I love this one. I kind of feel this song is for everyone. Basically if your life hasn't turned out the way you wanted, then Basically you can start all over and change it.
This song is absolutely one of my top. Depeche mode Is the best band in the world and DAVE GAHAN Is great singer. Lots of DM songs like this one is underrated.
Lucky you - about to listen to Some Great Reward for the first time. To raise your expectations: in my opinion Construction Time Again was just the warm up for the five following fantastic albums. Have fun.
I remember listening to this for the 1st time when I was 10, many, many, many years ago. Enjoy Depeche Mode, mate, you'll find a superb band with incredible songs. "101" was the album my cousin and I wanted to have when he and I were 11-13, but back then, we found it too expensive. xD Now you can listen to it for free. :D
I think I heard this before (no idea what it's),but all I do know if you listened to the [entire] song (in case you missed it) I bet you in the [very]end there an Encore chorus line of: Everything counts...
After rewatching and reviewing the lyrics, I now feel this song is specifically talking about Germany & the Berlin Wall! They recorded part of this album in Berlin & Martin spent a lot of time there. Thinking he was saying to tear down the wall and rebuild Germany! If they search their hearts, they'll find a solution! Find commonality and come together!!! Never thought this until just now!
I dont know if it was stated already. The title of their albums relate to the band... speak & spell is with vince clarke [yazoo, the assembly, one off one day song with paul quinn, then erasure, then family fantastic, then VCMG REUNITING WITH MARTIN GORE for this amazing instrumental album....then vince left the 4 sides of depeche modes PHOTOGRAPH becomes 3... henceforth A BROKEN FRAME.... then Alan Wilder climbs aboard and they go to a construction site to add to the double entendre of Construction Time Again [with their new 4th member]
'' wow.. How did they make that sound'😅... Well this is the question i always ask when listening to Depeche.. Of course there are may be new bands now with those futuristic sounds.. But there is one Depeche fucking mode... What to say about this song.. Its a Depeche mode.. Unique in its way.. And thats what construction time again is all about.. The songs will seem 'weird' but i don't know any other bands who were making such kind of songs in 83...yes..83.
You couldn't have said this better Michael! It really makes me appreciate DM more knowing that they were so far ahead of their time!!! Its the reason im a massive fan!
You didn't listen to the little surprise at the end (everything counts)... Right before you dive onto Some Great Reward.. There is still "FOOLS" (b-side of Love In Itself)... Anyway relisten to the "And Then" song with the wee bit of Everything Counts after the song finishes
Im guessing thats the Reprise of everything counts right? Im doing a whole separate video on it haha I didn't know it wasn't a song at the time of doing "And then..."
@@SephPlays It was a nice wee surprise (you already said you had loved Everything Counts) And Then... You had liked then(and then ...no pun intended) You hear the little fade in of everything counts ...And that's how you end Construction Time Again.. And Oh don't forget "Fools" 🙂🦇
There is a little outro just after the end of that track of everything counts that fades away. I think of the tack as meaning the kids won't have all the religion or politics so will be a fresh start
the song is from construction time again......and then??? all that we need at the start is universal revolution that´s all, and if we trust in our hearts we´ll find the solutions :) they want to construction time again :)
Here's a wee bit of fact about Depeche Mode's most covered song "Enjoy The Silence". Was written by Martin L. Gore yes... It was originally a slow piano ballad .. pretty boring really... It was Alan Wilder and producer Flood that said to him to speed it up and put drums to it ... and It became a world wide smash.. And Gore didn't like it... Alan Wilder left because he felt he was unappreciated and the 4 members were getting all the royalties and one of the members (Fletch oh how he may rest in peace.. and for the ones that are about to say ... Oh come on the guy's dead show some respect... Why?? before he died you were all slagging him because he did nothing as contribution) Live however he did do a cracking clap and wave his arms about and have the best seat in the house. But it was Alan Wilder and Martin Gore that slogged it out during recordings and live work) You will see in the next album Wilder has only one song that he has written.... Wilder made Depeche Mode what the band is because of arrangement and production... An unaccredited master
@@SephPlays SGR is not good, it's Fantastic! My entry into the World of DM! Blasphemous Rumours is on Some Great Reward. People Are People is what broke DM in America! I personally love Lie to Me, & Stories of Old!
I was quite sure you'll love the last tracks of this album. Next album is still better and If you like dark songs you'll love a song like "if you want" which is still darker than songs of Construction Time again
live... Bootleg.... even much better! THX Alan. Thats the reason why, many fans missed Alan since 1995.

Inspirational John!! 👍
Good point
Nope, they just were radical leftists when youngsters. Now they're asking " Where's the revolution? C'mon people you're letting me down...🤣😂🤣😂

True! This is them as kids but the next albums they are adults!

Good it's a fking amazing. Such an overlooked song
After tearing down everything, let's delegate the responsibility of rebuilding the world to boys and girls. 😂 I love DM, thank God they grew up.

No i definitely didn't know this 😊 what a cool meaning behind the album names!
You're nearly through one third of "The Berlin Trilogy"..Just the Everything Counts reprise and "Fools"... And Then.... Some Great Reward
Sweeet :D
I love this song. I think the "That's all" Part is sung by Alan Wilder here
Personally best end album song ever made.
I couldn't agree more!!! 😀
@@SephPlays For me this song is about creating the world by your own. By your own hands and vision.
I can definitely see it that way! Such a cool story in the song :D
The Sun and the Rainfall for me...

Yep
Next " some great reward" Something to do
Is this next album good?
some great reward is their breakthrough album. For me the best album, even if most people think "Violater" is their best album.
