Okay Shree... Take notes. Other people may have already commented on this so I'll add what I can. UHF stands for Ultra High Frequency which is a band from 300 MHz to 3000 MHz (i.e. 3 GHz). Now they are definitely using various "Movie Magic" because any signal in UHF, which usually uses FM (Frequency Modulation), operates on LOS (Line of Sight). So the signal from the bus either has one hell of a propagation because of all the steel/concrete/various terrain, or the bomber is using a Repeater to relay the signal which is another discussion entirely. Once the cops isolated the bombers signal all they had to do is play their own over it and pump up the wattage and it becomes a game of "Who has the stronger signal?"... Similar to CB operators using a linear amplifier to step on other operators trying to use the channel. Also Keanu Reeves and Sandra Bullock had huge crushes on each other during filming, but they both never found our till many years later. Hope that was useful. Now go have a coffee. 👍
This movie could've so easily jumped the shark. They get really close but never go over that line. Well done pull it off to the people working on this film. Popular rent when it first came out on vhs.
For more action films starring Keanu Reeves, check out Point Break, The Matrix (only the first one) and the John Wick trilogy. You can't go wrong with any of these ;)
Demolition Man for Stallone are also kind of hilarious Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s equivalent move it would be true lies I think you would love them both I mean they both have so he’ll many hilarious moments yet or still serious
My older sister taped this on VHS during a run on the HBO network back in the 90's, watched it numerous times afterwards. Looking back, it definitely showcased Keanu's abilities to excel within the action scene. But I've also since realized there are several outright errors within the story. During the medal ceremony, the presenter stated only the bomber died; despite the employee being fatally stabbed in the ear. Jeff Daniels was injured in the line of duty during the elevator scene, which would have disqualified him from going on active calls. So how he was allowed to raid Dennis Hopper's home is entirely illogical since it goes against police procedures. And it would be impossible for Hopper to even know Daniels both went to the house AND was killed in the process. I could go on about the absurdity regarding the 50 foot gap jump, but I'll stop there. Yes, I know this is just a popcorn flick and not meant to be taken seriously. The first three points though seem like a huge mess up, regardless. There's also a direct sequel to Speed, by the same director and also features Sandra but don't bother. I was super stoked when it was announced. But Keanu isn't present, as he disliked the script and turned down the role despite being offered around $20 million to return. Speed 2 was also PG-13 instead of R, which felt like a major step backwards. Overall, the whole thing felt cheesy like a pound of limburger. It is humorous at how Tuneman makes a cameo, yet that alone doesn't save the movie in any capacity. The director meanwhile has since went MIA from Hollywood, from my understanding. Keanu and Sandra would reunite for The Lake House, however.
I'll counter this: "During the medal ceremony, the presenter stated only the bomber died; despite the employee being fatally stabbed in the ear." By saying that he said: "The only life taken by the terrorist's *bomb* was his own."
Good points. I agree with all of them, but with Hopper finding out about Harry's death i assumed he had a camera in his house too. Also thanks for the heads up, removing Speed 2 off my list now :D
The Lake House with Keanu and Sandra is not an action movie but is still very good. I think you'd enjoy it. You also might take a look at Practical Magic starring Sandra and Nicole Kidman. It rocks.
If they can find the frequency that camera was broadcasting on, then conceivably they could grab a few seconds of video and run it on a loop on that frequency overriding the live feed
UHF (Ultra High Frequency) (TV frequencies, like channels 20 or above is UHF) (VHF- Very High Frequencies for TV for the lower number stations like channel 2-19.) back then TV was broadcasted using Analog signals (some still use it today.) The Buss company installed the camera for security reasons. was not difficult to receive those signals if you knew the frequency it used. same with Transmitting. all the cops had to to was to broadcast at a higher power level to (jam) or in this case to broadcast their own video. its more complex than that in real life. (jack would have to have cut power to the camera transmitter for their plan to work.) but today its harder due to most TV is broadcast as a digital signal which can be encoded with a security function to avoid being seen by just anyone receiving the signal. you need a digital "decoder" to do that. cable boxes work in the same way.
Good explanation but in fairness, Shree being from and living in India won't recognize the channels references. Aside from India using the PAL before HD and the US using NTSC, television channel bands were allocated differently than in the US too.
