Can I just add som points that are important in seeing this? The most important being that the child is born under an eclipse 0:56 (seen in background several times). According to previking believs they had very special gifts: hamnskifte (= the ability to change appearance), age shift, talking to animals, and healing as in when she heals the bird. The previking time and it's religion in nordic countries is much more female directed than the religion in the later years (viking gods like Tor and Oden with all the everpresent masculinity... ). Actually it is more animistic than divine. The language they use is only partially known and therefore reconstructed. The final scene is when she reunites with her totem, the muschosoxe. (Partially reposted from my earlier comment on this movie)

Lucky enough to see them live and wouldn't even describe it as a concert, it was more like a ritual. They are a must see anytime they play in my country. Pretty sure the guy two rows in front of me had a spiritual awakening! This song reaches directly into your soul, the lyrics are various languages such as Old Norse and Proto-Germanic and other languages. It is not really known what much of it means, they are scraps of language recovered from artefacts from as far back as 700 BC. Her costume in this video is a replica of that worn by a young woman, possibly a princess, when she was buried thousands of years ago. Congratulations on the baby, hopefully it is lucky enough to have little antlers/not have little antlers depending on your preferences.

Heilung are ABSOLUTELY worth watching live. There's drums, there's chanting, there's warriors on stage, and usually a human sacrifice as well. It's great! They call their concerts "rituals" for a reason.

@@damontcs they don‘t actually do human sacrifice. Pagans, nordsmen, celtics and the mixes in germany, scandinavia are not centered around human sacrificse but about the cycle of life and death. The nordic germanic peoples are not unsimular to the Dine (holy peoples of the US or Native Americans). The connections that all people have to creator (both male and female) are important.

    A few informations about Heilung:
The band members are from Germany, Denmark and Norway.
Heilung (noun) is German for healing.
They try to recreate the music our ancestors might have listened to from old runic inscriptions and texts from the early iron age up to the viking age. They do use some influences from outside Europe as well, like the vocalist Kai Uwe Faust (the male vocalist) using mongolian throat singing techniques.
The instruments are hand-made using materials our ancestors had access to like bone, wood and leather.
The langugages used are usually German, English, Gothic, Old High German, Icelandic, Latin, Old English, Proto-Norse, Proto-Germanic, and Viking age Old Norse, with the modern languages (German and English) being rarely used and the old languages being used frequently. That's the reason why you couldn't immediately tell what langugae they used in the song.

I've been to two of their performances. The shows are performed like rituals. They play drums, bones, bells, tagelharpe and a kind of Indian stringed instrument. Their lyrics are frequently in dead languages like Old Norse or High German, so understanding what is being said isn't as important as the beat and the singing. Congrats on the baby!

The Bracteates they have based their lyrics for this song on contain little blessings and such. The story in the video is about the girl, Anoana. There are some interesting things to note here:
    1. People born under an eclipse were said to have special powers - You get a hint of this because Anoana is born with little horns. She seems to be able to commune with animals as well, and later in the video she revives a bird.
    2. As a child, she is seen shaking her horns at a deer. This is a challenge to the deer, but the deer ignores her.
    3. The video ends with her being an adult, and challenging the musk ox, who accepts. The way I see it, this represents her reaching adulthood, and the animals accepting her as an equal. Them clashing at the end is up to interpretation. It could be her merging with nature, or she could just be, you know, trampled to death.
    4. The lyrics keep mentioning a "Land Warrior", or protector of the land. I think Anoana is supposed to be one of these.
There's no official explanation of the video though, so it's all up to interpretation, but that's my take on it at least.

Heilung ("Healing") calls their music 'Amplified History' ---- they take texts from pre-Christian Norse & Germanic sources & create rituals in their performances, adding their interpretations.....they make their instruments & costumes......in this ritual, Anoana is the living spirit of nature.....I think the ending represents her merging with the ox in a perpetuation of the 'cycle of life'........the language is proto-Germanic, I think........

