- A first-person perspective Madrid walk tour in the city centre from Plaza de España, then along the whole of Calle Gran Vía, Madrid's famous shopping street, ending at Edificio Metrópolis (Metropolis Building).
Filmed in July 2018, on a weekend.

Madrid is incredible city, historic and modern, to Gran via the best avenue in Europe.
The best avenue in Europe is the Champs Elysée, Paris. Gran Via is OK but a bit too noisy.
@@odalrich what ? My arquitech brother visit París and talk that elysseus is sobrevalue, for my the gran via is more beautiful , better building etc is my opinion.

I’m becoming an addict to this channel, and I just discovered it today! The Plaza de España you show at the beginning is going to change completely very soon (almost everything but the foutain). It will be a big park connected to the Sabatini Gardens close to the Royal Palace. This square is underused now, it is surrounded by crowded streets, and people just don’t cross it to go there. On the background the big building is the Edificio España, it is under renovation to become a luxury hotel, and a mall too.
That sounds wonderful, I look forward to seeing it once it's completed.
It's been Hotel España since before 1970.

Interesting how in London the demographics are a bit different than in other cities. In Madrid for example you can see a wide variety of ages walking the younger and older folks. In London it is less spread, mostly between 20 - 50 and you very rarely see someone in their 80s or even 70s.
Spain has the third highest life expectancy in the WORLD. People usually live to be 95 years old.
@@paulolosed2122 yes that is true. And also the age distribution in the UK are younger than Spain. There is a theory that those born after Franco i.e. after 1975 will have lower life expectancy because of their usually less healthy life styles, more smoking and more alcohol. but this is just a theory and we will see what happens to life expectancy numbers in 3-4 decades when these people start to die. will they reach 95? I myself might be dead by then, lol.

Where are all the locals?? that area looks spooky, like a sci fi city made for tourists
If Spain gets 82 million tourists a year, you can expect them to be everywhere. The locals are working, obviously. We DO work, you know. By the light of the sun, you can estimate is a morning before noon, and it's a weekday. Even that, I think half of the people in the video are locals, a sixth are immigrants and the rest are tourists. However, that area was deeply affected by construction works, and people has tried to avoid them for months from March to November 2018. Now the works are finished and the place is quite different. Hopefully Watched Walker can make a visit the next year.

Between July and August the city certainly becomes more calm than usual as so many locals desert the city for cooler climes.
Madrid is usually difficult to beat for its dynamism especially in the evenings.
Usually after 8 pm you can barely move in most of the city centre it's that packed.
With a nightlife that's just beginning while the rest of Europe is sleeping.
Madrid is rightly known as one of the liveliest cities on earth.
I've travelled alot and I've yet to see a city that's as lively

La Gran Via no es una calle de glamour, es una calle turística e histórica además de ser sede de los mejores musicales de España, muchos antiguos cines. Para glamour vete a la calle Serrano y sl barrio de Salamamca. Si conocieras Madrid lo sabrias. Te podría decir que hoy en dia Madrid es más interesante que Barcelona en ese sentidi que solo está llena de turistas.

La Gran Vía actualmente está que da pena, con la mayoría de las persianas d los comercios grafiteadas, los nuevos semáforos invadidos de papelitos de anuncios y pegatinas ; los nuevos bancos empiezan a grafitearse. Una pena que esto pase en una ciudad tan bonita,.con una arquitectura espectacular. Ahora están en obras en la plaza de España. Que pasará cuando esté terminada? . Ahí lo dejó.
