When seeing the credits, I remembered that my brother told that this game was supposed to be the final game in the series, and yes it was for 4 years, then we got Supernova
I think it was really supposed to be the last installment. Then when something like ITG happened and Konami sued them afterwards, that's where they made Supernova and never stopped making more installments to this day.
@@torquettalk Yes, DDR Extreme was originally planned to be the final DDR game, hence why it had such a huge amount of revivals from previous games, and by far the largest song list of all of the 1998-2002 DDR games. There was also a song, "MAX.(period)" that was originally going to be in the game as the absolute "final song", but was removed allegedly because Konami thought it would be too hard and didn't want people hurting themselves, so it was only in the JP console release of Extreme.

If DDR didn’t explode in popularity in the US after Extreme was released, this would’ve indeed been the final release.
Pretty damn good way to end the series. It’s probably my favorite game in the series (the arcade version. I’m not cool with the home version).

The first game that allowed Extra Stages to be chosen. But the One More Extra was restricted until DDR SN2 or X! Five years Later! Until X2 :/

ugh. Speed mods were one of the worst handicaps added to DDR. Necessary in other games like IIDX but not in DDR.