Their music - including the languages in which they sing - is inspired by ancient, pre-Christian, shamanistic European cultures!
“Heilung” is the German word for healing, it contains the old word “heil”, which means something like luck, success! But it also applies in the context of “whole/complete” - if something is broken, you colloquially make it “heil” again (whole/complete - repair it)! It also appears in the German word for „holy“ (heilig)! But there are also opposite meanings - “Unheil” (bad luck, ruin, misfortune) or “heillos” (unsuccessful/hopeless)! The word “Heil” gained negative notoriety through Hitler and the Nazis, who used the term in the “Hitler salute” or as “Sieg Heil” - i.e. the invocation of a successful victory! Even today we still wish a hunter a successful hunt with a “Weidmanns Heil” or a fisherman a good catch with a “Petri Heil” (Petri is the abbreviation of Petrus, the patron saint of fishermen)!

Going to a concert next year, really looking forward to it : ) There's a live version of this as well, it's very good as well. The text in this is taken from a type of coin they've found, that they think were used as amulets. As far as I've heard, they haven't been able to translate the text on them, so the lyrics could mean anything : ) They use different languages in their songs I think, like norse, proto-norse, and proto-germanic.
If you wanna check out more songs from them, I can recommend Krigsgaldr and In Maidjan (live versions) and Norupo (it has a video).

In Norse mythology ( or old reality) there were the Volver .. women who had a strong connection to the outher worldly …. .. as you see, the little girl wakes up the dead bird..( and The Volva learns Odin to do magic/ seide.. and then the Volva was Frøya/ Freya the great goddess off the Germanic/ Norse people)

The story is pretty much whatever you feel it is. As to the language, the answer is at least as complicated. It's not anymore Old Norse than Old English. I think the lyrics are maybe Proto-Germanic inspired. I have been learning Old English for over a decade and learned that translating that into Old Norse is pretty simple. Proto-Germanic is not attested so ... What I'm getting at is, with my understanding I can hear random words that are familiar and only guess. She might of said run, something about her grandmother. haha

Heilung concerts are described as a musical and spiritual journey. Unfortunately I haven’t been able to see them live yet, but I want to!
There are so many small aspects to dig into in this song in particular, like when the older version of the girl did those high pitched sounds, it is similar to herd calling, primarily done by women in old times. Also during the guys chant, it changes from side to side, almost like waves going around you.
The language is said to be a mix of old Norse, proto Norse and old Germanic languages, but I didn’t find a clear description of it, when I googled it😅

I recall a comment in another reaction that in Norse mythology a child born during an eclipse (right before the birth scene, there is a brief couple of frames showing the sun eclipsed) has some sort of dual nature with animals and the end where she is running into the animal, she is returning to her animal nature, or something like that. I have no idea of the veracity of that explanation.

Everyone's interpretation will be slightly different. With that said, here's my take. But I have to say this. At 3:53, you looked away from a pivotal point. The girl healed a dead bird.
Look at how the girl interacts with nature. She loves it. As she is holding the bird, she may be praying to the woman holding a child, Gaia? But, as an adult, she tried to dominate nature.

We'll make a pagan of you yet Heidi. There are strange aspects, it is full of mutual respect for what is between you and your Gods, mutual respect for humans and animals, a desire to protect all of the Earth and yeah- No priests or pastors telling you the word of a God. That is between you and, in my case, Her.

Some of the old beliefs are done very well in this video - giving respect to things the Old Norse would have done with a birth during an eclipse. You see, in Norse mythology, there are two wolves, offspring of Fenrir who chase the Sun and the Moon... one named Skoll, is a personified wolf riding her chariot across the sky in chase of the Sun. Her brother, Hati the Warg, performs the same chase at night in pursuit of the Moon. If they happend to catch each other... then they fear that Ragnarok approaches... the end times.
Yet, during this time, miracles can occur....
Now, it's said, children born during this time possess powers that allows them to shapeshift into various animals or breathe life into dying bird.
Heilung does a great job of giving life to the old Poetic Edda... their videos do such a great job of springing them to life.

There's something very wrong with your settings because the program you're using is trying to constantly keep the decibel level at a constant level, which obviously kinda ruins the song and seriously damages the quality.

Rap tells stories. I was asking about the music style, not the meaning.
