Extremely solid, supported high notes and beautifully ethereal legato throughout. Callas' voice entered an Indian summer in 1959, still capable of incredible performances including this one, her London Medea and her recordings of Gioconda and Lucia.
@@Orfeus80 let me hear your voice, please, Mr or Ms Judge. Even the sun so glorious and beautiful has some spots. So there is no perfection without a flaw.
Wish i were there to have witnessed it ❤️ the concert in Paris shedds some light into how it must have been to see her live. Happy birthday Maria, rest in peace. Regards, Dana
She runs out of steam by the end, goes a bit out of tune and some notes wobble throughout but there is a lot of great phrasing and singing too. Caballe sang this to perfection.
@@brumgab from 15:50 things get messy, she sounds tired and insecure. 16:04-16:26 is not entirely in tune, do you hear it? But overall the scene is great, she's in her element and repertoire here.
@@Orfeus80 Yes, I don't have a music background, but I can hear a gasp and then the voice not "clicking" right. One can feel the coloratura sounds strange. But just for some seconds. The rest sounded good to me as well. 1959 was almost her last year with a good voice and in her recitals in Germany it is possible to detect some flaws. But Bellini suits her voice perfectly I believe. Thanks for your comment
@@brumgab as Paolina in 1960 she also had some fine moments and there are recital items as you say that are also good. I remember an interesting rondo from Cenerentola.
She sends shivers down my spine.

She sounds too worn out on the Lucia recording but Gioconda, Medea and Pirata here still have great moments.

@@Orfeus80 I think her 59 recording of Lucia was exquisite although somewhat frayed.
The one and only!!!.....
Per chi ancora dovesse chiedersi perché la chiamavano Divina... ❤️
I think this is the best upload in you tube, it has no saturations in high notes especially the end!!!

Incomparabile!!!

MARAVILHOSA !!!
Oh!

Late in her career, When so many were waiting for our MAYA to fail. I DON'T THINK SO!!! VIVA MAYA LA UNICA DIVINA. Arnold Bourbon Amaral
❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊
The audience was too noisy 😕
You're supposed to be silent in presence of Divinity.
So they say my friend. SO THEY SAY 💙👑 I would yell out VIVA MAYA LA UNICA DIVINA. Arnold Bourbon Amaral
the voice of the Diva stay the strongest.
mais qui il y a ?.... apres elle ?...
At the beginning of col sorriso... The orchestra there sounds too loud and hides the flute beautiful theme
Am I the only one to think the Netrebko is the modern-day Callas? I can't wait for her to tackle this role.
Не смешно....
No.
@@mistersmith1883 I am glad you agree. Isn't she amazing?

Can you please show when she goes out of tune? And when you say she runs out of steam, is it on the cabaletta or before?
