Such an elegant unique city, I love the magical light of dusk, one can tell that the heat and hustle and bustle of the day is diminishing. The fountain was gorgeous, and its lovely to see such culture on offer with opera and ballet. The inclusion of trees on the streets and in the plazas adds to the beauty. Gorgeous buildings everywhere! Another fabulous offering thank you sweetie, you know how I feel about your work....it soothes my soul :)
Thank you MMV, appreciate your comment as always! The golden hour is my favourite time of the day, I love the light on the buildings, it really is magical.
You just went right in the perfect moment, such a gorgeous light shining on the palace! thanks for giving me a walk over Madrid from my computer! Took me away from my chair really !
The Royal Palace is built, above all, with white limestone from Colmenar, and it was done on purpose, the objective was for the color to change with the light of day, so that the palace is bluish at dawn, radiant white at noon, and pink when it gets dark ... Years ago there was an exhibition about the projects that were launched in 1734 to build the new palace after the disastrous fire of the old Alcázar de los Austrias, and you could read in it the careful selection of stone materials that they were searched throughout Spain to build the palace.
When you live in Madrid and spend half an hour watching your own city ;-) The Royal Palace is in fact completely grey... but from its gardens at dusk, it looks like it was hand drawn in a painting with sweet orange tones!

Kabil Chy And much much more than Barcelona too...,Barcelona gets the fame and more mass tourism but Madrid have the elegance, cleanliness and more beautiful and elegant architecture and history...and not pickpockets like the ones in "las ramblas". I prefer any other Spanish city apart than the overrated Barcelona and of course Madrid is top of the list, plus Seville,Cordoba,Granada,S.Sebastian,Zaragoza,Burgos,Valencia,Salamanca,Segovia....and a very very large etcetera.
sacroarte Barcelona is dirty and in a bad condition due to the bad administration of the communist pro separatist mayor. Even if there is also a communist mayor in Madrid, she knows that if she wants to keep her job, she better keep things more or less clean. The problem in Madrid and Barcelona are the “manteros” (migrants selling illegally in the streets). These were practically inexistent before the arrival of these 2 mayors.
Walker, and the retiro park? the retiro is unique, near jeronimos area and prado museum, and alcala gate, to serrano streets intro to salamanca district, to station atocha. En fin mucho madrid te ha faltado por grabar, varias de estas zonas que te pongo, son de las partes more important to Madrid. Sorry for my spanglish, hahahahaha I'm standing for my english.