@@doncarlin9081 that is true, but remembering my Electronics Degree. no matter PAL or NTSC the raw numbering system was still used form a users POV. a set of frequencies where issued to broadcast over the airways as such and such. just like radio was. it is the how and what frequencies is the difference. in a non-tech common language way. both PAL and NTSC uses (FM) its the encoding of FM that is truly different. and it is all based on the power grid frequency. the first regular TV broadcast stations used VHF band then later when better circuits where developed opened up the UHF band. just like in Radio. one side was the lower frequencies, the other side was the higher frequencies. and they used the same type of convention with TV. PAL or NTSC. and if I remember the BBC that uses the PAL was the lowest TV frequencies of VHF to broadcast on. and just because they use digital "encoding" they both still use the PAL and NTSC to broadcast on. instead of Frequency Modulation, it just Digital Modulation. which can only happen when one uses EHF.

_Speed_ is a thriller with a character-vs-character conflict. When you write a story like that, contrary to the popular notion, the _antagonist_ is the most important character. That means you need to get him (or her) completely fleshed out before you even _touch_ the protagonist. You need to make them _more_ powerful, and seemingly, unstoppable. That also means you need to give the protagonist a logical way to defeat them that works completely within the rules of the story; rules that are established before either character is introduced. And then, if the antagonist is actually _killed_ by the protagonist, then your franchise is effectively over, unless you have a way to start over with a new protagonist. Any other way, sequels won't be as good. That's why, when they came out with a sequel for _this_ movie, it was not as good.
Always wondered about the end of the movie, on the train: If he was able to accelerate it, why could he not decelerate it? I mean, sure, the emergency break was out, but if the accelerator was functioning for speeding it up, then it was also capable of decelerating, no? (And running off the tracks would have been safer that way!) #SillyMovieWriters!
@@that.ll_do_pig a fair question but given the amount of time they accelerated, even without doing the math, I still think that such a heavy and old train would have caused enough friction to slow it down a lot and while it might have still derailed or impacted, the crash would have had a better chance of survival than by speeding up (but of course, the name of the movie is Speed! Not Slow Down! 😅)
Not rain on your parade but a semi truck with attached trailer Williams Terran through a bus and most buses don’t have seatbelts to get that which is crazy
Hey Shree thanks for another lovely "waste of time" with you! I always thought Speed was kind of like a high grade B movie. Cheesy at times, but still enjoyable once in a while. In all fairness though it did win two Oscars. Did star Dennis Hopper as the bad guy, an underrated actor who kicks ass as playing bad guys. The creepy guy on the bus played Cameron in Ferris Bueller's Day Off. Yes once the bus went over 50, the bomb on the bus gets armed, when the bus goes back under 50, the bomb detonates. I was disappointed that they didn't clear out the traffic much faster than they did. But of course there wouldn't be the suspense and drama. Very clever figuring out Dennis Hopper was a former cop! And yep he has camera(s) on the bus too. The airport was a good idea, better than if they had driven out of the city. Keep in mind this movie came out in 94, they didn't have those small spy cameras like we do now. Haha no Wildcats are part of University of Arizona sports team. My home state in the US but I haven't been there for a couple years now. UHF stands for Ultra High Frequency, those are radio frequencies in the range of 300MHz to 3GHz. Yes, that is exactly what they are doing, recording the transmitter for a bit, then play it back as a loop, fooling Dennis Hopper. And actually, using military/government grade hacking tools, you could in theory hijack a live feed on the internet and substitute your own. Not something an average person could do but possible. I think the plane was empty so some airline lost a valuable asset but no one hurt. Of course they will survive everything, it's Hollywood. 😏 I hope Bollywood doesn't do the same 😜 I highly recommend The Fugitive. I agree Sandra, Jeff, and Keanu did their roles super well, but I still think Dennis really rocked as the crazy psychopath. As always I enjoyed wasting my time with you. In fact I enjoy it so much that's it's not a waste of time for me haha. I do hope one day we can watch a movie together and exchange our comments while watching. Looking forward to your next reaction Shree. With love from Zach and me. 😘
Thank you so much for watching and your loving words🥲❤ Also thanks for the additional info, and the creepy guy also plays Connor in the HBO show Succession which I highly recommend. Its so good its like a modern day Shakespearean tragi-comedy! I can't wait to watch The Fugitive, and I hope we can definitely watch a movie together one day, it will be a blast!🤗 PS: Bollywood does the same, heroes often don't die if there's a sequel 🤣
@@ShreeNation Thanks for the recommendation, I will have to check out Succession. And you will always have my love and support. PS I guess Kdramas are the only ones where the heroes get killed off 😂
Back then there was no hacking by today's standards You just caught the specific UHF or VHF signal and it would play on your tv. They just tapped into what the camera signal was seeing and recorded it then sent the signal to the camera with their loop tape instead of the live feed. Buses sometimes had a single camera in the front of the bus to see what happened behind the driver. Jack meant to derail the subway train. That's why he said they'd jump the track. Did I miss your reaction to the baby buggy scene that turned out to be full of cans?
