I had this car back in the UK and miss it so much! Mine was almost completely stock also. The steering wheel was slimmer and was a Nardi branded item. The exhaust might be original but I think the original one was branded a Fujitsubo item from memory - I don’t recall any STI details on it - which sort of makes sense at this early STI development stage? I could be wrong! The original ECU has a chip soldered in and was mapped for 99/100 RON Japanese fuel. I ordered a secondhand ECU, soldered a chip holder and got a chip mapped to 98 RON and tuned a little more for more boost. I had some crazy PCI laptop setup with some software I’ve long since forgotten - it was pre-OBD. I swapped out the indicators for clears and a rotted out up-pipe was replaced which removed a little restriction. The expansion tanks are prone to failure and they are hard to get, a later metal one and a bracket fits and makes it less likely to cause a mess under the bonnet. The wing is awesome but sits right in your rear view line making seeing police officers following you problematic😅! Was such a great car. I sold it before moving to Aus, I won’t say how little I got for it. A guy flew from Germany and drove it home. I was lucky to take it round the Nurburgring and Brands Hatch a few times. Tried to buy it back but bloke had written it off. Sad face. 😢
The X on the deck-lid in the wrx is from the later wrx logo as it has more flare on the edges. In comparison to the WR is a bit squarer at the edges. Also the STI would be in white for the red and black cars
I can confirm that steering wheel is standard, my version 1 has the same steering wheel wrx’s came with one saying Subaru on the bottom and a blank button, version 2’s were the one you were on about 👍🏽
Many years ago my mate used to own a V1 STI wagon and he had to strip the engine down and found uprated pistons/head etc (above STI spec) and it all looked from factory, he done some research and found that the V1’s were built by Subaru and then sent to the STI factory to get the upgrades and you could choose your own engine spec
The vid is just stating first Subie Impreza but I believe there is something different with the legacy compared to the Impreza for STi…I can’t recall right now…maybe Legacy is tuned and the Impreza is an STI version.. something like that..

Thanks David, very interesting…might explain some of the differences in each version 1- 👍🏼
Yep - forged pistons were added by hand after production line.
Wouldn't the Legacy RS Type RA be the first ever model tuned by STi? They even have STi decals from the factory.
they dont have STi decals
@@matejdimos5749 They do. On the front doors.

Note: the aspect ratio is kinda messed up.
