A tripod is an important part of every photographers kit of tools. It allows you to get photos you wouldn't be able to otherwise, but did you know that many tripods allow you to upgrade and change out the tripod head?

Smallrig makes a plate that will convert your manfrotto mount to arca
I thought so too until I bought one. Then I found out that Manfrotto actually makes multiple quick release plate types and the small rig doesn’t work with my tripod head 😭
@@nerdynautilus5373 Smallrig 2280. attach it to your Manfrotto mount
My dad was upgrading his photography equipment for work. He got a Peak Design carbon tripod, some lifter from China, and an actual ARCA Swiss Tripod head (I don’t remember which). The whole reason that he got the ARCA Swiss head was that is was gear driven, so it had the control he needed for photo shoots. The tripod head might be slightly overkill for his small Leica D-Lux.
I have the same Sirui ball head and it's rock solid. I use an FLM tripod and it's such a quality setup for not elite dollars...
My Manfrotto plates I need for video also fit into Arca Swiss heads. They purposely made the dovetail angle similar. This way I can use photo tripods as a backup for static camera angles.
Actually I like Manfrotto plates much more
Thanks for putting this video out which also then generated some useful comments!
True. My tripod is an absolute Frankenstein 😅
I really like all these helpful little tip videos you do
I have had my manfrotto for 7 years. Never figured out how to swap the head. No one can find the release. Its an early carbon fiber travel one before the befrees
I do not like Arca swiss, too slim and not enough purchase with the body to prevent rolling and unscrewing when tilted sideways. Manfrotto has big and in some cases huce plates.
I invested in 3 Oben QRA-R2 quick release systems, so I can much more quickly and easily switch my camera between tripods and gimbal, etc. So far, really enjoying it, and I’m gonna buy some more!
Me personally I like the full fluid heads, but I’m also used to doing cinema, so that’s a lot different from still photos.
For heavier rigs (think sigma 70-200 or 60-600mm zoom lenses), I really don't like ball heads, and there's something to be said for the manfroto plates in that they allow a long amount of travel in the direction where the lens points. I absolutely love the manfroto 608 video fluid head, which allows for a continuously adjustable counterbalancing force. I got three of the oben 2491 carbon fiber tripods - without heads, and put two manfroto 608's and a sirui vh1 on them.
Manfrotto make many different heads just pick the one that suits your needs
I bought a $300 ProMaster tripod from my local photo and hobby store... already had an arca swiss type head. Best tripod I've ever used. Super sturdy and very well built. Buying manfrotto is just for the brand name.
I think it's funny how you described the MeFoto tripod head because I have a MeFoto carbon fiber tripod that is great and I would compare it to peak designs tripod
Waiting for the panasonic talk
Are you talking about the RC2 quick plate? Peak design sells a plate that’s compatible with arca and rc2
What is hilarious is that Manfrotto is owned by Videndum that owns about 90% of the Western tripod brands. Every brand of theirs has somewhat same basic components but usually incompatible plates. E.g. I have Vinten Vision head but my Manfrotto plates don't fit to it and vice versa. Although, certain entry-level models under these brands are exactly same (Manfrotto-style) products with a different sticker on them (Vinten, Sachtler, Gitzo,..)
I really hate how every ball head manufacturer uses different plates. My tripods stock head will fit my small rig perfectly. The plate that’s attached to my 200-500mm? Too big, plate that I bought to eliminate this issue? Too small 😂
Ah yes. Can you please make an instructional video on how to mount an arca Swiss ball head to my Amazon basics tripod?
I am using a lot of iFootage Seastars S1 love those
I have the Manfrotto Xpro ball head, but changed the plate to a Novoflex Q=Mount Quick Release clamp and it work great with my Kirk L Bracket.
Have you tried Acratech heads? Super lightweight, sturdy and heavy duty.
I use that tripod for work daily. Constantly fixing it. Always wants to fall apart. Shut gets stuck. Requires constant maintenance. New manfrotto is not old manfrotto, and the oldie I have for personal use is a Goldie. The 055 sucks.
I have had a Manfrotto tripod for years and have never had any problems with it. I put a 222 head on it and it’s great.
Well, Arca is so small like a toy...😂 I use a Vinten head with a much bigger and more secure camera-plate like Manfrotto...
Interesting, I will buy my first tripod next week, after four years into photography, I started to get more serious on it.
