- Goodwood Motor Circuit is inseparable from its history as RAF Westhampnett, an emergency landing airfield for fighter aircraft during WWII. Goodwood SpeedWeek presented by Mastercard was as good a time as any to remember Goodwood's past as an essential part of the war effort. In this video we remember Billy Fiske, an American racing driver and Le Mans veteran who joined the RAF and was killed in action after bravely trying to recover his badly damage Hurricane to base near Goodwood. SpeedWeek presenter Dermot O'Leary then gets a taste of what amazing machinery these courageous heroes piloted when he is given a flight in a Spitfire from Goodwood with the help of Boultbee Flight Academy! #gwspeedweek

It’s nice that Dermot seems genuinely interested and not just another modern presenter who puts it on. Well done Goodwood for making this feature and putting on this event. Goes to show that even in challenging times anything can be achieved if the want and desire is there