40:29 "What is UHF?" 😆😆😆😆😆 Oh, Shree, you _spring chicken!_ Way to make a guy feel _old!_ See, in the _old_ days, when TV was _analog,_ and broadcasted mainly through the air, every channel coincided with a different _frequency._ And it's a little known fact that there _was,_ once, a channel _1._ But then that frequency was reclassified for Ham Radio. But I digress. So channels 2 through 13 had frequency ranges of _30_ megahertz to _300_ which placed them in the _VHF_ band. And channels 14 to 70 had frequency ranges of 300 megahertz to 1 gigahertz which placed them on the _UHF_ band. That's what UHF is.
yo Shree, if you wanna see more from Keanu of this era, check out "Point Break", the amazing Patrick Swayzee is also starring in there. I personally prefer this one over Speed because imo it is a more refined action movie which I can watch over and over again. Speed is decent, but at some point it just gets annoying that they oversued the idea of "xyz" is not finished
Yes Sandra Bullock is so fucking great that’s why I recommend demolition Man with her and Sylvester Stallone being partners and she is so beautiful in demolition Man as well and I don’t doubt you will complain about how Stallone looks just saying :-)
OK so here we have Sandra Bullock I think it is great in this form and in 1993 she and Sylvester Stallone made a movie together called demolition Man I think you will love it it’s a bit of action comedy and set in a very dystopian politically correct future and I think you will love it and thirst a bit over Sylvester wink
Also if you want some good action with good acting from the likes of Sean Connery David Morris from the green mile Michael being from a terminator and aliens and Harris I mean there are so many great actors and scenes in that so when you feel for action rush check out the rock

This is a favorite of mine from back in the day. A good watch. Thanks for reviewing!!
You can't go wrong with any of these ;)
Thank you, i can't wait :)
8:14 It's at _this_ point that the passengers in the elevator are asking themselves whether they're in an _action_ flick or a _horror_ flick.
31:26 One of the greatest movie stunts ever, and the bus is not even a person!!😃👍🎬
So many times the bus is obviously going under 50
How can you be a long time Keanu Reeves fan and not seen Speed ?😤
Here's the soundtrack you wanted, Shree ! 😁 thanks again I'm loving your reaction as always x ua-cam.com/play/PLnpIGDCblPQVzVxBQNj_nuq-2ilrvZqCE.html
Yay thank you for this :)
@@ShreeNation no problem at all 😀 you'll be feeling like an adrenaline filled cop when working out now hahahaa x
Demolition Man for Stallone are also kind of hilarious Arnold Schwarzenegger‘s equivalent move it would be true lies I think you would love them both I mean they both have so he’ll many hilarious moments yet or still serious
One of my top 10 movies of all time
My older sister taped this on VHS during a run on the HBO network back in the 90's, watched it numerous times afterwards.
I'll counter this: "During the medal ceremony, the presenter stated only the bomber died; despite the employee being fatally stabbed in the ear."
By saying that he said: "The only life taken by the terrorist's *bomb* was his own."
It rocks.
I love these shut your brain off at the door movies, it doesn't need to add up. So much fun.
I've never heard public transport said more times in one sitting. If that was a drinking game... everyone would be FUBAR!
Some Great Keanu Reeves films are
Point Break 1991
My Own Private Idaho 1991
Johnny Mnemonic 1995
The Replacements 2000
HardBall 2001
Thank you for the recommendations :)
You should’ve seen it in the theaters. Talk about audience participation.
This movie Keanu Reeves is childhood memories for happy to see your reaction to this 90s classic. Lol facts on the train at 53:16 this is pure fiction.