What filter is that in the front? Looks amazing
Agreed 100%
Most (good) brands making tripods today do offer just the legs, so you get a customized tripod in the first place
I never use a quick release plate. I’ve never had my camera slip off the tripod.
I was expecting NDO champ to bust through the door😂
Totally agree
Are you buying the Manfrotto heads that use the RC2 plate? I think you can get those for $20, the same price I'm seeing for arca swiss plates from various companies. The RC2 isn't difficult to use, but I'm in agreeance that since the arca mount is more ubiquitous, it's the way to go. I think I'll be switching out my head so I can also buy the Peak Design capture clip and use one plate for all duties.
Sirui tripods are so fucking good
Yes why manfroto using proprietary mount because those arch swiss 'style' mount products are from those brands who don't care about intellectual property.
Putins another head means not keeping it the same way you bought it 😂
I don’t like ball head tripods personally so I’d never switch that out lol
I disagree, manfrotto is way more solid than arca. Then again it doesn’t look like you’re doing much cinema video nor do you have a need for anything top of the line.
i did the exact same thing with the same tripod. best of both worlds
An L bracket is better than a plate
I drilled holes in mine, so I could add a shoulder strap instead of struggling with the tripod bag it comes with. And my table tripod, so I can just hang it on my belt.
Sirui is good stuff
Try benro gx30 ball head, I thinks thats the best head, as it has a weight capacity of 30kg or lb not sure on that but either way still a lot
Giga Chad arca, Swiss gang
You do if you buy a cheap one
I just put an arca swiss adapter
So it's compatible with that peak design plate you're using?
Which camera you recommend to buy for wedding photography in 2023
Which Manfrotto is this?
Isn’t that a peak design plate? That is not arca swiss? Also manfrotto tripods are arca compatible
Which manfrotto tripod is that?
What nd filters do u use?
In my opinion he is one of the best creator in photography ❤
Should look at Really Right Stuff
well smart people buy legs and head separately
Why not use a gimbal?
People don’t know you can change the head?
bro, how can I achieve the quality of my videos same like yours? I have Canon EOS M50 Mark II but I am using my Iphone 13 Pro Max cause it can do 4K better. Please let me know
Eos m50 is better than iPhone in most cases as it is not oversharpened like the iPhone is, and the m50 produces more cine-like tones. Whereas the iPhone is over saturated.
Get a better lens, I'd recommend the canon STM 50mm f1.8 with a Viltrox speedbooster ($100+$100)
If that's not in the budget then there's the yongnuo 50mm f1.8 + regular EF to EF-M adaptor ($55+$30)
For 4k you'll want a very wide angle lens like the 22mm F2.0 because of the large crop factor on the M50, but the 50mm f1.8 is a better (and cheaper) lens if you're willing to shoot from farther away.
BRO USE THE CAMERA WTF
@@tristan6509 thnks bro appreciate your suggestions. Imma try it
@@Swagger51 ill try to use it once i bought new lens and speedbooster lol
This blew my mind… idk why I never thought of this.
Thank you!!!
That example you showed is not Arca Swiss unless I’m completely out to lunch it looks like nothing I’ve ever seen
Omg i dont have to keep it as is?!
@AnthonyGugliotta two things: you buy a Ferrari (Manfrotto) and you swap the carburator (a.k.a. very important part) with a Honda's one because "you don't like it".. ok.. so why didn't you buy a cheap thing from start? And secondly, the very part you've shown, the Peak Design's plate, has two little attachment that can convert that Arca Swiss to a Manfrotto 200PL plate in seconds. And to be clear, against this misinformative videos: a 200PL plate costs 20 bucks. Is that *expensive* for you? Seriously?
Can you review hasselblad camera
Might be a bit out of my budget range, but if I ever get my hands on one! 😋
@@FarshadBashir but they are not good as a professional hasselblad camera
Me with a 10$ tripod qhich gets the work done
Ulanzi 😮...buy a Ulanzi
100$ 💀
Links?
Only bad photographers buy manfrotto tripods
well dah
No. Don't do this. Stick to Manfrotto. It's better.
Bro Manfrotto heads are the worst
Can you suggest a cheap but good tripod???
Check FLM. High quality stuff that starts to get comparable to RRS
Please give me camera
It's seerooeee
Surei? Where tf do you guys these pronunciations
