many younger adults were in attendance. I’m 42 and enjoy the Essence Fest concert. I don’t usually go to the convention center or other events. I was seated next to younger adults and they seemed to know some of the older acts. But it was predominantly older crowd 40+. When we left I did discuss with my friends that Essence had changed and I can see a lot of older people not attending next year if they keep adding in younger artist to perform. Victoria Monet performed and even at my age I wasn’t familiar with a lot of her songs. I only knew one song. But the lyrics of most of the songs I could see was kind of off putting some of the older attendees that I was sitting around. It didn’t bother me but I like some of the younger generation music. Now they did have a guy perform he was a smaller artist that performed a couple songs in between the bigger acts and when he performed one of his songs I was even kind of shocked they allowed him to perform his song which the main chorus lyrics was he was that b*tch and that n*gga. All in all Essence is changing and I can definitely see their chore audience changing with it as well.

And truth be told, in my experience the shortage is really because drs offices and clinics are hoarding it too. I literally can’t get my glp1 at cvs because they’re out, but I can get it at the dr who prescribed to me at 6x the cost 😂 No insurance help with them since they bought it out of pocket. The doctors office is never out of stock. This stuff is going to who ever can afford to pick it up.

The quickest way to ruin a business is to make it inclusive when its core audience is attracted to the exclusivity. I’m in my late 20s and always wanted to go to essence because of the black excellence. I don’t watch baddies and would’ve been very turned off by their appearance! Same when Janelle Monoe was up there showing her breast. They been a mess since then.

My opinion when it comes to Ice Spice and Sexxy Red . To me sexxy red has had more longevity so far because hate her or love her she markets the hell out of herself, she stays in our face , like her music or not her songs are catchy and I always hear them during outings , clubs etc . She’s relatable to the hood ghetto girls . And she’s fairly authentic. Although she’s has some controversy it’s not enough to cancel her forreal . And to go even further which most will disagree most people don’t like Sexxy red because she’s an authentic dark skin hood girl . We love ghetto shit on anyone who isnt black or isn’t dark skin . I understand the flip side which we as black Women (especially dark skin) aren’t all a certain monolith. But we also have to recognize that she does represent some of us who aren’t out the hood, who still trap, and still are unapologetically ratchet .
People turned on Ice Spice recently bc her ex best friend posted screenshots of their text messages with Ice Spice venting about how Nicki was treating her. And of course the barbs (who all share one brain & have sheep mentality) all decided to turn on her & they were the majority of her fan base. Barbs are the main reason you see rappers like Meg, Glo, Latto, etc. all get random hate. If JT or Sexyy Redd were to fall out with Nicki, you’d see the same thing.
Then they should build up their fan bases and not seek to use Nicki and the Barbs.

As someone who recently went to the Essence fest and whose mom who has been going since 1995, Essence Fest is still highly catered to the aunties. The whole city of NOLA has hundreds of events mostly catered to 30+ only. Baddies/JT was at the Girls United event space separate from the main event/main concert. Girls United is an Essence platform catered specifically for the younger generation. Essence is a wonderful black festival that has so much culture and beauty and it’s sad to see people complaining about it who’ve never gone. Essence GU is a great platform to bridge the younger generation into the mature audience of Essence.
I also feel like ice spice is growing up and I know when I was younger I use to be more sexual but now I’m more modest and calm. People do change as they get older. That can be a factor also.

As a person who was pre diabetic. I was given injections similar to ozempic mine is called mounjaro. I started in May at 260lbs its now July and I'm 245 and still dropping.
When you on that medication you literally don't want to eat anything just drink water😂. That's why they drop weight so fast.

I have attended Essence Festival several times and I attended this year. I was very shocked to know how many younger adults were in attendance. I’m 42 and enjoy the Essence Fest concert. I don’t usually go to the convention center or other events. I was seated next to younger adults and they seemed to know some of the older acts. But it was predominantly older crowd 40+. When we left I did discuss with my friends that Essence had changed and I can see a lot of older people not attending next year if they keep adding in younger artist to perform. Victoria Monet performed and even at my age I wasn’t familiar with a lot of her songs. I only knew one song. But the lyrics of most of the songs I could see was kind of off putting some of the older attendees that I was sitting around. It didn’t bother me but I like some of the younger generation music. Now they did have a guy perform he was a smaller artist that performed a couple songs in between the bigger acts and when he performed one of his songs I was even kind of shocked they allowed him to perform his song which the main chorus lyrics was he was that b*tch and that n*gga. All in all Essence is changing and I can definitely see their chore audience changing with it as well.