I have been watching movie and tv reactions for over a year. Can i just say you have just won the prize for best quote i've heard, 'everybody hold onto butts and vaginas '.😂😂😂
😁
UHF is Ultra High Frequency. Most CCTV cameras run on this frequency.
This is my favorite Keanu movie. So action packed!
50 miles per hour is just over 80.4672 km per hour.
Great reaction from you as always. This is in my top 30 movies
Thank you, I'm so glad you enjoyed 🥲
The Jag XJS started in 1975, so it certainly was not a new car by 1994 and they stopped selling it 2 years later.
It's a 1988 Jag XJS 5
Well said 👏👏
One of my favorite 90's action movies of all time, cool reaction as always Shree, take care sweetie 🥰
Thank you, take care ❤
@@ShreeNation 🥰👌
Always wondered about the end of the movie, on the train: If he was able to accelerate it, why could he not decelerate it? I mean, sure, the emergency break was out, but if the accelerator was functioning for speeding it up, then it was also capable of decelerating, no? (And running off the tracks would have been safer that way!) #SillyMovieWriters!
Was there enough time to decelerate enough to truly be safe?
*I'm not a math person but I'm sure someone could figure it out lol
That's a great point!
For a very different bus ride check out SWORDFISH with John Travolta and Halle Barry
Thanks, will do :)
Yes, please do The Fugitive. 🙂
Will do :)
😏 I hope Bollywood doesn't do the same 😜
I highly recommend The Fugitive.
I can't wait to watch The Fugitive, and I hope we can definitely watch a movie together one day, it will be a blast!🤗
PS: Bollywood does the same, heroes often don't die if there's a sequel 🤣
@@ShreeNation Thanks for the recommendation, I will have to check out Succession. And you will always have my love and support.
PS I guess Kdramas are the only ones where the heroes get killed off 😂
He was trying to keep his camera hidden, and they probably needed a power source to last that long. He could only do one, I think.
100000% more likely to hijack a feed than jump a bus like that.
Yeah sorry about that, had to remove that scene because of a copyright block :(
@@ShreeNation I love watching people react to that scene. Did you lose your mind when it happened? LOL

40:29 "What is UHF?"
😆😆😆😆😆 Oh, Shree, you _spring chicken!_ Way to make a guy feel _old!_
See, in the _old_ days, when TV was _analog,_ and broadcasted mainly through the air, every channel coincided with a different _frequency._
And it's a little known fact that there _was,_ once, a channel _1._ But then that frequency was reclassified for Ham Radio.
Thank you for the info :)
lesson to learn, use the stairs😏, better late than never
Speed is a great film if you really enjoyed this I would definitely recommend the rock. It's another great action film.
Can't wait!
Jan de bont is such a underrated director, twister speed are classic! Jus to bad his career went downhill after the terrible speed 2 lol.
Oh cool he made twister! It's one of my favorites ❤
yo Shree, if you wanna see more from Keanu of this era, check out "Point Break", the amazing Patrick Swayzee is also starring in there. I personally prefer this one over Speed because imo it is a more refined action movie which I can watch over and over again. Speed is decent, but at some point it just gets annoying that they oversued the idea of "xyz" is not finished
Oh darn, great movie
"usually this doesn't happen". actually, none of this ever happens. ever.
Until someone does do it.
Thank you for the recommendation :)
If you are watching Keanu Reeves' films then definitely check out the original Point Break.

Say hi to to Raj Goeinka, Prya, Sushmita MiMi `and the rest of the gang in India Saltlake Sector 5
Fun movie but not very realistic. The bus isn't going to jump a 50ft gap and or survive a train derailment . Everything has a dead end and the solution is to go faster. Yes the title. But it doesn't matter because Keanu and Bullock are so good together.
12:48 LA traffic. I tell ya. 🤷

When the bus did that jump and u said is that possible no it's not a TV show years ago called Mythbusters did that to see if the bus will jump 50 feet and with the same bus in the movie and it was not even close to the mark and the bus was Not drivable no more
Haha!

Hey Shree, check out my new blockbuster idea for the 2023 summer movie season. DIE-HARD SPEED.
Starring Keanu REevs and Bruce Willis. They team up to take on daring car chases in elevator shafts and blow up airplanes with trains and buses all the while keeping the people safe from harm and getting the girl in the end.
