Bodycam DUI Arrest - Hammered 20-Year-Old Claims to be the Designated Driver

- On March 1, 2024, University of Toledo police officers noticed a vehicle almost strike the raised curb in the center divider of traffic. Officer Stornant and Sgt. Zakrzewski, who were riding together, initiated a traffic stop on the vehicle. The 20-year-old driver stopped in the middle of the roadway. She was asked if she had consumed any alcohol and she stated no, even commenting that she was the designated driver. Officer Stornant administered what is arguably the worst field sobriety tests ever shown on this channel. The woman was eventually arrested and was transported to the University of Toledo police station. She agreed to submit to an evidential breath test, but was not able to provide two consecutive breath samples. The samples she did provide were 0.185% BAC and 0.173% BAC. However, those samples were invalidated because they were immediately followed by insufficient breath samples. Her charges are discussed at the end of the video. All suspects are presumed to be innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

In my clubbing days the DD didn’t drink AT ALL… Getting everyone home safe from a night of dancing was a priority back then… what’s wrong with today’s young people… I was a closet drunk… had a bottle of vodka in my closet… but years later I blacked out and assaulted a good friend of mine… dumped the vodka and never drank again…
When I was in college, the cops were cool about it if you were visibly drunk and walking home as long as you weren't stumbling into the street or something. And that was Utah.
They have no excuse these days with Uber and Lyft available. None!
These days they are too busy with their own entitlement that they don’t think about anyone else. I agree back in the day DDs never drank anything except water or Soda, it was always boring but we took it in turns.
The cop was clearly new at FSTs, and that’s fine, but especially with the walk and turn, he wasn’t even close with the instructions.
His FST instructions were terrible.... he must have slept through DUI training at the academy.

His partners should of helped him with the instructions. Many will read instructions from a card. She basically finished explaining the walk and turn for him by saying “turn around and walk back”

People are idiots anymore when comes to driving. They have no clue how to pull over in a traffic stop. So many don’t even have a license on them or know where their insurance or registration is. They rely on mommy and daddy for everything

Many bad decisions are made every minute about everything. People can be too stupid for words and drinking or drugs do not help in any way.

Yes it was the world's worst series of cops instructed field sobriety test but he never even told her to walk Heel To Toe and he wasn't showing her how to do the test properly and he wasn't telling her to stay in the position until he was finished explaining it and then he didn't even explain them correctly so I honestly think he just wanted to arrest her just to look like he knew what he was doing but he really didn't. One of his buddies should have definitely stepped in

Doesn’t matter..the whole “sobriety tests” thing is completely subjective. They need to be issued portable breathalyzers in each squad car, end of story, and legislate that a condition of being issued a driver’s license is if you get pulled over you agree to submit a breath sample for the safety of all drivers on the road.
@@johncspine2787 sobriety tests are not subjective, there's a certain amount of Clues they have to look for in each sobriety task they perform I believe there's six clues in the horizontal gaze nystagmus test and there's 12 clues in the walking turn and I believe there is six in the one leg stand so it depends on how many Clues they give to whether they are intoxicated or not it's not just they make up their own mind and it's subjective. That's the stupidest comment I've ever read on here

It’s painful to watch a new officer conduct these tests, maybe more practice roll play before you hit the streets. And I hate it when a drunk flat out lies and says they haven’t had anything to drink. The outfit is a crime in its self.

Some departments do training nights where civilians will come in, get drunk, and let new officers conduct FSTs on them. Should be a more common thing

I have neer done a breathalyzer but it cant be that hard.
A drunk driver hit me one night and in the UK it was policy then to breathalyse both drivers, it was a bitterly cold night in January and at the time I had a bad chest and hacking cough I have to admit I nearly passed out trying. This was pathetic the police let her play act and did nothing about it, maybe because she's a female and not absolutely smashed.

I was a little kid in the 80’s and my grandpa would stop and get me a drink and then he would go into a beer joint (we live in East TN) drink one or 2 then come out with a tall boy wrapped in a paper bag then drive back home. He finally stopped drinking in the 90’s I don’t remember him being a crazy drunk I think he would stop once he got a buzz, we never wrecked thank god or crashed into someone else.

Every DUI video I watch, NOBODY seems to be able to follow the road side tests correctly and then they cannot blow into the DUI machine without multiple attempts. That would drive me nuts having to repeat myself 100's of times.
The sergeant was very bad at explaining the blowtest. Not once, did he explain the subject, that she couldn't stop blowing before she heard the sound from the machine.
Well, a good lawyer can get thos thrown out. The instructions are terrible.

I have watched so many of these body cam videos, and never have I seen a drunk given SO many attempts at doing a breathalyzer!!!! Good grief! And it still ended up as a refusal!!! Grill her a steak next time!

i was just curious to see how i would do trying to walk a straight line like they do during a sobriety test, heel to toe, while sober of course, and I found it very hard to do and keep my balance. Try it sometime if you don't believe me. It's not that easy.
It's really not so much the balance but following the instructions and how well you maintain your balance thru it and how bad you fall off the line. But yeah, it's mostly about following directions.

Cops did a bad job of the breath test, should have explained that the tone indicates when she is blowing, so when the tone stops they know she is not continuously blowing. Dunno why many cops are so bad at explaining this part and just go around in circles.
Also “like blowing up a balloon” is not a great analogy if they don’t specify it needs to be in one long unbroken breath.

Those were the worst fields I’ve ever seen administered. Could be risky in utilizing as evidence if it were argued by a good lawyer in court. Plenty of other evidence obviously though.
